I think it's hilarious. Especially when they will try and tell you that "they just can't lose weight" or that they have a metabolism deficiency.

I'm sitting in class right now watch 3 OBESE girls munch on goodies during lecture.

Obese #1: Eating laffy taffy and a snickers. Man she couldn't get those wrappers off fast enough.
Obese #2: Drinking a pepsi and eating a bag of funions and skittles
Obese #3: Drinking a giant Starbucks cooler, has a bruggers bagel, and what looks to be a giant oatmeal cookie.

Is it odd that all the severely overweight people sit together in class?
 
yeah, and the fact that they're just shamelessly/LITERALLY becoming more obese as we watch never fails to amaze me. i wanna go up to them sometimes and look down at them while they take their bites and simply ask, "enjoying?"

and they will likely not answer. because they will know what i am saying to them with that single word. because of how i say it and the angle of my smile. and what does that one word say? see paragraph one.
 
Probably just me, but I often wonder why? Usually I end up feeling bad for them, wondering what led them to that end. Course someone else would look and wonder why the hell they haven't done anything about it.

I am like you bro. I always ask, "why" what drove them to let their body be? I end up feeling sorry for them as well. Is it lack of attention? Do they get their needs from food?
 
I find it a little frustrating. I used to be kinda' chunky as in my early teens and I am so glad that I have lost so much fat since then. It sure took discipline in my diet and exercise though. I do have some pretty hefty friends though that eat the worst food. They will ask me for some tips on weight loss and I'll give them tons of helpful info , but they just don't do anything to help themselves!!!! I feel so bad for them and I care for them, but they're making the decision to eat like that and the consequence is looking that way. I'm sure it is humiliating. All you can do is love 'em and encourage them to change their lifestyle.
 
so here i was at wall mart. i ran out of string cheese, and decided to pick up some MET-RX protein bars instead. some lady in front of me was getting a box of twinkies, two boxes of enterman's doughnuts, and pop tarts. she had two kids (which are the ones i feel bad for), and all three of them are around 20-25% body fat.

the worst part is, she is hispanic. latino's are 30% more predisposed to get diabetes, and those kids are going to get it for sure. frikken 10 year old, 4 feet tall and change, pushing 100 pounds. what are these people thinking???

lol. as a sidenote, my 5 year old daughter is doing squats on my total gym as i type. thats irony.
 
hmmmm..... I get angry ususally. Because the medical conditions they bring on themselves vacuum up so much money, so much time, and puts so many limiting factors on things. 90% of the time there is no excuse for it in my opinion. The govt has to spend so many millions dealing with this junk. This is why our society fails. Our freedoms are actually chains put on the strong by the weak that way they can hold them back and not get left behind. "were all in this together, but while you eat healthy and work your butt off, this lady can eat 6 Twinkies a day, drink coke, and because of that we are going to up everyones medical coverage costs...


dont know if I am right about the medical....but I do knnow most people needing triple bypass arent 165 @ 14% BF either...

haha,talking about the grocery store when i go and load up my buggy and wait in line seems like just about everyone is loking at due to the fact that i have several bags of chicken breast,tuna,salmon sweet potatos and more then i look around and so many have what is mentioned above plus frozen pizzas and all kinds of frozen dinners.i suppose they think im the odd ball out.

I try not to pass judgment mainly because you don't know what the persons background is. They may have been brought up with bad eating habits, not realize the importance of a calorie, have psychological complications that lead them to over eat, or they may simply be addicted to food. If you think about it to a lot of people don't understand why food is good or bad for you, they just know the general good and bad foods. Now if someone says to themselves all I have had all day is one meal consisting of a bagel, snickers bar, and an iced coffee they think that since they are consuming so little food they shouldn't gain weight. They forget to take into account any liquid calories they may take in throughout the day as well as the negative effectives of poor eating habits on metabolism. As for people that are addicted to food (sounds weird but is completely possible ) you have to figure it is hard to break because you can't really go cold turkey or detox from food. I think this is one of the reasons that diets such as the V-diet are successful mainly because they help break food addictions cold turkey, while still maintaining adequate nourishment.
With that being said I do see the irony in the original post and agree with rugger that a lot of people are just blowing smoke up there own @ss when they say that they can't lose weight.
 
I just usually wonder how people let themselves get THAT BAD. I mean, people don't become obese overnight. You think somewhere along the lines they would say to themselves, "Okay, it's time to look good and get in shape. This is getting out of hand." - Even if they became overweight during childhood, once they hit puberty and desire the attention of the opposite sex and know that looks matter to at least some degree, you think they would try to get in shape. But, who knows? Maybe they figure they'd still be unnatractive.

My bro-in-law's sister has the best line. Anytime she sees Jerry, the Subway guy talking about his weightloss she says, "Ya, well you're still ugly."
 
As bad as it sounds, I feel extremely superior to fat people. The fact that you are in shape and they are fat automatically means that you are better than them at TONS of activities. So, it's hard not to.

I kind of feel bad about it too. But, being fat says so much, as does being healthy and fit. Even in the business world, being in shape is HUGE! It says a lot about your character. It means, in general, that you care. It means you most likely handle stress very well. It means you can juggle multiple tasks.

There are so many reasons to be healthy and in shape. The look is just a very small part of it.

I think that is what overweight people don't understand; not to mention it doesn't help when you've got this new-age "everyone is beautiful" mentality being shoved in their face. "It's okay to be heavy, you're beautiful inside." - BS! You can't get by in this world on a smile and good personality. Yes, inner-beauty is the most important. I'm not saying it's not, but people fail to understand that with a healthy lifestyle comes SO much more than a good physique.

What really grinds my gears is that lap band/gastric bypass surgery(a.k.a. fatazz surgery) is covered by insurance, but lasik is not, WTF???

Seriously though, who the hell can sit down and eat that(well I could but I am not fat, and that wouldnt make me fat from a 1 time deal) and say you were hungry for all that? She must have smoked some serious green to get that freaking hungry.

I think being overweight should by law require a doctors visit, if it isnt from a medcial condition, it has ot be lost be law. Fat people have to wear full covering thick cloths, and a wookie suite at the pool(no being hairy doesnt count)

Nothing I hate more than that sick fat chick that walks around with it all hanging out....like a thanksgiving dinner. Fat legs and thighs with some rolls.
 
seeing fat people at all you can eat buffets makes me lose my appatite.

in adition, i have a difficult buying groceries at walmart due the large number of obese people there.
 
I kind of miss being able to eat anything I wanted and not care how I looked.. When I was fat (230 pure fat) I went to McDonald's with my girlfriend.. We would buy about 20 dollars in food from the $1 menu and go home and watch movies all night.. Then we were done with that we snacked on anything from fried chicken to mozzarella sticks to ice cream... I was fat and didn't care.. I miss those days.. But now I am happy for the way I feel physically and mentally..

Now I just hate my little brother for eating everything in the house and not gaining a pound...

I have a hard time eating bad foods, period. Even if it's a planned cheat meal I tend to feel bad afterwords. I wish I wasn't like that.

Hallelujah. This is so true. I'm tired of hearing fat girls say,"A man should love me for who I am. I'm just big,it's more to love." Cut the BS. I want a girl who is in shape because it shows she cares about her health and herself in general. Period. That's sexy.

This is something else that kills me. If you are 400 pounds and you're 40 years old then you should be old and mature enough to educate yourself on the risks of being overweight and do something about it if you want to. I feel bad for these kids who I see who not even 5 yet and they can barely fit in the shopping cart while their mom is letting them eat an entire box of captain crunch. My mom always cooked healthy and never had sodas in the house. When my dad had a heart attack when I was younger we started eating even healthier. I am soooo thankful my mom instilled good eating habits in me when I was younger.

i usually feel guilty for eating empty cals though.. like today..and yesterday...
 
DreamofWeight, I miss THAT! :D I quit Alcohol, Tobacco and what you mentioned, training and clarity of mind are more important to me.

Most fat people just need to be educated about diet & exercise and learn self control which is easier when you eat less junk.

But then again, look at the stupid "official" food pyramid, people assume the government is right because.......I wanted to say credible and knowledgeable but spell check erased that.

And all those fad diets don't help the diet & exercise community either.

All in all, I don't feel bad for them, I take pleasure in teaching those who want to learn who are capable of critical thinking and I also take pleasure in despising those don't.
 
yo omen what up..lol ya.. the key for me is to enjoy a good relax session once or twice a month.. i like good girls... and they usually arnt down with the chillin! if you get my drift.

i feel ya 100%... sometimes ill try to educate, but they'll get offensive and start telling me that i should love myself the way i am and im waisting my life away counting cals.. im like: pphssss, fukn cow! enjoy your life!

i think dieting is all about not giving in to your flesh's desires, and some ppl just cant hack it..
 
Good thread.

Working at McDonalds and seeing people come in everyday, twice a day really grosses me out. Then we have people come in at 10 PM and its just dumb.

If I end up eating there, I get a side salad with Balsamic Vinegar (sp?) and a plain chicken breast and make a salad. It actually isn't that bad at all.

FYI, dont eat at McDonalds if you are going to eat fast food. As tasty as it is, once you see them make the food, it would really make you barf.
 
they claim they cant help it.....let em be. The more fat guys there are, the easier it is for me to attract the ladies... As far as I see it its survival of the fittest....which in today's standards means about 20% of America would survive LOL.
 
I actually hate seeing it. But then again, I'm not perfect by any means, and have been through some...stuff...in my life that is just about as rough, if not as noticeable, as a fat person overeating. So to me it's less funny than sad, and I wish I didn't have to watch them doing it.

4'/100lb 10 year olds would be more like 40-50% body fat.

I guess what I'm getting at is that I don't find it amusing any more than I would find seeing someone smoking crack amusing, or the fact that someone's an alcoholic. I sure as heck don't think I'm superior, I'm just grateful I don't have that problem. It isn't my problem, as a matter of fact - I just wish I didn't have to see it.

Haha, same here, especially cause I eat very high fat foods and low carb, "That's not healthy for you!" "You're eating so much!"

And usually it's the fat people that say that, "I'm trying to look like you!" is what I say :toofunny:
 
On a related note, overfeeding your kids is child abuse. Why the hell can't that be obvious to legislators? I am a small gov't dude but I don't see how drastically overfeeding your kids is any different from turning them on to drugs. Give the kids a chance to lose weight before you separate parents and children, but for god's sake, do something about it.
 
maybe those three obese women in class had a mom like the one sunclould saw at walmart buying junk food when you start at a young age eating the wrong foods with no restraint it is hard to stop. most overweight women are in denial about their appearance and their eating habits. No excuse though. All of my family is overweight and when I lost weight and got down to 125 they said I looked unhealthy! I couldnt belive they had ANY room to talk! I was like WHATEVER! I gave them all my fat clothes with a huge smile. LOL

Unhealthy?? Craziness. The opposite actually. There is nothing sexier than a girl who works out I say again.

Yeah...I can't imagine how hard it is for somebody who is 50 and overweight. In order to loose weight they need to change something they have been doing for 50 years.
