That is sad news.

It's ridiculous how all the media outlets are speculating the cause of death. I mean 28 yr. olds just don't drop dead for no reason and they are saying that there were prescription pills near his body but does that mean it was a suicide?! For fcuk's sake! These "respected" outlets are becoming more and more tabloid-like.

A Knight's Tale was a great movie and I too was looking forward to him playing the Joker in the upcoming Batman movie. We'll miss you Heath.

Are you the guy that wears inappropriate T-Shirts to funerals? Just wondering.

In all seriousness however, I felt he was pretty talented.

Sad for sure, a knights tale was hilarious. Man I hope they don't find any creatine or vitamins, then they will have an open and shut case.

I was hoping someone would say something about his death. Shocked me. Most of his movies were great, and he was so young. Scary, only about a year older than myself. He will be missed.

He was one of the up and coming young actors, could have had a great career ahead of him, especially with him in the new Batman.

If a random stranger came into my room they would probably think i was running some kind of drug store. How many people have bottles of pills lying around. If it comes out that he overdosed then so be it but i dont think its fair for the public to point the finger and call it another Hollywood overdose when know body knows the cause of death yet.

Serious bummer. His death will certainly take some of the fun out of the next Batman flick, but I'll view it as a final homage to his great talent.

RIP Heath.

I agree with that. I have bottles beside my bed but if I died that would not be the cause.

Dr. Drew said it's pretty hard for a young male to die from an ambien overdose which I guess was what the pills were. Given the facts at the time, he seemed to think it may been unrelated to drugs or some weird interaction issue.

"The Teachings of Don Juan" advise that death is our constant companion, hovering without pause “just over our left shoulder,” relentlessly waiting to ensnare us, perhaps when we expect it least.

Don Juan admonished Castenada to never forget this fact, to always keep the cold reality of his imminent death in mind, for always, only one breath separated us from it.

Because it is real, acknowledging death’s presence dissolves the illusion held by most people: that they will always have a second chance tomorrow to do what they meant to do today. That notion is simply untrue, and that notion - that we always will have time - keeps people from doing what they want or need to do when they have the time to do it, and that time is right now.

By keeping in mind our imminent death, he said, we view each sunset as though it was our last, make amends when we cause hurt, enjoy the warmth and closeness of a hug from someone we love as though we may never see them again.

For we may never again have the opportunity offered by this moment, for our end is as close as our next breath. That is real. And, that reality should always motivate us to act now.

This is real sad, I'm 27 and the first thing I thought was "Sh!t, he's just 1 year older then me" :( The guy never seemed like he had baggage to me. He never bragged about snorting coke with his dad's ashes like Keith Richards or bit the head off a bat like Ozzie.

May the man RIP in a better place.

You an me both......

Oh man me three! Pill bottle after pill bottle after pill bottle!!! Closet, drawers, desktop, kitchen! Even in the bathroom!!

This is definately a sad thing to hear. I pray for his family and the little one he left behind!

It's "rumored" that he was under much stress lately. He had stated the role of the joker made him lose sleep, but other factors may have been his recent break up with his girlfriend who bore is daughter. Other rumors state he had been a "fixture" in the club scene over the last 2-3 months.

Again..all rumors and all substantiated as of yet.

Apparently he lived in a hotel for a month by himself working on the voice, body language, and psychology of the joker.

“…for the Joker I locked myself away in a hotel room for six weeks. I just formulated a voice and a posture and found a real psychology behind the Joker. I really put a lot of work into it"

When asked by MTV about the experience, Ledger said, “It’s the most fun I’ve had with a character and probably will ever have.” Ledger went on to say, “It was an exhausting process. At the end of the day I couldn’t move. I couldn’t talk. I was absolutely wrecked.”

Miss you bro, say hello to heaven...

i had heard 2 different reasons for his death:

he got addicted to crack during brokeback mountain and had an overdose.

he died of alcohol poisoning, too many c*#k sucking cowboys...

sorry, but for some people humour is a way of dealing so i thought i'd put up the jokes i got sent.
no disrespect meant.

"Principal photography on "The Dark Knight" finished in the fall; as of Tuesday, the pic is still scheduled for a July 18 bow.

The status of the pic's marketing campaign, however, is uncertain. The first phase is built around the Joker and images of his character are particularly ghoulish. Warner execs were still grappling with the news on Tuesday and had no comment on how they would proceed."

...Would be a huge shame if they started altering the movie or the campaign due to this, would seem to be a dishonor to the preparation and devotion he lent to the film.

The whole situation kind of reminds me of when Brandon Lee died. His final film was a high note, one of his best, which played on some of the darker aspects of life that were kind of relevant to his passing. Hopefully Ledger's last film will be the same for him, a pinnacle to his career that was extinguished so suddenly. RIP.

And if this film turns out to be as great a performance as Lee's was, perhaps Heath Ledger will also attain that kind of immortality that is only achieved when a bright start burns out all too early...

Indeed, I was thinking the same thing. Ending a film carreer with a dark character in facial makeup even. History is repetative sometimes...

The ever classy Fox News anchors strike again...

"Fox News’ John Gibson on Jan. 22 opened his radio show with funeral music and mocked a signature line from “Brokeback,” saying, “Well, he found out how to quit you.” (When Gibson was contacted to explain his comments, he declined.)"

"The medical examiner has concluded that actor Heath Ledger's death was an accident, and the result of the abuse of prescription medications."

That's a shame. It really is, but at least people aren't going to continue destroying his reputation over some alleged recreational drug use (cocaine, heroine, etc).
