Frosting Cupcakes and Baking Churro's: A Finaflex Dual-Log

Finaflex Clean Protein Frosted Churro

Invalid Link Removed
Driven2lift and myself have the opportunity of putting Finaflex Clean Protein to the test.
Recipes, shakes, and sludge will be experienced as Dylan and myself give this a whirl.

I hope we get some of the AM Community to follow along as we rate this protein with our honest thoughts.
Through trials in baking, cooking, and with basic uses lets see how this stacks against other protein powders on the market.

Our tubs should arrive in a few days since they were just recently shipped. Upon getting them we will start blasting away with some recipes to the AM community.

So Far we have had these as requests:
Shake
Protein Pudding/Sludge
Frosted Cupcakes
Cookies
Brownies

We will be sure to tackle all of these recipes and more. The goal is to be honest and see just what Frosted Churro is all about! Until then we will be brainstorming how to load this log with foodporn for the followers.

I'm in! Recently stepped up my game a bit to go from proats and sludge to muffins and cookies. Eager to see what you're going to do with this!

And, of course, to see what you think about the protein itself.

I request churros.
If you find a way to make healthy, delicious, diabetes-free churros - I'm in.

Ooh, dual log. This is going to be good.

I request churros.
If you find a way to make healthy, delicious, diabetes-free churros - I'm in.

Too late, you're in already. No going back

This will be a blast, I feel like my tub will arrive a few days later than Bob's but I will catch up!

By all means throw requests at us, I'm sure between both of us we can knock out most of them :)

Thanks again Finaflex for the promo and opportunity here!

Make this. Churro French toast. I've heard if a ginger makes a healthy version of this it'll give them a soul.

Taste

Frosted Churro – A churro is labeled as a fried-dough pastry. Usually covered in cinnamon to make a “Frosted Churro”. Going into this protein I was expecting a very strong cinnamon based protein with a doughy aftertaste. Upon first sip you get a strong presence of a snicker doodle (cinnamon sugar). The aftertaste has a very mild hint of dough. While it does combine both elements the cinnamon flavor is the dominant trademark. The ratio of fried dough and cinnamon is in favor of cinnamon, but that is not something easy to pull off for a first time flavor on the protein market. It is a very good replica of a Churro for a protein powder.

Mixability

6oz of Almond Milk + Few ice Cubes + 1 Scoop Protein
I could start to see the protein mixing before I even threw this on the blender. The powder is light (even for a blend) and mixes with ease. No clumps or anything sticking to the side of the blender.

Cost

31.99 for a 2lb tub. While you are paying a bit over 10$/lb (Standard) it may be something to consider for a unique flavor. Another protein company to this date has not done frosted Churro. This was a bit of a twist on a typical cinnamon, snicker doodle type flavor. If this was on special I would consider it, paying upward to 15$/lb is quite steep for most that try to find a very cost effective protein powder.

Great first review, Solution.

Have this on the way. Subbed for ideas from the masterminds of protein baking.

Don't forget to use it in your coffee as a creamer. Actually it taste great in coffee. Add 1.5 teaspoons to cup then add the coffee and stir!

The cost is a little less per serving since there is 30 servings to the tub instead of the traditional 26/27 servings. And it's on sale on NutraPlanet for $27 with a free Creatine Energy tub.

Every time.

Hope my package is here in the next day or two so I can see if I agree with Chef Bob ;)

Love me some good Easter cookies, but nothing beats Christmas cookies......haha

Sludge

Invalid Link Removed

1 Scoop Finaflex Frosted Churro + 6oz Greek Yogurt (Plain)

Simple. Effective, and taste is on point. Again this protein you get a stronger cinnamon sugar flavor out of the gate. The presence of dough is in the aftertaste which is not as strong. In sludge this seemed stronger in flavored compared to the regular shake. The endless mix-in opportunities for a sludge bowl is never ending. Cinnamon Toast Crunch or SnickerDoodle Cookies crushed up on top? Yes please.

As a shake 3.75/5 as sludge 4/5
Good stuff.

Can't argue here!

I just mixed the Strawberry and the Churro and found one of my favorite flavors. Can't describe the flavor as I consumed it too quick.

so in. I just bought 1kg of vitafiber and I hope to see some things on here with it. Not sure what to make other than protein truffles and quest bars with it lol.

Lol I wish I still had some, I would have.
Might order more

Rice Pudding. one of my staples
I can cook this two ways

Lazy man way ---> 6oz greek yogurt + 140g Rice (about 50g Raw) + 1 scoop whey
or bake in the oven with eggs, yogurt, cashew milk/almond milk + Splenda + baking powder + Whey

Sometimes you just got to be lazy. Honestly I enjoyed this better than just sludge. The texture of the cooked rice gives it a bit more volume.

^I'll give this a go in COR, too, bet that was nice and savoury

Still no package here yet, which is not abnormal at all up here. Fingers crossed on it showing up soon

Ice Cream coming up this weekend.
Will get some baking in as well.
Sludge with Cinnamon Toast Crunch = Nom Nom Nom at the moment.
What do you want to see baked?
SnickerDoodle Frosted Churro Cookies?
My brownie pan is taken by co-workers because i made them some brownies last week. When i get it back I could whip up a batch with a Cinnamon Roll or Peanut Butter Lean Glaze (possibly blondies)
Driven2lift what kind of recipes you going to fire off right away? So we don't overlap

I will know for sure soon,
Wanted to taste it first

Taste

I honestly do not have a lot of experience with Churros but I can tell you that this protein on its own in some milk with ice tasted like a liquified cinnamon sugar pastry.
Many would think "so, a cinnamon bun?"
Not quite because those are generally sweeter, with icing, and more of a baked bread than a "doughy" pastry which IMO is what this went for.

Perfect amount of sweetness to allow contrast, this cinnamon shines. Wondering which type was used TBH, I know you can order the same bulk used by Cinnabon

I can't wait to try this out in oats! Will update.

Mixability

Tub says it mixes instantly, not a lie. I shook up my Nutrabullet cup and I swear it fully mixed before I even blended it. I will redo this in a shaker before final review.

My thoughts on this? Not bad at all. Quality sources, perfect amount of thickeners for me, with 7 carbs it is one of the highest in my stash, so I held taste to a higher standard in comparison.
FinaFlex did good here

Cost

Bob nailed down the specifics, what I can say is that it is worth the price tag, Will be buying!

Going down:
Layered Churro Cheesecake
Churro Pancake stack
A Mexican chocolate churro fudge? Working on what exactly for this one

Stay tuned ;)

Sounds like this is a pretty good product.

How does it stack up against other cinnamon flavors you've tried?

I cant compare it to others, cinnamon is a strong accent here but a lot of the taste is "pastry"

My #1 cinn. is still COR, fave off the line.
This does not beat it as a cinnamon,

But on uniqueness and overall taste it is worth having as a protein option. I have 3 cinn. Variants already but still buying this, very different.

And an update I neglected to mention before,

This tub smells amazing.
I could live in it.
In my Top 3 aroma's from a protein tub
