A Report from the White Community

There are all sorts of problems in all sorts of communities. If you go back to the original post, its just an open letter from a piece of the "white community" asking the black community to stop blaming whites, and take responsibilities for their own actions.

Those incestuous abusive white families aren't blaming someone else for them being that way, and the rest of the white community doesn't blame some outside group in some speculous unrelated way. But we blame individuals for individual actions, trying to hold individuals responsible. not trying to avoid our own culpability by using what may have happened to our greatgrandparents as an excuse for our actions today.

You know, as this discussion progressed, it was really starting to piss me off but then I thought "What would Peter Griffin do" (a little levity here). I have a very close friend who is white and godfather to my younger son that when we met 35 years ago, we initially hated each others guts mainly because of comments similar to yours and I would give it right back. As members of the organization we were in however, and being in the same section, we had to find a way to get along for the good of the program and we both wanted to be there. Long story short, at some point we began to talk and over time found that we had much more in common than we ever thought. The fact that we won a couple of World Championships together didn't hurt either. Which brings me back to my original post, you are entitled to your perceptions but if everyone would just take the time to look a little deeper and be a little more open minded the healing could begin

I could relate experiences to you from a young age and things that happened to members of my family going back generations that would make you wonder why I would ever want to associate with white people in any way. But, on the other hand, I can also give many more examples of kindness and generosity of spirit that I have experienced that make you realize that under it all, we are just people. Hence my original post.

I can give exeriences from my youth as to why I dislike the black "entitlements" as well :) but...

I don't choose to associate myself with trailer park folks. Yes they share the same skin color, but who cares? caring about skin color is racism.

You seem to choose to associate yourself with the ghetto hood rats, solely based on skin color. that is racist.

I don't have a problem with any person who wants to keep their individuality, pride in their heritage etc. I do have a problem with someone who expects to wear their $100 jeans a foot below their waist hanging over their $150 sneakers that were paid for with money they got from stealing or dealing drugs, and who collects food stamps and lives in section 8 housing. i do't care what color their skin is.

You obviously did not read my post or more importantly lack the cognitive ability to understand what I wrote. I don't associate with "hood rats" and also have a problem with the high priced sneakers and "crack showing" jeans. You claim that you don't care what colr their skin is but everything that you post is directed soley at black people.

If you read my post correctly, you would understand that the point is that in spite of the negative experiences, I don't generalize, instead I choose to judge people on how they treat me, NOT the color of their skin. Your narrow mind just won't allow you to understand that and try to be objective so, flame on.

All I see is you creating insults not myself. If you aren't one of the people who associates yourself with them, then why do you have a problem with the rest of us characterizing them as being and having a problem, and resorting to ad hominem attacks? When I said "associate with them" I didn't mean it in terms of hanging out with them on the weekends, I meant it in terms of relating yourself with them. If you aren't one of them why and don't associate with them why are you so defensive about them?

Well, first and foremost if you haven't figured it out yet, I am African American and damn proud of it btw. Secondly, the crap I'm reading in this thread is the same bs that came out of the mouths of such notable stalwarts like George Wallace, Bull Connor and many others in the past when they stood directly in the way of the ability for black folks to better themselves. Like for instance, your boy bpmartyr's avatar is totally offensive, If I had a avatar that was derogatory toward white people you guys would be getting a lynch party together. The fact that no one has mentioned that it's not cool speaks volumes.

In addition, styles being what they are, my nephew dresses in the manner that you talk about as well as a lot of the white kids at least here on the east coast. My nephew is far from a criminal, he is a consistant honor roll student ranked in the top percentile of his class, that and the fact that my sister would kill him if he was arrested. I see you have tatoos, there was a time when people looked at that with disdain, How would you like to be judged as a drug addict or degenerate simply because of that. My problem is that you are taking a segment the race and using that as the basis for your argument against all. If you consider my reaction to that defensive, Yes I am guilty and will continue to be so. I don't expect to change your minds but maybe at least make you think.

Being a racist as I understand the word is simply playing the probability game intelligently. You don't have to hate anyone or discriminate against anyone to be racist. Racism is simply an initial judgment which stands against someone until they're known more personally. I have plenty of black friends, but if I'm walking on a street and a black guy is following me closely, I'm not dumb - so I'll walk faster. The same situation with a white person following close behind would just be weird, but I wouldn't be nearly as concerned. Racism is simply knowing probability based on empirical evidence, not ignorant discrimination.

Wrong. That's prejudice.

Really. First, we're all *******s and he said he was leaving, never to post again. Then we lack cognitive ability to understand his "argument" on top of the fact that we are all "narrow minded".

He's done a REAL good job of expressing his opinion. He really made us all really "think".

:bruce3:

Actually what I think he's referring to is most of the piece of garbage wanna be thugs dress and act this way. Funny how you associate that with black people. I don't believe Easy did. Where I'm from we have just as many whites as blacks who dress in this manner. The area's where they reside is filled with $60k cars and govt housing. Funny how no one wants to live in those areas because it's nothing but violence and drugs.

Blame who you want but the bottom line is this country has a problem. We have a large percentage of OUR kids growing up with no father and nothing but glorified images of gangsters on TV in music video's.
