as much as i love recompadrol, gda's ect i really don't see how they would actually prevent or magically block calories. i mean what % of difference would they make if your taking in over 200+ grams of fat + upper 800g of carbs and unknown protein, your still screwed lol and doubt any supplement is going to change that, maybe for a 500-1000 surplus "cheat" they would help mitigate slightly but even then lol, i feel like planned refeeds are far better anyway and have positive effects, the notion of “cheating” is absurd. categorizing foods as “clean” or “cheats” you keep on developing that poor relationship with your diet.

yeah i do agree and i had wicked results with recompadrol in 2013 when i slow bulked for most of the year kept foods and macros exactly the same but wasn't really tracking after a while because i stayed consistent the whole time eating the same meals pretty much, really allowed me to get away with not tracking as crazy while still eating huge amounts of your typical bro foods gradually increasing carbs only over time everything else fell into place, and let me continue on in the surplus for way longer. but still learning from mistakes now i know how to track properly i think it could be even more effective for that this year helping maintain insulin sensitivity for days i slip up or fall off the wagon a bit for food choices, but by no means use it as a key to getting away with eating like an idiot lol

3MHD is an anabolic stack, but in enjoying its repartitioning effect greatly. Are very junky over holidays but I have only been getting compliments on how much bigger my muscles look :D

i think the point of many gda ingredients is to prevent fluctuations in blood glucose and the insulin spikes. keeping blood sugar stable is key.

then there is the shuttling of nutrients, the fact they help with getting bigger pumps, and in theory should help get the nutrients where we need them most.

of course these days other ingriedents go beyond just blood sugar control

I like refeeds as well


There's always a % inhibition with products like this via alpha glucosidase

Yea, I don't think any of us believe we can pop a few pills and magically eat whatever we want all the time. If we did, we'd all be morbidly obese. I don't believe that by taking these supplements before a cheat that I'm erasing the damage I'm doing to my diet. However, I do feel much better the next day (less bloat, etc.) and generally look better as well.

I've done "refeeds" and I've done "cheats" and I am still able to maintain a healthy relationship with my nutrition. I'm currently 5'7", 166lbs and around 9% body fat. After new years day (and a huge Buckeye victory) I am guessing that will change, haha but I know I'll be able to get right back on track.

The beauty of these forums is that, for the most part, we all have great control over our training, diet, goals, etc. Not trying to get flamed but I do crossfit (with Wendler 5/3/1 as my strength work) and workout with a lot of animals but also people who are just starting or struggle with nutrition, etc. I am very careful not to laugh and talk about my cheats in front of them like I would here because if they are not at their goal body fat percent then it is a recipe for disaster. I've seen many people who are trying to get in shape hear ripped guys/girls talk about glorious feats of eating and think they can do the same. Doesn't work that way.

So you guys are definitely correct in that I would never tout GDA's to be any sort of magic pill that lets you eat what you want. But I know my body and I know they help with bloat, etc., when I stray from my diet.

Now, can we get back to the food porn?!!

Aside from ALA and N-R-ALA, I got some of my best results from two ingredients that have largely fallen out of favor over the years : Cinnulin PF and D-Pinitol. I never see D-Pinitol in anything any more, but I felt like it was one of the most effective I have used. This was probably 5-6 years ago the last time that I used these, though.

Only GDA I've ever used is Recompadrol. Been using it for years only on cheat meals, so 2-3 times per month

I would keep it on nom training days on last meal of the day at 4 caps as well to drop the sugars and aid in a deeper sleep

Generally I wake up drier that way

My vote for Recompadrol.
EBF, does the aminoguanidine in the Recompadrol have a blood "thinning" effect or is it more of a cleaning out?

It's acting as and AGE inhibitor and aids slightly in pump

The dose in there is not very high per day so I wouldn't worry too much on that front

i do regular 300mgs ala (so roughly 150mgs r-ala)
and 500mgs-1000mgs agmatine depending on the size of the meal.

Question guys. I understand not needing a GDA post work regarding eating afterwards but say I workout then eat a meal then 4 hours later eat again, Would it then be beneficial to use a GDA for the second meal?

R-ala vs na-r-ala, what dosage would you recommend for the former prior to carb heavy meal?
Na-RALA at 300mg or split into two 150mg doses prior to carb meals.

R-ALA at 600-900mg prior to carb meals.

I've had good luck with Glycobol and Burn 24, both stacked with R-ALA. I sometimes throw in decaffeinated green tea extract (with a high EGCG yield) for additional metabolic support.
