It's all part of the vetting process that John Mccain forgot about. I am totally against going after the candidates family and that includes wives. But I remember how the Rebulicans had a field day on Michelle Obama's mis-quoted statements and tried to say she doesn't love her country.

Actually its not. She was vetted by Arthur Culvahouse who is one of the most respected Washington lawyers when it comes to vetting candidates.

Also, there is a difference in going after a candidate because of her daughters pregnancy and going after Obamas wife who is campaigning and making stump speeches.

If Palins duagher gets up and campaigns for her and gives speeches telling me how the country should be run, fair game.

Here is my prediction, a new bombshell will hit the Mccain campaign and he is going to drop Sarah Palin from the ticket and select Mitt Romney, his origianl choice, not Joe Libberman, because that would upset the conservative base.

My prediction.... You will continue to be in left field.

The dems look pretty foolish attacking a woman over her daughters pregnancy. I thought the democrats was the party of open minds and choice? Right now they seem like the Puritans of old. Keep attacking this woman and her daughter and further alienate the women voters in this country, surely that will win Obama the election!

It is quite funny watching the genius of McCain's choosing Palin play out. The funniest part of it is watching the strategy get completely lost on the vast majority of people.

That means she wasn't proud of the US winning the cold war, liberating Kuwait in 1991, a country rallying around tragedy in 9/11 and the patriotic response that followed...that is 26 years of US history that she never really felt proud of her country.

Shouldn't you question the patriotism and love for the US of someone who will become first lady of the United States if they say they "never really" felt proud of her country for more than half her life?

Personally, I would never vote anyone into the White House that doesn't love this country and what it represents to millions of Americans.....but then again I'm not a socialis.....err obama supporter.

I dont have a horse in the race except for Biden, who I like a great deal.

Regarding the gap, it is widening at the moment, especially in specific states like Iowa and Minnesota, at least according to gallop I believe. I figure, if the convention ends well, McCain will get a small bounce, then I think Obama will continue to pull away.

Its funny you talk about McCain being unelectable. IMO Obama is also fairly unelectable and is only doing well b/c the repubs arent fond of Mccain. We need to face facts, neither party wanted the candidate it got.

One good example, just ask anybody after hurricane Katrina had devistated New Orleans if they were pround of their country, 95% would of have said no, do you question their patriotism??? The whole world had just let them down and some sat there and watch family members die right before their very own eyes. So you cannot assume a person doesn't have love for their country because of a simple statement. Because if someone from New Orleans had made those exact same statement. Everybody would say, oh yes I can understand. Remember some people have traveled a much tougher path than you and I.

Wow Palin gave an amazing speech. CBS is reporting McCain and Obama are tied in the polls, last week Obama had an edge over McCain in their poll.

All of that bad press that the media gave Palin over the weekend led to 37 million people tuning in to her speech, and apparantly most of them liked what they heard (38 million tuned in to Obama's speech, and he has been in the limelight for 18 months). So goes the law of unintended consequences.

I was not going to vote for McCain, even though I really did not like the look of an Obama presidency. However, with Palin on the ticket I will vote McCain now. My thought is that if McCain wins he will be a 1 term president, and Palin will make a great candidate in 2012.

Politically I am a slightly right of center Libertarian, however I am much more inclined to vote for a conservative like Palin over a far left candidate any day.

So not only has McCain solidified the Republican base he has also succeeded in gaining at least two votes that he didn't have a couple of days ago. I stick by what I said when I first heard about Palin getting on the ticket, Obama is in trouble.
