If you are using hushmail or cyber-rights to communicate, your conversations don't seem to be too secure at all.

It was an undercover dea agent using the hushmail account and people would write to this rat asking for their "gear" so I don't see how that says its not secure....Am I missing something?. Maybe I'm just tired?

Don't be fooled T-Bone. The feds have seized all the email accounts form the labs. They have been working with some of these labs prior to all the busts. So if the labs had not given up your email you may have been safe. However not everyne deletes emails so the feds will have access to email acounts and transactions

The canadian government was working with the DEA. subpoenas were issued and hush is cooperating. Everything was handed over.

Hush is completely compromised.

Around page 5 of that document, it says how Hush Communications is cooperating with the authorities.

Didn't read the link, but I saw a thread about how they were delivering CD's worth of email communique, IP addresses, etc. to the DEA.

It reminds me of the anonymous remailer out of Norway in the early 90s, I think he got 'forced' to turn over any and all records that he wasn't supposed to have kept.

Scary stuff...

It's the internet so nothing is going to be secure because you're dealing with the human aspect of it as well. The product may be secure but the people behind it may not be.

Secure email sites as well as internet proxies still have to conform with Warrants and such. These companies do a good job fighting off the small time lawyers and such, but not the FED.

Would this be a bad place to pimp supplements you can but direct from Nutra Planet with no need for a secure anything except your credit card? :)

Which is why most are outside of US soil. Hell, they set up online casino's on old oil rigs just off the coast to thwart US jurisdiction.

Yeah but you don't cross into US based architecture when gambling on an oil rig. As soon as your communication path touches anything in the US the FED can investigate it. Also, if you think the Gov. of the country that hosts the mail servers or proxies won't do the bidding of the US GOV then you'd be mistaken. It happens more than you think.

i was going to post that before but wasnt sure if i could.
Anyway, the document is pretty good in the way it shows exactly how the feds conducted the investigation. Its good for other UGL's to pick apart and become more secure. As far as hush, well they said from the start if you read the agreement and such that they would turn over email accounts if warranted to do so. Does mailvault say the same? And like Jay said, there is always the human aspect that can fvck you anyway.

They have indited allot of labs and suppliers in other countries. If you use mail and lied then guess what. yOU HAVE COMITTED FRAUD AND THE COMPANY YOU SENT IT TO IS NOW INVLOVED, SO ALLOT countries are working with the US

Man, why did it ever come to this ? I hope this dies down after the Olympics ! How about catching some pedophiles, let's not just hope Chris Hanson catches them all by himself !

Sad days for personal freedom.
I guess all us meat heads will need to learn to use PGP (or GnuPG) and do our own security insted of these third parties?

Public key encryption is such a complex topic though... But understanding it is worth the piece of mind.
