I'm planning to experiment with cyclodextrin complexing. The goal is to improve the absorption of various compounds. I've read several studies and it doesn't seem to be too difficult to do at home. At least the kneading method seems quite simple. Only ethanol, cyclodextrin and some kitchen appliances are needed.
I remember seeing a bulk supplement powder store selling cyclodextrins a long time ago, but I could not find one now. Now there are some sites that sell it for research labs for an insanely expensive price. Gamma-cyclodextrin is available on Alibaba for about 50 $ / kilogram, but I'm quite suspicious about the quality and I'm not sure about the minimum order size. I don't want to buy 25 kg.
When studying cyclodextrins, I remember reading something about endotoxins. Is purity a major issue?
I have access to a lab and I might be able to do quality control to see that my home-brewing forms complexes.
