295 set called for 6, went until my fat ass couldn't catch my breath, lmao, conditioning is still horrible, even though weights flew, no issues...I did rush through this one and opted to not warm up my hips, so you can actually hear my left hip click fairly loudly during the 3rd and 5th reps of the 1st set @ 275, and occasionally during the remaining sets...this only happens when I don't do my typical warm up for hips/groin.

1st day back at it in over a month. 2018 has moved fast. Finally got my wife's car fixed, after she was rear ended the day before my December meet, their insurance was stalling for a while...my 7yr old has had the time of his life playing his first season of basketball...mandatory 16s @ work have slowed down a bit....ooooo, and dem BIRDZ are WORLD CHAMPS....still haven't wrapped my head around that one yet, but loving every bit of it.

in other news, so out of shape. Squats were easy and moved fast, just crazy out of breath afterwards, lol....easing my way back into it.

that's awesome about your kid! my boy is 8 and in his 2nd year of boys basketball. He really loves the game and is starting to 'get' it.

dont' worry about being out of shape...I feel that way after 1-2 weeks out. but it always comes back fast. one hard week then you're back in the groove.

Man I just noticed that you are damn near nose to wall when racking and unracking the weight. You really don't have any room for error in there. I bet it was a little weird unracking the weight the first time being that close.

haha, trial and error brother, trial and error...I have gotten into the habit of actually resting my forehead on the wall ever so slightly, while tightening up my back prior to unracking...as a fairly calm lifter, it's almost ritual-esque, and used to clear my head especially with heavier squats, lol.

love those deficit deads.

nothing has helped build my Deads better than Deficits and Front Squats...and every now and again, when I feel like kicking my own ass, I pull from a deficit and add pause below the knees.

these sessions always destroy my upper back in a good way...endurance is still way off cause 8 reps had me sucking air pretty good...energy has been fairly low, going on 2 weeks of low carb and IF, as well as no pre workout.
 
That will do it and it is really harder to breathe with front squats anyway, at least for me.

fighting sinus congestion heading into this, some nasal spray relieved some of the pressure, but had to constantly wipe my nose throughout...was also pressed for time because my oldest had early dismissal due to crappy weather, so rushed into Bench and Deads with no warm up reps.

sinus issues* may be viral, will be heading to the Dr's in a bit...def impacted the session, felt like **** throughout, but since it forced me to miss yesterday's session, I just moved what would have been Saturdays sesh to today...I have a family get together Saturday night anyways...everything still moved well, other than squats, they felt like death.

still don't feel anywhere near like myself...the worst of the Flu is over with, still dealing with a lot of mucus/congestion, and for whatever reason tension headaches...1 more day on Tamiflu.

Feels like forever since I lifted, yet again....the flu absolutely kicked my ass, and subsequently lead to a very bad sinus infection...I've never dealt with pressure like that before, and was almost crippled for a couple of days by headaches and nausea...anyway, decided to actually let my body recover instead of giving my immune system another reason to kick the bucket...today I picked up right where I left off.

thx, def takes some time to get used to 16 hr shifts while working graveyard shift.

Really don't like getting mandatory myself since it takes me forever to recovery. Don't mind my Thurs or Friday though. Doesn't happen to often for me since there are a few people who love to take all the OT they can get.

yeaman, we have vacancies that result in forced OT way too often, mon and wed doesn't hurt my home schedule too much, but tues/thurs/fri not only force me to miss sessions, but screws me when it comes to child care.

energy was off today, for whatever reason...was definitely a grinder of a session either way, which felt great...disappointing top set on bench, strength is still no where near where it was in December...Squats were ok, misgrooved on one of the reps on the 1st set, every remaining rep felt fine....ready to grub, dinner date with the Mrs., and then off to watch some sorta movie called the Avengers, or Avenge her's, or somethin' like that, :yawn:

I didn't like it better than I liked Winter Soldier, but it was still good. They usually try too hard to be funny, but the humor in this one was legitimately funny.

Wife and I went to see Rampage too. It was also good and was just a generally fun movie.

Ragnorak was probably my favorite

I lost it when Starlord made that comment about Thanos’ chin ?.
 
def had a lot of moving parts, but at this point Marvel can do no wrong....thoroughly enjoyed it! ...and Ragnarok was a pleasant surprise, thought it would be cheesy...and other than Deadpool, Guardians 2 was as funny as I can remember, while also being a solid film.
 
I thought Ragnarok was one of their worst movies.

I liked it but it didn't really have a much of a real story line like the other marvel movies. It seemed like it was just meant to be more whimsical and fun to watch. I think they realized how much people liked the humor and fun poking between Thor and Hulk and wanted to make a fun movie capitalizing on that. Not so much a major story line. In all honestly I think the Thor movies have been the most lackluster out of the ones I have seen and I own all 3 of them.

Although I haven't seen Ant Man yet.

I liked the first Thor, the second was meh. Ragnarok could have been great, but they ruined it with poorly timed jokes that just weren't funny. That rock golem that the director played should never have made it into the movie. He was terrible, worse than Jar Jar Binks.

A lot of serious **** went down in Ragnarok, but you'd never know because it was more of a terrible stand-up than a legitimate movie.

Thor's interactions with the other characters in Infinity War are much better.

The first Guardians was so awful that we didn't even bother seeing the second.

I thought Marvel royally screwed up Civil War. That was the movie I was most looking forward to, and they ruined it with poorly timed, unfunny jokes. None of it felt serious at all. They did the same with Ragnarok, IMO.

Back from a week off...was just way too busy last week, getting ready for a friend's wedding on Saturday, while also celebrating my wife's b-day on Thursday, and planning for my son's b-day this upcoming Thursday (party this Saturday)...picked up where I left off, nothing really to complain about.

one of those days where I would rather have done almost anything other than lift weights...back was crazy tight from yard work, and house prep for my son's b-day party tomorrow, which is why I moved what would have been Saturdays session, to today..got it done, but dragged a$$...weight's gradually falling off, would like to be back under 190 lbs before the end of the month, and eventually hold around 185.

Exhaustion can do that. You have been go go go in regular life so recovery is harder on you.

Definitely...worst part, other than recovery, is eating typically goes to hell...usually stuck eating whatever the kitchen Sargeant can cook up, usually sh.itty state hot dogs or sh.itty state burgers.
