Its been about 10 years since I had my last motorcycle, and am very happy to have another one. Picked up a Suzuki TL1000R last week and I freaking love it. Wanted to see who else on here rides and what they have.

Me! 2008 Kawasaki 1600 Vulcan Mean Streak SE 3rd riding season and coming up on 22K miles. Love her to death!

very cool. My last one was a Honda CBR 600 F3, and then before that was a Kawasaki Vulcan. So this is my first liter bike, but I'm loving it so far.

I used to have one of these

with a full faring + fiberglass luggage boxes, but in 1994 the rear axle bearing went flaky at 70mph and I flipped and rolled. Keep thinking about getting another though. What I really want is

the ducati diavel, but pretty pricey

E, I spoke to a Duc enthusiast at a run about 2 months ago. He had a 30 yr old bike that looked like it was brand-spankin new, with so many serious mods on it that looked stock that it was retarded. His opinion of the diavel and a few of the newer "entry-level" Duc's was that they were pretty much junk - made for the masses and not what Ducatti stands for. It may be a good bike, but by Duc standards, it's like Porsche putting out a 4-door family car. Oh wait... they did that.... :(

The TL is a nice bike bro! Congrats!!

hmm maybe back to the vrod idea then

If you're gonna go with a V-something, go with the V-Rex:Invalid Link Removed

^^It's the front swingarm.

For "V" bikes, go for a V-max. VERY fast bike.

Yeah, this from the president of a chapter of the Vulcan Riders Association (Kawasaki). lol

hell ya! Yamaha VMAX is a beast *** bike

You want a faster hotter similar styled bike at half the price. Check out Invalid Link Removed and go to the "mutant" section and look at the mono shock buells. Similar style, all American and balls from hell when tuned.

Here... Just to show you one...

Yea man, I'm about to start my first bike build soon. I have no real exp and it won't be my dream bike but its a first step to building my dream bike. I know it sounds odd for someone with no bike building exp to say they have 4 bikes planned out... I have all four in my head. I have a good friend that's a mechanic and I'm starting with a mutant because after talking to the guys there they claim several customers with zero mechanical exp have been able to do the conversions. They seem to be basically switching parts from the donor to the kit... No fabrication needed. The first one is gonna be their ''bob this'' kit and I'm just using a sporty 1200 as a donor. As I said this will be a learning experience and with a mechanics help it should be pretty do able. I'm not a horse power freak so the 1200 will be fine for this one.
Did you do the build yourself? If so is it fair to say that a reasonably intelligent person with a mechanics assistance when its needed can do the conversion If almost all stock parts are used for the basic build? I really want to do as much as humanly possible on this myself.

Thanks for any help bro.

I didnt build mine, mine is all custom work, one off tank, fenders, bars, etc..

BUT I think one of the mutant bikes is a CAN DO at home as long as you have a mechanic to run things by when needed. There is no fab needed for the bob this or mutant buells (you CAN just dont have to). Good luck with the build, I plan on putting together a Mutant Buell myself at some point.
