Virile Mane - Hair anyone?

I just a quick question about Java Lustre shampoo. Should I be leaving it in for 30-45 seconds, or just lathering it up and immediately rinsing it out?

d3 is what you want, by far.

Max - you should leave it on for around 30-45 seconds, then rinse.

I have only been on propecia for one week, and I have seen a big improvement. I think the combination of propecia and VM is working great. I think my DHT issues were just to great for the VM to work for me. My shedding has completely stoped, and I think I'm getting some new growth already. So far, I have no sexual side effects so far. Not that I really care if i do, my hair is more important to me anyway.

Just to warn you, I shed like a bitch after 1 month on propecia for a whole month.... my hair had got quite a lot worse by month 2. It then started to come back thicker and after 3 months on the stuff it was at least as good as when I started and continued to slowly improve.

Just wanted to give you a heads up that it may not be plain sailing, especially for the first few months.

For what it's worth, I think some form of DHT inhibition would definitely work hand in hand with something like Virile mane - just like how minox + propecia is better than either alone.

Dsade - cheers, I'll pick up some D3 as soon as i can! Out of interest has the VM been reformulated at all since the first? My new stuff seems darker and less... errr... greasy i suppose is the word... than previously.

I had a little look at my hair today, the back is pretty similar still but the front back towards the vertex really seems to be quite thick now (I have diffuse thinning) - definately compared to when I started all these treatments over a year ago, but i think thicker than before i started VM too. Nothing has really worked in the back for me as regards regrowth, but i think that's probably because that is the area which has been going the longest so the results are naturally going to be slower.

I've still had a couple of random little dark hairs pop up well forward of the hairline, and am going to try applying vm to the temples twice a day to see if i can't bring them back to poifection... still going to be using once per day all over the top/back because it's just impractical to use it in the morning for me.

Should be able to put up month 0,2,4 pics around the 12th March.

D3 is tricky... you have to use the correct analog, in the correct concentration, to induce hair growth. I looked into it a while back and ended up scratching it because it was so complicated.

Who knows... maybe your oral dosing of it is delivering the correct amount of analog... I'm anxious to see how it works for you guys.

Wonder what are the effects of cutting dosage will be.
I was using it 7 days a week 2x a day. But wonder what if i will suffer negative effects to cutting 1x a day. Or 1x a day 5x a week

I am facing the same, with at least 6 pimples on my scalp and no progress so far. I have confirmed pimples are coming from VM, I stopped it for a week and they went away, once I am back they are and in different areas :(

Hi Dsade,
I received a new shipment of VM while I still have the older bottle. One interesting note is that I found a difference in color and consistency of the product, have there been a new version (AKA the new label versus the old red one). Another note, is on my pimples experience, do you think this is an allergy the prompts stopping use of the product (BTW, I have used multiple products of the years and my scalp isn't of sensitive type, so this is a new experience). I am getting more worried on this increase/sprout in pimples and honestly my hair is getting thinner, I might discontinue VM after 2-2.5 months of use..

The only change was a new emulsifier that allowed for a more complete blend.

There have been very, very few reports of any kind of irritation or breakouts - considering the number of bottles currently being used. Can I ask what kind of shampoo you are using, and if it's of the "laureth or lauryl sulfate" variety?

I am using Revita only at the moment with a plan to add Java luster

Leaving the Revita on for too long and using it everyday or nearly everyday can give you scalp pimples actually.

I got this a few times, when I left it on for to long in the past. My scalp felt "burnt", I believe it's the ketoconazole that does this. It's been referred to as a "keto burn".

Try leaving it on for less time if this is a problem for you too.

Haven't used Revita for some time, but decided today to use it two times a week to use up an old bottle, and then use Java Lustre on the other days. Think this will work out good, as I'm sure that ketoconazole is a worthwhile addition to any hair regrowth project, just don't overdo it!

if you were only using it twice a week i'd go for normal 2% nizoral - Revita only has 1% if memory serves me correctly.

With revita they claim you should use once a day at least 5x per week for optimal results

My 5 month update.

Initially I thought I was getting new growth in my hairline, unfortunately that was not the case. I have been documenting my progress or lack of with photos, so I could be objective.

After 5 months of daily applications, my hairloss has continued. My hairline has continued to recede.

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this product based on my experience. Apparently, others on numerous hair loss forums that have tried it, feel the same.

Thumbs down:rocketwhore:

I would love to see your documented log and/or photos to back up you conclusion. I know a lot of people who like this product I would just be very interested in seeing factual evidence if possible. Thanks

I have to disagree here. I've been using it for the past 5 months, and I am definitely not losing ground, and am seeing some nice new growth both at the hair line and throughout the front and top of my head. The one place I'm not seeing great results is the bald spot on my crown, although that is really hard for me to determine as I can't see it without a mirror. I think the spot may be shrinking though. Not so much filling in at the center, but from the edges inward. That area has been losing hair for the longest, so I expect it to take much longer for VM to work there.

The new growth I do have is a mix of hairs of normal size and thickness along with lighter thinner hairs. My point is that they are new hairs, without VM there would be no new hairs, and fewer than I had 5 months ago.

Care to share photos of your improvement?

Can you share as well since we know you took photos?

I will try to upload photos soon aswell. I've posted progress photo's before, i'm on VM atleast 4 months. My hair is way thicker and still getting new hairs every week, progress is slow because it goes in a rate of like 10 new hairs in front of existing hairline a week but me receeding hairline is now regrowing in stead of receeding, so I'm happy.. Only applying 5 nights a week now.

I only have pics of right before I started, and have taken no more. I will try and get new ones and put them up soon.

ETA: I looked back at the before pics, and I wish I had taken more angles. I will try and get some that show the improvement though.

Update....
so far the majority of the pimples subsided after stopping revita ( or actually I just decreased it to once a week) thanks to you Laozi. I will give it one more week to judge but it seems VM isn't the culprit and daily Revita is. That being said, I have not had any positive feedback to report after three months of VM, but slight worsening as I can see a bit more scalp now. I will stay on VM for now, and give it 2-3 more month since I already have the bottles and by then I will conclude whether to continue or stop completely.

I'm glad to hear sktec, I was quite sure it was Revita (and ketoconazole) that was the culprit. When it becomes this extreme (seeing pimples) I think it can also cause some shedding, so you might see more success in the months to come now! :)

Good call on once a week, I've started using Revita once or twice a week now too. Also "listen" to what you scalp tells you, I've found that sometimes leaving it on for five minutes is too much, when it start to almost itch it's usually been on there for too long.

Cheers!

I cannot stress this enough...excellent point. Irritation will tell you when something is NOT right, and can lead to massive inflammation.

Hello,I have received Virile mane, is it like a shampoo,do you aplly it on wet hair?
Do you have to do a massage to the hairs or just apply it?

The directions are on the bottle, as well as a nifty "picture guide" that I posted earlier in the thread.

Best way to apply is right after a shower, when the scalp is clean. Use the dispenser tip to part the hair. Apply the VM along the exposed portion of scalp with the dispenser, then rub in with your finger. Repeat this process until the entire area that you want to thicken back up/fill back in is covered.

Also, make sure you are rubbing the product in for at least 10 seconds per spot for maximum absorption.

hey Dsade any updates on your progress? new growth, thicker etc?

I'm sort of on a heavy Test/Tren cycle right now. I'm afraid it's just not strong enough to keep away some shedding.

Let me find my memory stick and I'll pop another few updated shots up for you guys. It's not really that bad, but any kind of backslide puts me into a panic.

Lighting is bright..so I'll take some more at around the same time as the previous pics.

For now, you can definitely see some thinning as a result of my current cycle, but not as bad as I thought.

Has anyone had hair regrowth from HGH family of agents (HGH, IGF-1, CJC-1295, GHRP) ?

Virile Mane acts via mostly through local IGF-1 release, systemic IGF-1 increase should be a fine addition ? I'm losing ground on Virile Mane alone.

It works mostly through localized igf-1 release, not systemis, but yeah those additions should be beneficial.

Hey Dsade,

I read this on another site...I was wondering what your thoughts are

hairlosshelp.com/forums/messageview.cfm?catid=10&threadid=83564&enterthread=y

I can't post the exact link...but it's found under hair loss open topic and the subject is : Virile Mane, Capsaicin users beware.

Thanks!

WOW this thread really died

A lot of hype, a lot of support from inexperienced Hairloss sufferers that are not smart when it comes to hair loss.

A for effort DSADE. I hope you sold enough bottles of this salad dressing to make your quick profit and bounce.

Overall I lost ground on this stuff and I am certain my condition worsened after starting it. I stopped treatment and watched my hair get back to it's healthier state.

BTW if anyone wnats to buy an unused bottle of this stuff I will sell it to you for dirt cheap. . .

Sorry your life sux, dude - too bad.

Personally, I'm extremely pleased w/ my results, which continue to improve.

I'm sure taking cheap shots at dsade and his products & business makes your hair feel better, so maybe some neg-reps for being a douche will make you look better, too.

Have fun, good luck - and GTFO!

I can't fault people for being upset. Personally, i think dsade overhyped the product. I'm sure his orders/sales were a reflection of the hype.

Dsade has to take the good with the bad.

The science and my results were posted. Are those results guaranteed the same for everyone? No.

Is it fair, or douchy, to accuse people of something because their results do not match others? Since nobody knows how strict his regimen was, other habits that might damage hair, etc in this case it comes across as extremely douchy.

To claim that magically after ceasing VM (how long did he use VM?) his hair "returned to normal" is just ridiculous - and to assault my character...well, that's just douchy.

Most customers, even loyal customers from the rest of my product line, are skeptically awaiting longer-term feedback - and I have no problem with that. Anyone that knows me - to accuse me of being willing to destroy my reputation to sell a few hundred bottles is just plain ignorant.

Most of the feedback is get is still from those that do not choose, for personal reasons, to post public feedback.

do you have any thoughts on using the dermaroller in conjunction w/ VM?

We discussed it earlier in the thread. other than the "ouch" factor, it should increase absorption.

/spikes and scalp...ow

I use this every night, only once a day after a shower. Does it work??? No one has said to me that I look like I'm going bald like they did last year, after I loose the hat for spring. Not sure either way, but I'm going to continue this for awhile. Just now getting to the bottom of the first bottle, 1 more to go. I really want to see how this stuff works during the summer. ( if it does?)
One thing I can say is ...I do think it is ridding me of grey hair. Started to notice where I applied it my hair was less grey, so I started applying along the sides recently and seems to be working :dunno: Time will tell.
I do take vitamins, no steriods or pro hormone, but I do drink like a fish, which I hear is not good for hair, but...
