At least you wont have to worry about going hypoglycemic anytime soon... diabetes however...

Another reason I lift is to have an overall better sense of wellbeing. I do not know a single person that does not feel better both physically and mentally after working out. And while I was a Marine, it gave my days that uplifting feeling no matter what was going on.

Well
Probably a good reason why most of the kids i teach are not in the greatest of shape seeing this is what they consider their "lunch"

Another reason i like to workout is because i enjoy my cheat meals and moderation :)

^^ Agree
I love lifting and cutting because looking in the mirror and seeing the change is motivation to push harder and keep cutting and see how far you can take your body.

For sure, especially leading up to a show. If ab veins don't motivate you to continue sticking to your diet I don't know what will.

I love to lift
why? its 4;40 AM and i am about to have the gym to myself on a friday and smash a workout before heading to school
THATS WHY!

For sure, especially leading up to a show. If ab veins don't motivate you to continue sticking to your diet I don't know what will.

Repped

I lift because I love it. The euphoria after a good lift is hard to match outside of sex & drugs lol

I have not ever had "Ab Veins" in my life (I'm 56) and I am Just starting to see them !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

54 here and ab veins would be amazing to see! Nice job brother!

I lift because it allows me to eat more ha. Seriously though. Pre-workout pop-tarts and PWO cereal?! who wouldn't love that.

I lift because I can. By that I mean am alive and able. Five years ago I lost my job of 13 years, had been a social drinker but idle mind became a devils workshop , I started drinking at breakfast, because I had no responsibilities at all and that became my everyday, all day. Until I could not stop doing it because I started trembling and would need to "level off". One day I didn't. Felt fuzzy, took a shot, puked it up, tried to rede allow it, no luck. That's all I remember. Seven days later I wake up in ICU , having been what I was told was one of the worst cases of acute alcohol withdrawal the university hospital had seen in many years. They induced me into a coma, believing I would possibly not walk or talk right again. Needless to say they were wrong. I don't go to meetings, haven't had a drink since that day. Don't want to drink anything unless it has AMINOS IN IT!!!! Fact: I lift because I love life and want to feel the best I can. Besides that looking far better now that my body isn't catabolizing itself to sustain. That's about it. It is a far better thing to be addicted to.

I vividly remember the first time I saw ab veins. It was in a wall size picture of a shirtless guy at Structure (the old Express Men's). I couldn't stop staring. I was in shock that those veins even existed. Fast forward 10 or so years, and after getting drunk every weekend is no longer part my life, I too got ab veins!!!

I started lifting like everyone else, to lose weight. But I CONTINUE to lift because a year ago I tore a hole in my carotid artery at work and had a stroke. Thing was, I didn't even know I was having one! Doctors told me there was no explanation why I didn't die and that my healthy lifestyle along with a guardian angel and my husband is what saved me! Love me some weights!!

Powerful! Thanks for sharing and continue the journey WONDERWOMAN!!!

Thanks for the compliment. Keep them coming. Just making me work harder.
What? I don't see a difference! Jk. Shredded brother (even if you eat a ton)!

I lift to see how far i can push my body, its limits, and how far i can transform my body for the better. Not only health wise but longevity wise!

I lift to de-stress. Any built up stress/anger can be used for my own good by taking it out on the iron

I lift to blow off steam. I find myself frustrated with personal things quite often and having a healthy way to vent is key for maintaining my sanity ha

I lift to stay dedicated and Consistent with all other aspects of life. Just like your social life, your job, your diet if you slip on one thing you may slip another .

I lift to prove something to myself. Its not to show off or brag its between me and the iron.

I like to lift to prove to the judges that placed me how they did in my first show that i will come back stronger and leaner for my 2nd show, and it showed on stage.

I Just Like To Lift !!

I lift to see myself grow. I set reasonable goals and strive for them, at times i may fall short but that means I needed a different approach and learn for the next time. This carries over into other dimensions of life and makes life easier to manage.

I lift to be better then I was the day before. I'm always out to improve myself in any facet of life.

I thought you just lifted so you could post selfies of yourself at the gym.

Youve seen that once but then again my selfies seem to motivate you enough to post about it so I will be sure to do them more often lol

So many reasons to lift.... I have to agree with booneman; lifting has been essential for keeping my sanity!

Lifting is my passion for waking up and fueling me for the day
its 4:45 and i am leaving right now to go murder the weights and hit some PR's before school starts.

I lift because I care about my health, want to live a long life, and still be fit enough to enjoy being active with my kids when I have them. Thinking ahead!

Just dont be that guy half squatting and with crippled knees by 30 :)

That might be me, at 30years old I hit a PR of 595lbs, now I need a knee replacement my max squat in 225lbs and my right leg is 2" smaller than my left. (That is why you will not see any pic's of me in shorts) But I Still Squat As Low AS I Can !!

I lift to help with my own body image issues. I've never had a high opinion of my own size/shape so I do my best every day to improve towards my ideal physique

I lift to prove others who doubted me wrong. A lot of people always told me i could never Squat, Bench, or DL Numbers at a certain bodyweight, and after achieving them and going further, it drives me to see my full potential.

So how do we know that it's working?

Well, uh... I mean I think it is...

Absolutely. Many thought it was silly for me to pursue bodybuilding (before physique came about, of course) when I would do better in figure (or bikini when that division started around 2009). nearly 10 years and 30-40lb. later it feels pretty good to have believed in myself and what I wanted to do, not what others thought I should do. Keep killing it sir, your lifts are already ridiculous and last I checked they were always going up.

Boom
Going from 240 pounds to down to around 125 and almost anorexic then taking lifting serious and now up to 170-180 pounds and much healthier and stronger i would never change lifting because it has helped me become healthier!

I lift because I love it. Simple as that. It's by far my favorite hobby I've ever had and one that I'm willing to make sacrifices in other areas for. I enjoy reading and learning as well as experimenting and doing all of the various aspects.

I lift because it is good use of my time. Otherwise I would be watching TV or something to kill time. I am being productive and accomplishing things with every lift
