Next time try replacing them with some supported Sissy Squats, you will thank me... or hate me. ;)

I had to go google what a sissy squat was! Deal I will add that in next time, looks like a blaster!
I honestly believe they are more effective than leg extensions once you have the form down. So do Jared and Mike Isreatel from what they say in there videos.

Pretty happy still sitting at 223 this morning. Been raining here since last night we have a blizzard pushing behind the rain so we will see what happens they have been calling for 7-14” of snow around us.. it’s the season!

A few things I want to note that I have changed up in the last 2 weeks.

1. winter time and I have been off fish oil so I have started that back up again.
2. I think this has helped me shed some pounds here lately. I have been eating my bigger meal during the day. Come dinner time just a very small portion of protein and a carb. Sometimes a shake before bed but not consistent. I am probably going to keep doing this going forward as it seems to be working the best for me.

If you aren't drastically lowering your calories, don't put much correlation into that. Placing the bulk of your food away from bedtime is going to make you wake up lighter than when you were eating a bigger dinner because most of what you ate will be digested by that time. Even on the exact same calories that will happen. I do think in your case since you lift earlier that eating the bulk of your calories earlier is going to be better for both performance and recovery from your sessions though. So I would keep the bulk of your calories around your training. So in your case the mornings. Andrew Huberman said if you want to gain the most hypertrophy while fasting to break your fast earlier in the morning. There are some studies that show increasing protein synthesis earlier provides more hypertrophy from the same volume of training. So if incorporating fasting although perhaps not more convenient if eating dinner with the family is important he recommended having your first meal earlier, and your last meal around 6 so the overnight fasting can do it's thing apparently there are also some benefits that get missed out on if you have not entered a fasting state or close to it by the time you go to bed, and the longer you can be in a fasted state while sleeping the better for that particular benefits. I just don't remember exactly what those were but he has the science laid out on his fasting for hypertrophy video.

Tried something different this time prime rib on smoker at 200 degrees until internal temp hit about 112. Then pulled and heated the blackstone up and 2 minutes per side giving a nice crust all round. Internal temp was about 128-130 after that then wrapped in tin foil and sit in the oven until everything else was ready.

Looks like that plan worked out well for you!!!

I agree fully with you. Also makes me feel just better getting in meals earlier while everything is in a better state so to speak. Also seems like meals are better utilized, in return seems like better digestion.

Also on another side note when I finish up this meso cycle. I’m really looking and researching Alex Bromley Kong program. It’s a 12 week program broke into 3- 4 week blocks. Can’t remember @Hyde did you run this program?

here is the description and 3 blocks

KONG is a 12-week program to build savage size, designed with 3 blocks of 4 week chunks. The three 4-week blocks are separated by exercise selection, exercise order, and set and rep progression.

Week 1-4: Volumizing

5-day bodybuilding split that hits each body part twice a week. You'll be hitting weak points first, like triceps before delts and chest.

This is a volumizing phase, which starts off with just a few sets per exercise with high reps in week 1, but steadily increasing load over the next 3 weeks. By the end of week 4, you'll be conditioned for high volume training.

Week 5-8: Pyramids

Now you'll reap the benefits of the high volume work from the previous block by focusing on compound lifts first before accessories.

The compounds will be underload variations (like close grip bench and stiff leg deadlifts), which forces you to use less weight than the competition variation. The disadvantaged positions force you to train weaknesses in your compounds.

The set and rep scheme is in a pyramid, which also forces you to use less weight by prioritizing volume and endurance work. This is a nasty muscle building combination.

Week 9-12: Reverse Pyramid

Now that you're primed from the underload variations, in this block you'll move to overload variations, which prioritizes weight.

In this phase you'll be doing the reverse pyramid set and rep scheme, which means prioritizing heavy weights for your first set, then lower load with high reps in later sets.

By the end of this program, you'll look like you can scale the Empire State Building.”

I ran it for ~5 weeks as I recall & definitely enjoyed it - you could do a lot worse if you want a hypertrophy program. I tweaked some things to my preference but that was more so to adjust for my personal needs, injury limitations, equipment availability - it does not need any tailoring.

I believe I was cruising on like 150 test/wk plus a bottle of Anabolic Effect, and I swear I added a bit of popcorn muscle. This is relevant because someone coming off a lot of drugs & food generally won’t do that, but the training was such an increase in quality volume work from the powerlifting peaking that I still brought up areas that had been neglected. And I did train it hard & seriously the entire time on it.

Woke up planning to hit the gym with my extra day off. Changed plans because this crud I have been fighting has just got me plugged up. Feel great and all but in the morning it’s not pretty, seems to clear once I am up and moving and get it cleared.

oh well it’s a sheet of ice outside with snow over top.

So in other news…… some of you guys that have been around my log for a while know that we had are first kiddo last spring, are little daughter is almost 10 months old now. Previous to her me and my wife battled infertility for 2 years prior. Seeing this specialist and that one etc etc. honestly we were to the point that it just wasn’t going to happen.

So fast forward and we have been a lot of nervous if we were going to have the same struggles for another little one or not. The doctor had said the chances will be better early on for various reasons.

With all that being said we are going to be expecting another little miracle here come summer time (Julyish time frame)

To say how excited we are is a very drastic understatement. From going to basically accepting the fact we would have no children to being blessed to have another one, it has me lost for words honestly.

well anyways I just wanted to announce this on here and share my excitement!

Congrats on the the awesome news Brother!

Second, make sure you eat enough to grow on this program since hypertrophy is the focus. You might want to push down a little further, maybe one more meso to give yourself a little more room to grow since already doing well in this weight loss phase. Of course that is a personal choice. Just a suggestion since you already have momentum built up there.

yes that was another thing I was wondering about. Trying to run that program on a deficit would probably A. Not be sustainable and B. Not be sustainable 😂

Agree I have started dropping and have good momentum going and making progress, I should probably run that out for the duration then switch goals.

Yeah, I would give the program the food it needs to give the growth that is intended. You will get there faster and with a better end product periodizing your goals and efforts than trying to do it all at once and not doing either goal optimally.

Very valid point. Focus on the goal at hand.. drop the fat. Then I can re focus on what to achieve.

I’m very to hear the good news for you, and wish you guys a healthy pregnancy and birth in the future! You never know what’s in store, so just take each day as it comes.

Thanks brother!!

Yes, definitely do not do Kong while eating in a deficit. You will undermine the results, promote injury, and drag yourself down. Your body is going to need extra energy to build new tissue, not robbing Peter to pay Paul.

Congratulations! Having two definitely is a bit of a game changer, but wouldn't trade it for the world!
Thanks man! Definitely on the hunt for a bigger place to rent. The good thing is rent prices are really dropping as the market is stale. Hoping to find a bigger place and some yard space 🤞🏼

Yep and the inevitable housing market crash you will be able to make out like a champ within a year or two on buying a home!

Damn man your weight loss this past year is impressive! You started around 270 yeah?
Yep was 270 around Christmas last year. Going to keep on it shooting for 200 but like Hyde and Kleen have mentioned go for 190 and give a little float for the return of glycogen/water etc.

That what I’m planning for at the moment, catch us I want to be out in the country and in a different county. So worst case I’m hoping I can find 3-8 acres and then I can build ideally what I want.

Definitely odd right know, a typical 3 bed 2 bath house and nothing great needs work things outdated etc and no room really are 290,000-300k all day long.
You can rent a 3 bed 2 batch 2 car attached garage townhome 1-2 years old so good condition, downside no back yard to speak of really. The upside snow/grass/trash maintenance on the place at no cost. Right now you can find them 1,200-1,600 lots of vacancies, depending on location to downtown is the cost varies.

Sounds like renting is the way to go, and in the current economy, I wouldn't buy any house that was not an absolute steal. Believ it or not if you look around you can find houses like you mentioned on some land for rent too. Some people have land they don't want to let go of yet but want their mortgages paid in the meantime. You look hard enough you can probably find that. My brother in law has had some good luck finding places like this when he moves states. He refuses to live in the city and drives an hour + each way all the time just to live where he wants to live. I think the last place he ended up buying from the owner and got a pretty decent deal since he rented for 2 years the guy applied a good chunk of that towards his down payment for the purchase.

was a little sore from yesterday but in a good way. Weight up but I also smashed carbs yesterday. I haven’t had much for carbs so yesterday at lunch had rice then dinner had homemade Mac and cheese. Definitely felt the carbs today seemed to be a lot more pumped and full!!
Still got a lot of weight to drop, I have made good progress for 2023. This weekend I will get up a 2022 pic and then a recent one. I am highly embarrassed by the 22 picture but shows how far I have come.

I'm actually really interested to see how this goes for you. You might've seen that my current deadlift program is one by Bromley. I'm actually sort of in the market for a new program, which could be a 5-day per week type one. This one does sound pretty brutal though, so keep that in mind as others have mentioned.

Yeah after thinking about it more and Hyde and Kleen suggestions, I’m going to save this for when I finish losing weight and not in a calorie deficit.

If you have boost camp app there are quite a few Bromley programs on there. Some you have to pay extra for though.

You really want commercial gym access for the leg day at least for Kong. It was designed with the average gym goer in mind as far as equipment access.

Got on the treadmill this evening 30 minutes 3.5 mph 4% incline 1.6 miles.

body has felt pretty tight/full/ pumped today wish that would be every day 😂

Was planning to hit an afternoon session…. Plans changed.
Needed to change the oil in my diesel truck no biggie. Went and picked up oil and filter noticed one of the tail lights was out, so picked up a pack of bulbs. So changed the oil, changed the bulb in doing noticed nothing wrong with the bulb. Tried it just to see if it was, nothing. So got the tester out no power. Fuses all good checked tail light wire coming out of fuse box, power. Traced wires under the frame about under rear door, power. Check harness at rear bumper, no power. So not wanting to pull the whole wire harness apart to find whatever is not making a connection.
I spliced into the working tail light and ran a new wire back into harness at the Y I cut the taillight wire with no power and jumped in my new wire. Do I like my solution, NO! It works, I just don’t like doing that but I have no easy way of inspecting the whole harness. So do what you can do.
Guessing down the road when I hook a trailer up I’m going to have no taillight on the one side, I will have to jump to the trailer plug as well down the road.

so just took the day as a repair day and since I had not ate just going to fast until dinner.

What ya drivin for a diesel? I have a 01 f350 single cab 7.3 powerchoke w 6spd manual. I have a Co truck for work so I holds the driveway down nicely during the work week. I should just sell it and buy various sources of protein or add stuff to my garage gym.

Oh I have a 2012 Ram 2500 6.7 Cummins, automatic. It’s actually the wife’s truck 😂 she stole it from me. It was my fifth wheel puller for my years on the road. Hit a bump a long time ago and a bunch of stuff fell off it, so it’s loud 🤣.

We have been wanting to get a newer SUV but just haven’t, both of are trucks are paid off and it’s nice not having a vehicle payment. My other truck is a 2004 GMC 1500 with 105,000 I had a work truck for so long this sat at my parents farm. I bought it way back it 2007, it’s been a good truck.

I LOVE the sound of a Cummins. I mean why power stroke when I could already be CUMMINS???
Dealership near me has a 2500 mega cab w the 6.7 for sale. Black w maroon leather. It’s tempting and I’d feel BOSS as Eff driving until I have to make that first payment. Love diesel power though!

I had a 1500 GMC heavy half w the 6.5 diesel. Body fell apart around the motor. Great truck. Then I got a 2 door Tahoe I miss that truck. 5.7 vortec moved nice.

Dealership near me has a 2500 mega cab w the 6.7 for sale. Black w maroon leather. It’s tempting and I’d feel BOSS as Eff driving until I have to make that first payment. Love diesel power though!

Yeah if I get another truck I would go for the mega cab. I wish I would’ve on the one I have. I really miss my 2001 1 ton dually that was a great truck 6 speed manual I had 400,000 when I sold it. Then I got my favorite truck my 2005 2500 had the same 5.9 but automatic. That truck I should have never got rid of. It got 18mpg no matter what, open road long cruise 22-24 mpg. They had a bad rap because so many people tuned them because they were easy to crank out monster power and the transmissions couldn’t take it. My 12 runs really good and has great power but even deleted best it gets is 17 on highway, 9-10 around town.
