What do you all do for a living?

I DRIVE A DODGE STRATUS!!!!! lol

Actually, it's a Jeep. So, it just looks like I've been off-roadin'.

I'm not worried about the ladies. I don't have any trouble in that department. I just would rather drive a nicer car for myself.

A nice ride is not all its cracked up to be. I drive an infiniti, expesive payment Im always anal in parking lots(someone hit an ran..I got in a highspeed chase with them trying to catch them,no luck) some times i wish i still had my 89 toyota celica. It was deffinitly a fun little car. Not pretty but fun.haha

That is why you need a beater. I keep the Lex parked in the garage and drive my Tahoe...

I'm majoring in Finance right now and only have about a year left; but I've got to say...I'm so bored with this stuff. At first I was a Bio major headed towards dental school and lost interest in that...now I'm in Finance and I really have no idea what I want to do with it. I wish I was as focused and dedicated to school as I was bodybuilding.

I'm just worried about not being successful. I'm not someone that needs every ammenity in the world, but I do want to live comfortably without having to worry about money, and I definitely want to provide for a wife and most likely a family further down the road. I've always been the guy to treat any girl I'm with like a queen, so it only makes sense that I want to give my wife everything she wants (hopefully my love being number one of those things, though). If it was only me I had to worry about, as long as I could pay my bills, buy my supplements and go out with friends on the weekends I would be happy; but I want more than that.

The only subjects that really interest me in school are history and theatre. I don't feel that history would lend itself a good job, and theatre just seems impractical. I have a feeling I will just finish out with my BSBA in Finance and then probably move back to Chicago and get a job. See where I go from there.

MAAAAANE!!!! Talk about some BS.

Went and talked today with counselor. She said that they get 180apps/every fall semester for rad-tech and only accept 20!!??

don't be discouraged! that's how it was with my dental hygiene program applications. some of the schools i applied for had 400 applicants and only 20 accepted. I got accepted into 3 out of the 4 schools that i applied for

Thx for the reassurance. I'm also thinking of Physical therapist. I def have the greatest interest in the health/medical field. I just wish I'd have realized this when I was in high school. I just gotta commit myself 110% and realize that mediocrity is not an option.

btw, congrats on those acceptances, that's awesome. The schools prolly thought the same as b5150 said in your signature, lol.

I work @ an autobody shop I have been there 7 years almost 8 I have worked my way up to head painter (let the jokes commence) meaning Iam respnsable for anything that leaves my paint shop whether I painted it did the repair or not. The pay is ok only because I live @ home I have a nice car but it can be more of a burdon because people have no respect for other peoples things. Eventual I want to own my own shop or become a firefighter, I am on a few hiring lists now for the F.F. and they will pay for all of my schooling when I get hired

look into the PA program. i considered becoming a physician's assistant or a pharmacist if i got rejected from dental hygiene school. i figured hey, why not turn failure into even greater success :) but i got in.... i love how my life is turning out though. i could not be happier.

thanks for the congrats.

my parents want me to get in the family business. Im not sure how thats gonna turn out though. It's extremely good in terms of money, but you need to know a lot. (plumbing, electrical, You need to practically know how to build a house from scratch by yourself.)

Did the paramedic thing for a while and just didnt like it.
too much liability and red tape. ultimate goal was to be a fire fighter but i let my cert expire and just didnt have the drive to go back and get it current.
Now I am an electrician currently working in a mine for the great work experience and hours needed to become a journeyman. Then go back to school and get my bachelors in electrical engineering. about 1 year away from journeyman and another 3 semesters of college for the bachelors.

Scholarships. I don't owe anything on my bachelors.

I didn't owe anything for bachelors either but graduate school is a lot different.BTW Reaper aren't you one of the guys going on and on about not helping people and how people don't need help just to work hard? Why didn't you pass on the sholarships and just work harder and pay yourself(Mr.Everyone can and should do it all on their own(lazy sobs,etc.)?:bruce1:

Jobs
1.Teaching & coaching-
The starting salary in texas for teachers is about 40k, and if you teach 3 sports you can pull in close to 45K.
You can do everything you want to do there.
You can train your athlets, tell them how to eat, and get to coach a game.
Plus every year you teach you get a raise the following year.
Plus you only work 9 months out of the year.
If you teach 5-7 years you can be making 50k.

That at least can be your back-up plan. IOW's try and learn those trades (carpentry, masonry, plmbg, etc..) while your going to school, trying to figure out what you're gonna do in the meantime., etc. That way you'll have most of the experience later down the line if you so choose to stick with it. Between semesters work in the field, pay attention to admin/business procedures, and make money.

It will pay off in the longrun if you get some of that exp now while its offered to ya. Might as well take advantage of your recources...

40k sounds like a good starting salary for teachers compared to other states.i checked out AZ and they are desperate for some subjects but pay is not that high from what I saw.more like 35k.I commend you for being in a field where you can help make someones life better.

(im a pre-med/biochemical student)

Police Officer hoping to become a fireman soon. Also going to school to be a PTA then hopefully becoming a PT. I have a BS in special education.

Started out wanting to go to dental school, switched to economics major a couple quarters in. Did that for about a year and hated it so now I just applied to the communications school... Eventually I will get out of school and into a career haha. Some people say communications is a Bull$hit major but im not worried because employers are looking for good employees not just degrees. This thread was a good read. Good luck to everybody.

Field Engineer at Weatherford International... I'm not stuck in an office, and it's fun work. Pays well (6 figures). If I made any less, I'd be in poverty... I spend more than I make already lol

interesting thread...

im a financial analyst for now, but ive recently been selected for a special agent position for DHS. the hiring process is extremely long but i should be getting my academy start date soon. then its off to brunswick, georgia for 12 weeks of training! accepting this position would be a pay cut but salaries advance quickly with the government, and its hard to pass up retirement after 20 years:woohoo: it may be a game time decision because i enjoy what i do now.

in regards to to 35K/year... financial status will greatly depend on your location. i live in scottsdale, and 35K would be rough for me even being single and my car paid off.

careers such as nutrition and personal training are hit or miss IMO. people are really successful or struggle to make a living with it (most cases are the latter). if you wanna go that route, id take it to the highest level.

Scottsdale's definitely not a cheap place to live.

tell me about it. hittin up the scottsdale night clubs, my wallet thinks im in vegas:cheers: on the plus side, scottsdale has gorgeous women everywhere! ill likely be at barcelona or dirty pretty tomorrow:dance:

if i recall correctly, you're in phoenix, right?

I'm still adjusting to this place(AZ).cockroaches all over,no ocean, car accidents and traffic everywhere, rude or stupid people(not everyone),food more expensive,no real city-phoenix-lol.,10 months to finally find some decent pizza, chinese food fugedaboutit so far.I can go on and on complaining but I am statring to enjoy the weather lately and hiking up a mountain is cool.More house for the money, cheaper taxes but pay in other ways-exterminator,food,etc.Need to go to Vegas strike it rich and move to San Diego or northern Cali.Hey say hello to Jim Fassel for me in Scottsdale.peace.

Transportation: going on 7 years now.

Ooof...did that for a few years and hated it...I hated it so much that I quit and went back to school...I made about $40K a year...I'm pretty tight with money, so that was more than enough for me then...now I'm pre-med/pre-pharm w/an Organizational Communicatoin BA and Marketing minor, lol.

I feel like I'm going to be in school FOREVER :frustrate

Time goes by either way(if in school or not)and if you are working toward something better that's great. When you finish you will probably look back and think it went by a lot quicker-like where did all the time(years)go?Good luck.peace.:bb:

Yeah, it's cool to be in college...again! I look young for my age so nobody thinks anything of it...except for the wedding ring on my finger, but that helps keep things strictly scholarly, if you know what I mean :D
