McCain's VP Pick - a GILF?

It's all part of the vetting process that John Mccain forgot about. I am totally against going after the candidates family and that includes wives. But I remember how the Rebulicans had a field day on Michelle Obama's mis-quoted statements and tried to say she doesn't love her country.

Actually its not. She was vetted by Arthur Culvahouse who is one of the most respected Washington lawyers when it comes to vetting candidates.

Also, there is a difference in going after a candidate because of her daughters pregnancy and going after Obamas wife who is campaigning and making stump speeches.

If Palins duagher gets up and campaigns for her and gives speeches telling me how the country should be run, fair game.

Here is my prediction, a new bombshell will hit the Mccain campaign and he is going to drop Sarah Palin from the ticket and select Mitt Romney, his origianl choice, not Joe Libberman, because that would upset the conservative base.

My prediction.... You will continue to be in left field.

Please....explain the difference. The media is in the Dems back pocket.

Can you imagine mothers out there hearing the criticism "How can she juggle being a mom and VP at the same time?"

So I continue to ask the media to please, for the love of all things holy...keep it up :D

The dems look pretty foolish attacking a woman over her daughters pregnancy. I thought the democrats was the party of open minds and choice? Right now they seem like the Puritans of old. Keep attacking this woman and her daughter and further alienate the women voters in this country, surely that will win Obama the election!

It is quite funny watching the genius of McCain's choosing Palin play out. The funniest part of it is watching the strategy get completely lost on the vast majority of people.

Zogby:

Does the selection of Sarah Palin help or hurt John McCain's chances of winning the presidential election in November?

52% said it helps
26% said it would hurt.
10% no difference
10% not sure

Among women,

48% said it would help
29% said it would hurt

Zogby Poll One Week Ago: Does Biden Help or Hurt Obama?

43% said it would help
22% said it would hurt
10% no difference
9% Not sure

Better numbers than Biden.

:)

I am looking forward to her speech tonight.

What station/network have you guys been watching the conventions on? I've chosen C-SPAN to avoid commentary.

CNN because its HD :D

right, I see that Sean Hannity and the rest of the Fox NEws contingent are quite liberal

Sean Hannity is not news, its opinion.

And to even hint that the national media isn't in the tank for Obama could mean that not only do you have your blinders on, but earplugs as well.

holdup, I do believe they are much easier on him, however they are not the least bit hard on McCain. They are crushing Palin, both fairly and unfairly

They don't have time to crush McCain. They are too busy asking for paternity records for her down syndrome baby.

“For the first time in my adult lifetime, I’m really proud of my country … not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change,” she said. “I have been desperate to see our country moving in that direction and just not feeling so alone in my frustration and disappointment.”

What is misquoted about this? She was born in 1964, and became an adult in 1982. That means she wasn't proud of the US winning the cold war, liberating Kuwait in 1991, a country rallying around tragedy in 9/11 and the patriotic response that followed...that is 26 years of US history that she never really felt proud of her country.

Shouldn't you question the patriotism and love for the US of someone who will become first lady of the United States if they say they "never really" felt proud of her country for more than half her life?

Personally, I would never vote anyone into the White House that doesn't love this country and what it represents to millions of Americans.....but then again I'm not a socialis.....err obama supporter.

I guess since we are voting based on first ladies we should vote for Mccain, who's wife in all her infinite wisdom declared this gem about Sarah Palin's foreign policy experience:
"she has a great deal of foreign policy experience since Alaska is located so close to Russia".

Good thing we dont vote based on first lady

To my knowledge John and Cindy McCain haven't attended KKK rallys every Sunday for the past 20 or so years. Whereas Michelle and Barack have attended the black ideological equivalent.

With this in mind the Michelle Obama quote has its proper context, and the can of worms it opens is far more significant that anything that Cindy McCain has said thus far.

 the black equivalent of the KKK? Ok, when we look at presidential history, we have had several presidents who were clubs of this ilk, namely Truman.

The fact that Cindy McCain said this shows ignorance, as did Michelle Obama's comments. However, as I said, it is a good thing we dont vote based on first ladies.

Black liberation theology is as racist as any KKK ideology or Nazi ideology.

Even without Michele Obama at his side, Barry is a bad candidate. John McCain was probably the most unelectable candidate of the bunch, and still Obama is having a tough time opening up a significant gap.

Either way I don't have a horse in the race, unless by some miracle Ron Paul's name gets on the ballet.

I dont have a horse in the race except for Biden, who I like a great deal.

Regarding the gap, it is widening at the moment, especially in specific states like Iowa and Minnesota, at least according to gallop I believe. I figure, if the convention ends well, McCain will get a small bounce, then I think Obama will continue to pull away.

Its funny you talk about McCain being unelectable. IMO Obama is also fairly unelectable and is only doing well b/c the repubs arent fond of Mccain. We need to face facts, neither party wanted the candidate it got.

"she has a great deal of foreign policy experience since Alaska is located so close to Russia".

That could very well be true. I find it hard to believe that the governor of Alaska is not part of the decision making processes on issues pertaining to the Bering Sea and other Alaska-US/Russia issues.

Well I guess it is, as I heard in 2004 that Howard Dean was a foreign policy whiz for his handeling of the Vermont/Canada border wars.

Lets not stretch Mrs. Palin too much here ok:thumbsup:

i do find it comical that the more the elitist democrat leaning media tries to paint her as a "poor white trash with pregnant unmarried daughter" the more she looks a lot closer to average american than obama + biden

I'm not saying shes a foreign policy whiz, but you said what Laura Bush said is laughable...I'm saying what she said may be true.

While they conveniently leave out that Bidens son, Hunter, is/was a Washington lobbyist.

Not many people know that one because its not reported.

"Some politicians use change to promote their careers, some politicians, like John McCain build their careers on change."

Awesome line. She rocks.

It has been said that you should know your audience. She definitely knows her audience and delivered a great speech to that audience. I just hope she's that feisty when her hockey mom\pitbull (great line I might add) lipstick gets smeared.

:bruce3:

Mccain has my vote so I can just watch those hot legs on Palin.................. about time they put somebody in office who will be interesting to watch.....heck I might even start following politics again!!! Palin=hooooooooot!

Now you could interpret her statement in two ways. From the left, which is she hates her country or from the right, she is proud of american more than ever. We can cut and disect her statement in many ways. But listen to what Laura Bush said about her statement, which is her words were taken out of context. Remember, if her husband wasn't running for president, then no one cares.

One good example, just ask anybody after hurricane Katrina had devistated New Orleans if they were pround of their country, 95% would of have said no, do you question their patriotism??? The whole world had just let them down and some sat there and watch family members die right before their very own eyes. So you cannot assume a person doesn't have love for their country because of a simple statement. Because if someone from New Orleans had made those exact same statement. Everybody would say, oh yes I can understand. Remember some people have traveled a much tougher path than you and I.

Oh yes it was reported, but lets not forget 1/2 of John Mccain's staffs are lobbyist. So I guess they are even, so the media isn't going to touch it because theres no fun in both candidates having something in common.

I got to give her credit, she can deliver a speech and she knows her audience. In fact, she proved that she can give a better speech than our current President, as it was a Bush speech writer who wrote the speech for her.

Also, I am going to reserve further comment until after I hear McCain, but I will say this: it seems that what the repubs complained about regarding Obama's lack of a plan (besides his acceptance speech it seems) is exactly what the repubs are doing as well. Lets see how McCain does

Biden has his fair share of problems too.

you are so clueless i'm amazed you can log onto a computer. A "I'm not proud of how america handled a specific event" is quite different from "in my whole life this is the first time I am prouid of america"

plus i'm not sure if you've ever looked at a newspaper or looked at any of the major news media besides fox if you think the media isn't all sucking up for obama.

Wow Palin gave an amazing speech. CBS is reporting McCain and Obama are tied in the polls, last week Obama had an edge over McCain in their poll.

All of that bad press that the media gave Palin over the weekend led to 37 million people tuning in to her speech, and apparantly most of them liked what they heard (38 million tuned in to Obama's speech, and he has been in the limelight for 18 months). So goes the law of unintended consequences.

I was not going to vote for McCain, even though I really did not like the look of an Obama presidency. However, with Palin on the ticket I will vote McCain now. My thought is that if McCain wins he will be a 1 term president, and Palin will make a great candidate in 2012.

Politically I am a slightly right of center Libertarian, however I am much more inclined to vote for a conservative like Palin over a far left candidate any day.

So not only has McCain solidified the Republican base he has also succeeded in gaining at least two votes that he didn't have a couple of days ago. I stick by what I said when I first heard about Palin getting on the ticket, Obama is in trouble.
