wal-mart supps?

so i needed some milk thistle and i decided to check at wal-mart, since its the new trend for everyone to take everything herbal under the sun. They actually have a big assortment of the kinds of stuff everyone talks about on here:wtf: . This includes milk thistle, dhea, saw palmetto, and i'm sure a lot of other stuff. So i was wondering, are these wal-mart supps any good? The milk thistle i got was 5 bucks and its 90 pills and says its equivalent to 1000mg per pill. thanks for the advice in advance. adhttp://anabolicminds.com/forum/images/smilies/wtf.gif
 
I'm sure they are decent supplements, for the basics multi, green tea, etc they should be fine. But why would you shop at the evil walmart when you could support a board sponser.:study:
 
cuz my gf gets mad when i order supps online and that package comes to my door...she says its a waste of money...but she likes my six pack, i can't win:confused:

I've ran out of stuff before and bought from WalMart. I just check to make sure it's standardized.

Edit: Should have been more specfic. Make sure you know how much of the active ingredient you and try to match that. Some companies mega dose and you over pay and others underdose making what looks like a great deal when you will really just need to take that many more pills.

As a board sponser I say keep the paeace have it shipped to your Mom's house! But for real, truthfully most of those supps are made from Vitamin World extracts, and relabeled, and sold for a great price. But still buy from board sponsers, they make the board go round!
 
I frequently have products shipped to my office, but for different reasons (normally it is because I've ordered stereo gear and I do not want it left on the porch).

Big bump to this. READ the labels. Know what doses you want and if its an herbal you need to know what it is standardized for. I buy a few things from walmart, but not much. I was looking to get a bottle of curcumin (tumeric extract standardized for 95% curcuminoids). The rexall brand has a big 95% curcuminoids sign on the label. If you look at the ingredients, the 500 mg of of 95 % is really 450 mg of plain turmeric root, with an added 50mg of the 95% extract. The bottle contains a tenth of what they make it look like. Some items may have the mg doses you are use to seeing, but the extracts may be much weaker.


of course, all of this applies to anything you buy anywhere. I ordered what looked like the best deal for curcumin w/ bioperine out there... of course the 1100mg or so caps are actually half that and the serving size is 2 caps. The online descriptions and bottle image lead one to think you are getting twice as much than you are. At least the stuff was still the best deal around even after that.

ok well on the milk thistle i bought it says it contains 250 mg milk thistle (silybum marianum) (seed) (from 4:1 extract) (equivalent to 1,000mg of milk thistle) can someone translate that to terms that would apply to body building purposes please?
 
Meaning that your going to get 250mg of your 1,000 (pure extract) @ that dosage. Compare it to cycle support where your going to get the 1,000mg in a shabang

...I but from Wally World when im in need...it's not so bad when you break it down,

If your GF is clueless about what the supps do, just tell her that they ALL play a role in maintaining your physique that she likes so much!

Thanks for explaining that. I was still trying to figure out how Walmart squeezed 1000mgs in one capsule :)

Honestly though if you can find sups at local places AND(that is a BIG and) they are of the same quality and price I say go for it. I never was able to but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

I only buy my Fish/Flax Oil caps from Walmart, pretty good price and they are big buckets so they are normally pricey to ship. Most of the stuff you can find NOW brand as cheap or cheaper from board sponsers.
