What do you listen to while you workout?

I do believe a topic like this would belong in the Training Forum, seeing as how it has to with what music we listen to and what music motivates us while training. I figured I'd make a thread for all of us to share our playlists with one another, so those of us with iPods, or whatever you use, can have some variety to listen to while we're in the gym.

All I know is, I need a new iPod. I can't stand listening to the same sh!t on XM Radio, which they play in my gym. Nelly Furtado and other poppy sh!t just doesn't cut it for me, lol.

hi,

yes i know what you mean about listening to the same music over again, that happens at my school! but where i train we can change the stereo ourself, i sometimes take my I-Pod, make sure u have music that motivates you like heavy metal, rap, rock etc... trust me i decided to try working out to some R&B and some soft pop etc and it was one of the worst workouts ever...

a few examples of what i listen too:
Benny Benassi
DJ Tiesto
Armin Van Burren
Akon
Ramstein
MOS (Ministry of Sound)
Eminem
Justin Timberlake
Timbaland
Fort Minor
DJ Alligator
Linkin Park....

The list is endless, be careful though even though loud music motivates it can be harmful, i found it can even affect my workouts, so have it at a realistic level!!!

I've noticed that some Techno makes for a pretty good workout.

I listen to something similar to the soundtrack of 'A Night At the Roxbury' and Darren Hayes. A lot of Darren Hayes's music is very trance and techno. In case you don't know, he's the vocalist from Savage Garden. A lot of his solo stuff is pretty good.

I usually prefer Metal, Rap, Rock, or Techno while working out.

My gym really needs to toss out XM and get Sirius instead. I'm still getting a new iPod though, lol.

Iron Maiden, Pantera, Ensiferum, Dragon Lance, Godsmack, Slayer, Metallica, Avenged Sevenfold

Anything loud hard and fast where they don't sound like a roaring lion is cool by me. Talk about intense workouts.

Here's my current iPod playlist for working out-

Anthrax-Sound of White Noise(A thrash classic)
Atreyu-Lead Sails and Paper Anchors
Fear Factory-Obsolete
Fugazi-13 Songs
Hell Yeah-Self Titled
Helmet-Unsung(greatest hits)

Atreyu and Hell Yeah only get a handful of songs played during my workouts, b/c they only have a handful of songs that I can stomach.

I've always been a die-hard Atreyu fan and always will be. LSPA was a big step for them. They were reaching out to try something different for once and they succeeded. I think it's a well-done album. I like 'The Curse' and 'A Death-grip on Yesterday' also. If you haven't seen them live yet and you get a chance, then you must go. I saw them on Warped Tour a couple of years ago and they throw one hell of a performance. I met them afterwards. Very nice guys.

I enjoy a lot of fast, loud, heavy music while lifting also. It's all on a seperate playlist of its own, far away from the Rap of course.

Artist - Song Title

Atreyu - 'Honor', 'Falling Down', 'Right Side of the Bed', 'Becoming the Bull', 'Bleeding Mascara', 'Blow', 'Doomsday', 'Epic', 'Ex's and Oh's', 'Our Sick Story', 'Shameful', 'When Two Become One', 'You Give Love a Bad Name'

Avenged Sevenfold - 'Dear God', 'Afterlife', 'Almost Easy', 'Critical Acclaim', 'Bat Country', 'Beast and the Harlot', 'Betrayed', 'Seize the Day', 'I Won't See You Tonight Part 1', 'Lost', 'M.I.A.', 'Scream', 'Strength of the World', 'Trashed and Scattered', 'Unholy Confessions'

All That Remains - 'It Dwells in Me', 'Not Alone', 'Six', 'The Air That I Breathe', 'The Deepest Grey', 'This Calling', 'Whispers (I Hear You)'

Still Remains - 'White Walls'

As I Lay Dying - 'Confined'

Bullet For My Valentine - 'Suffocating Under Words of Sorrow', 'The End', 'Tears Don't Fall'

CKY (Camp Kill Yourself) - 'Attached At the Hip', '96 Quite Bitter Beings', 'Escape From Hellview', 'Flesh Into Gear', 'Sink Into the Underground', 'Familiar Realm', 'Sporadic Movement', 'Suddenly Tragic', 'Frenetic Amnesic', 'Close Yet Far', 'Disengage the Simulator', 'To All of You', 'The Human Drive In Hi-Fi', 'Tripled Manic State', 'Don't Hold Your Breath', 'Sniped'

Eighteen Visions - 'Crushed', 'I Let Go', 'Tonightless', 'Brokenhearted'

Escape The Fate - 'Situations'

Evergreen Terrace - 'Maniac'

I'm a hardcore pirate when it comes to music and movies. One of my favorite websites was Album Base, but the RIAA and FBI have had their site shutdown. I was so disappointed.

I have a friend who's into Infected Mushroom. I just never bothered to give them a listen, but I'm gonna sample some stuff on CDNow and download anything I like.

Thanks for the suggestions, man.

If you like anything Industrial, then try giving Rammstein a listen. They're German, but you can get some of their music in English as well. Even if you can't understand their language, a lot of their music is pretty intense. I have yet to see them live, but would love to sometime. Maybe when my buddies and I go to Germany for Oktoberfest within the next year or two. Those guys are f-ucking crazy! Look some of their concert footage up on Youtube. I don't think I'd ever be able to set myself on fire, or wear a flamethrower on my face that constantly spits out fire.

First post here, I'm new to the forum. Hello everyone!

Just wanted to say that I'm suprised nobody has mentioned HATEBREED yet! Nothing works quite as well for me as their music.

It's not just the music that drives me through a tough lifting session, but also the lyrics are very inspirational and positive.

Metal/Hardcore fans, give it a go if you haven't yet. You won't be disappointed!

techno when i do cardio.

usually hiphop when i lift, it provides a nice beat for lifting cadence and aggression.

sometimes hardcore/metal, IE in flames, Etown concrete, madball, all that remains.

Seether just about always does it for me. There is also...

-Chevelle
-Shinedown
-Three Days Grace
-Staind (older stuff)

Metal and rock for me. Practically all of the "Supremacy" and "Perserverance" albums by Hatebreed (my sig). Slipknot, Rage Against The Machine, Dry Kill Logic, Limp Bizkit, it all gets me pumped and raises my aggression...

Awesome Fatstrings, I feel the same way with songs like "Facing What Consumes You" "A Call for Blood", "To The Threshhold", "Perserverance", their lyrics are perfect for lifting.

My favourite training albums at the moment are Allegiance by As Blood Runs Black and Messengers by August Burns Red :)

There is just something that I love about the Sick Puppies. Their album is definitely worth a listen, but look into downloading 'All The Same, My World, Anywhere But Here,' and 'Too Many Words.' These songs will be going on my iPod.

I've also come across some new Rap/Hip-Hop/R&B, which I actually have been enjoying. Look into 'The Deepest Hood' by Al Kapone, 'Feelin' Myself' by Dolla, 'Girl You Know' by Scarface, 'Pro Nails' by Kid Sister and Kanye West, 'Suffocate' by J. Holiday, and 'Walk It Out' by DJ Unk.
