Venture Bars Taste Tester Promo

the bad thing about this - it was over just as fast as it began-

those poor little bars didnt stand a chance in my house

Thanks Hyde

I'm still this from VaughnTrue on a different forum, but I completely agree. The CPBF is just like this, but without all the crunch

I got some of the snack size bars due to my kids goody-bags from his birthday party having a mix of hersheys in them. As soon as I took a bite I was like "oh! That's what those bars remind me of!"

The CPB was my least favorite of the 3, but it was still very good.

AntM1564 Now that is a review !!! Well done my man !!

Just got my other 2 flavors in last night.

I'll be testing them out over the weekend (trying to keep the diet dialed in the next day or so after a couple days of higher cals lol). So I'll be putting up a full review once I've tried all 3. But I enjoy the chocolate pb (and would agree with AntM that some more peanuts in there would be awesome because those are the best bites for sure).

Wow, that's saying something because I was very pleased with the CPBF. Can't wait to open my CCCD now.

Also, I failed to mention in my review the weight of this particular bar was spot on and all of the other ones I measured were within +/- 2 grams of prescribed weight.

Still waiting to get my bars (they're at the post office now so tomorrow) but I did get the single sample. I was glad it was a diff flavor (cpbf vs the cookie dough I should be getting from here).

I'm very sorry to say, but I thought it was terrible. Not counting the oily texture (which really I don't care about), the flavor was peanuts and plastic... There was no semblance of "fudge" and the chocolate tastes so fake I thought I was eating brown plastic. Add to that the fact that these are 30-50+ cals more than a comparable quest bar and I am utterly stunned at the overall product. The only positive (and a slight one at that) for me was the texture of the bar as it was an ok level of softness. I would prefer something a tad chewier though as I want to actually feel like I've eaten something. Otherwise I would just have a shake and save the cals for better food. The last odd thing was the fact that the bar got all stuck to my teeth... Extremely annoying

Really hoping the cookie dough is completely different because this was one of the biggest let downs I've ever experienced. :(

^ sorry to hear that, but thanks for the honest feedback Boon! Let us know when you try CCCD if that does it any better for you!

Just picked up my box (and thank you guys at Cl for sending a WHOLE box! I thought we were just getting a few but that was a nice surprise. I'll have to share a few). I'll try one tonight and try to get a review up before I start moving in to my new house tomorrow/Sunday.

High hopes for my favorite flavor of just about anything ha.

Just tried the cccd bar:

This was MUCH better than the cpbf I had last night. It's not nearly as sweet as most other cccd flavored bars I've had which was a minus for me. Also the consistency (as expected) was the same and still sticks to your teeth. On the plus side, this didn't taste like plastic but rather a light, semi sweet choc chip cookie. There were quite a few chips in the one o had which added a nice texture even though the chips themselves had almost zero flavor. Definitely unsweetened ones at that.

Comparing these to my favorite of the quest flavors, I still give a heavy handed edge to quest. They have better macros (30 cals less, 1g more protein) as well as a much sweeter flavor and more chunks/chips per bar.

Unfortunately, I will not be buying these as they were overall underwhelming from a variety of aspects. While the box I have I will eat, they won't be getting thrown down nightly as I just can't see myself craving this flavor.

Overall, an ok flavor, ok profile, and just generally average at best.

Thanks to the guys at controlled labs for the chance to try these out though. I'll be sure to share some of the box with others in hopes that they might enjoy them more than I do.

Sorry they're not for you, but thanks for the honesty! Maybe one of your friends or fam will like them more

I would like them :)

Just sayin'

Try some things with the rest maybe, microwave them.

They are so soft you can flatten them in your fingers and then roll out into rolls, if you want to get crazy, and load it with pb ;)

That sounds macro-friendly...for ultra low carb only lol

Definitely gonna get creative with them. I think they would make great ice cream mix ins as they aren't gonna be rocks

I had my first Venture Bar today, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, I would say is was a 8 out of 10, The taste was good but I would have liked a little more Cookie dough flavor. I like the 20 grams of fiber and the 20 grams of Protein. Would I buy these again YES.

Glad to hear you enjoyed them! Thanks for the suggestions too - always makes it easier to improve when we can hear what you guys do and don't like about products

I can't wait to try the Coconut!!

So I wanted to come back and add to my previous review on the cccd a bit since I've eaten quite a few over the last couple days (moving into a new house so eating hasn't exactly been on the schedule ha)... I have to say that the flavor is growing on me. I still think it's a step below quest cccd, but I definitely don't dislike them and am actually enjoying them. I accidentally tried something out where I microwaved one for over a minute... Flattened it out into almost a cookie... Then let it harden up... It got crispy almost like an actually choc chip cookie... Kinda fun ha.

Overall, I'm enjoying these the more that I eat. Frankly above all else I'm thankful that I got to try a whole box because I've had nothing else to eat for two days!

I can honestly say the further I work through this box the more I've been enjoying them, so I can appreciate that.

I posted my review up last night. Sorry for the delay. I was doing a absolute zero carb diet for the last month. I had the bars on vacation. Love them.

Profile

The profile is very similar to the leading protein bars out there currently. The bar is 69 grams, a little larger than a Quest or Mission 1 Bar. The bar contains 220 cals 9g of fat, 30g of carbs, 20g of fiber and 20g of protein. Depending on the flavor, macros will be a little different, but they are in the same ballpark.

Price

Venture Bars are priced around $22-$28 a box, which is the same price as Quest and Mission 1 Bars.

Texture/consistency

The bar is softer than a Quest Bar and a touch softer than the Mission 1 bars. With those two bars, if I have one straight out of the wrapper, I need to keep it in my pocket to make it softer. That is not needed with the Venture Bar. However, it does take on a laffy taffy texture in terms of chewiness. For the sake of this review, I did not warm it up or keep it in my pocket prior to eating it. I think if I had it in my pocket, it would not have been as chewy. The texture is also pretty much the same. It is that smooth bar with some mix ins, in this case peanuts. I do like the addition of peanuts because one, I like the flavor and two, it gives the bar some texture and breaks up the monotonous smooth texture. However, I wish there were more peanuts in the bar.

Taste

This was the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough flavor. I was pretty disappointed with it. Despite having a decent amount of chocolate chips, it did not really have a chocolate chip taste. It pretty much tasted like plain cookie dough. It was not bad, but a little too plain and didn't have the advertised taste.

Overall

My rating is taking into consideration the bar and the flavor. I would not suggest this particular flavor. I would say this is below the Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge flavor. Nothing about this stood out, it was very plain. The chocolate chips need more of a flavor to them, the bar was overall lacking in that department.7/10

Thanks for the review, Ant. Each CCCD I've opened has had plenty of choc chips.

key word "HAD"

sadly,

each one met its demise

Had a choc pb and coco almond tonight to hit my macros. I think I just have to be in the mood for them because I enjoyed them more tonight than the last time I had them.
