Welcome To Anabolic Minds! Introduction Thread!

My name is Aaron and thanks for having me here! I'm 26 years old and have been out of the gym for about 4 years. Over that time I have made some serious gains...but not the good kind lol. Look forward to learning what's new and getting back into shape!

Welcome to AM.

Hey guys, my name's Cody. I'm 23, just married the girl of my dreams and have a daughter on the way. I've been training since i was about 13 years old for baseball, played through my college career in NCAA ball. Decided to not go play farm ball last year after i graduated, but i'm sort of considering getting back at it. For right now, i'm an ACE and NASM certified personal trainer by day, and a waiter by night.

Bodybuilding has honestly saved my life, i got into painkillers and heroin pretty hard in college, for about 4 years. Ended up in rehab, with a few overdoses under my belt. Actually killed myself from and overdose in july 2014. However, in rehab, i found my love for working out as a passion in itself, outside of training for sports. I've now been sober for 28 months on the 15th.

I'm excited to learn all i can from you guys, as i've recently taken an interest in the chemistry behind the muscle. Hope i can make some good contributions!

Very cool story, Cody! Congrats on the marriage and the little one! What position(s) do you play? I was primarily a first baseman, but hung it up once I got to college so I could do radio play-by-play for our team, instead.

Primarily catcher, but i'm a lefty who can throw a mean knuckleball, so i'd hop up on the mound in certain situations. Thanks for the welcome!! I really do wanna go on and see if i can make it to the show, but i'm not sure if it worth it to be away from my family that long. I really would love to go on and get my masters (i have my bachelors in kinesiology) and finish with my PhD in sports medicine, and open up a really nice training center. Cater to any sport really. We had a place like that in my hometown, and it was one of the best tools for me when it came to athletic performance.

Best advice I can give you is to follow your heart.

I could have played in college, but I told myself that it wasn't a career thing for me, so I hung it up to pursue to radio side of it. But I constantly wondered while watching if I could have hung with the guys out there (I felt like I could, but it was also D1-AA, so good, but not top tier SEC/ACC/BIG10 talent). I ended up changing career paths to have a "normal" life and I love what I do, but I find myself in the crossroads of making a change that doubles back on what I've done for the last ~10 years.

So the moral of all that is, if you feel like you're good enough and you have a fire to play -- keep playing.

I like your ideas for down the road, man. Very cool.

Thanks man. I really do want to play, and i did play for a Big 10 school, and had scouts approach me. I 'm really just at an overall crossroads of where i want to take this. Plus by the time i would start farm ball, i'd be pretty deep into 24, which isn't the most prime of ages to start in single A. Maybe though! My wife definitely supports it! Thanks for the words of wisdom man!

Hey guys!

Great site, a friend recommended it and I had to sign up! I'm currently living in Japan and really into the ol' exercise. Hoping to get a lot of info from here!

Hi, I'm Bert, I'm 43 and an Accountant and am married with 3 sons. I've been overweight my whole life and I'm done with it. I've lost 70 lbs and want to lose about 45 more. I've lifted on and off since high school but never as consistently and intensely, as I have in the past year. I've recently hit a plateau and have switched to a ketogenic diet, as of today. The more I keep my mind trained on things related to fitness and nutrition, the better I do, so I'm always looking for new resources (such as this site).

Welcome to AM! and Congrats!! on the weight loss.

A few things to consider you may waist to address.

- stress levels as they relate to cortisol
- amount of sleep you get
- your keto now but for how long? There are some keto-fu masters here. I will divert to them.
- what weight training program are you on?
- how do your current bloods look like? Thyroid, Testosterone and Estrogen for starters.

Are you on any supplements? What are your stats? Blood Pressure ok?

A plateaux is also necessary. Give your body a rest, then get back to it. Maybe if you haven't taken a week to decondition, it would be perfect to reset, recoup, recover. No exercise, but adjust your macros accordingly for the week, then hit it again.

A few programs that may assist. HST is insane. It's a modified circuit (full body) M/W/F weekend off.
8 weeks program, 1 week decondition, then start again.

Hope this helps. If you need HST information, let me know.

Cool! You have come to one of the (if not) the best site on the web. Great people here who do not hold punches back because they care, so strap yourself in, and get ready for cool.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately, I don't sleep well. I wake usually after 4 to 5 hours of sleep (same as my dad and brother). I've seen Doctors and not even the strongest sleep Rx worked.

I'm not sure how long I will do keto, it depends on how effective and how I feel. I did low carb years ago but that was higher protein (vs higher fat).

I am on a custom program, working out 6 days per week. Mon-Legs/Shoulders, Tue-Chest/Tris, Wed-Back/Bis, Thu Cardio/Abs, Fri & Sat I mix it up, maybe arms, maybe functional strength, just depends. Plus I do at least 15 mins of cardio on lifting days (5 warm-up, 10 - 20 steady state after)

I did take a week off in December to let my body rest.

I understand about the plateau. I was 262 at the beginning of November and 261 as of two weeks ago. Part of that was due to the Holidays but I feel that I am ready to start progressing on my weight loss, again.

Welcome all!

I expect to see a new thread from each of you!

Welcome to AM, Mike!

Take a look through the Supplements sub-forum and do some keyword searches for what you're interested in. You'll find a lot of great threads in there and many of the products come from board sponsors, so you can look in those companies' sub-forums, as well, for even more information.
