In support of Patrick's product; I would like to show what part of the ursolic acid research I like. I would hope for some contributing chatter thereafter.

First, we'll look at some PPAR work (for which I have been meaning to do a separate thread for; time is always an issue unfortunately)...

Abstract
In this study, we confirmed that ursolic acid, a plant triterpenoid, activates peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR)-α in vitro. Surface plasmon resonance and time-resolved fluorescence resonance energy transfer analyses do not show direct binding of ursolic acid to the ligand-binding domain of PPAR-α; however, ursolic acid enhances the binding of PPAR-α to the peroxisome proliferator response element in PPAR-α-responsive genes, alters the expression of key genes in lipid metabolism, significantly reducing intracellular triglyceride and cholesterol concentrations in hepatocytes. Thus, ursolic acid is a PPAR-α agonist that regulates the expression of lipid metabolism genes, but it is not a direct ligand of PPAR-α.

PPAR-alpha activation increases the expression of lipoprotein lipase and apolipoprotein A-V (apoA-V) while simultaneously decreasing expression of apoC-III in the liver, which decreases VLDL particles and lowering plasma triglycerides in chylomicrons. These changes liberate fatty acids, allowing them to either be oxidized or stored. This suggests that use of a PPAR-alpha agonist may be beneficial in aiding fat loss. In addition to the change in plasma fatty acid levels, hepatic apoA-I andapoA-II are increased by PPAR-alpha activation, which improves cholesterol levels by increasing HDL levels.


Now, many may not be familiar with the benefits of elevated HDL cholesterol - however, in my world, HDL trumps all other cholesterol numbers. In cycling bodybuilders...it is the first number to "go bad (lowers)." There are many that harbor an isolated low HDL syndrome and understand that while decreasing LDL holds superiority in clinical trials because we have many drugs that could lower it, the impact in my estimation is simply the anti-inflammatory nature of statins providing the benefit as opposed to true lowering of LDL - and lowering LDL actually constitutes a MINORITY of coronary heart disease in the full spectrum.


I think in the world of bodybuilding ursolic acid may provide an additional agent of natural HDL increments; alongside niacin. Coupling the two together are probably a good ancillary protocol for anabolic-androgenic-induced dyslipidemia (AAID); although currently I use HMB + Pantothene + Niacin for reasons that are well beyond the scope of this post.

Observations:
Ursobolic seems to be keeping down the bloat. I have been eating too many sugary carbs haven't eaten this badly i.e nutrition wise in a long time. My stomach is starting to hurt from all the junk and tomorrow is another day. Its all I can do to keep mu eyes open as I type this more tomorrow.
 
Looking forward to hearing some more in depth analysis when ur not closing ur eyes lol. Ordering next two months of supps soon as mentioned before n really on the fence about the urso, not only cuz of $ but bc of effects or lack there of.. Seriously feeling softer, like lacking definition, getting weaker.. Possibly due to over training.. But I can't pinpoint it bc overall leaning Is noticeable, but overall muscle size is down.. Quite the dilemma

Truth - food looking good, hope you're enjoying time with the daughter. I just got back from two weeks in Europe with my brother so I know how fun/ important family time is.

One or two things, first of all, not sure how you manage to take a tablespoon of EVOO straight... Went to take my Ursobolic the other day and didn't have any fats nearby so I thought "Well Truth uses olive oil... why not." Horrible idea. The aftertaste is one of the worst I can recall experiencing in recent memory. The next day I even dumped a tablespoon into a glass of water which killed the immediate taste but still left the horrible aftertaste... no more for me sir.

Second, I think I saw you mention using Alpha Lipoic Acid on PHF, what are your thoughts on this? About two years ago I was using ALA daily but stopped when I tried out a natty test booster and just never got back into it. I found one of my old bottles but the pills have taken an odd yellowish-hue so I'm thinking they're expired... might be worth getting another few bottles of, especially if it is synergistic with anything I am taking right now.

I think I have finally pushed past ursobolics abilities to keep me lean. My abs are slightly blurring out. But then I am eating what normally would totally erase any definition in my abs, I still have them they are just not as sharp. I am getting sick of food, it will be easy to get back on track when my week of decadence is over...well once the cheesecake is gone any way I love cheescake, especially dense creamy home made cheesecake. iWould also like to point out I haven't worked out since sunday so all these calories are not being used at all I am just sitting on my ass and still I am holding onto my muscle and for the most part my lean midsection. I am still impressed with this product

You don't like olive oil, granted I but the expensive imported Greek olive oil but I love the flavor, I take it by the tablespoon for health reasons and I go through three liters a month in my cooking. Try coconut oil or just add a generous amount of half and half to your coffee.

I still use ala for its anti oxidant properties. I also take it after my protein and carb post work out shake as it is supposed to assist in processing glucose hope that helps

Normal cheats I would but this cheat is a no work out cheat, this stuff is not going to have a chance to turn into muscle all it can become is fat

Maybe if u had some anabolic pump or a repartitioner it Would help shuttle nutrients to muscles

that Idea's been tossed around, those things are a logistical nightmare, I've purchased several such products in the past.... there are always a few broken ones that foul up everything. I am almost conviced its my extreme coffee half and half addiction that gives me the best delivery. There is chemistry behind it, hot dissolves better than cold and this stuff is fat soluble, so I'm hitting it with warm fat all day long its the best possible scenario

Cheese grits are proof God loves the South the best lol I dont use normal grocery store grits either, you can see the texture in those, I buy local coarse ground white corn grits, the flavor is soooo much better and the texture mmm is all I can say

Thanks for maintaining this log, Truth. Lurked and followed from the beginning, and have begun taking Ursobolic. I hope to provide a usage log in the not-too-distant future, but from a fat-loss / recomp / calorie deficit perspective.

Definitely putting it to the test tonight.. 2 big bowls of fiber one/kashi cereal.. Half chicken parma grinder no bun, big bowl of mixed nuts.. N granola bar. Most carbs I've had in past two weeks combined lol see how it goes in the am.. Have a police physical so I carbbed up.. Not like it's strenuous or anything.. Just rather be prepared than not have any fuel! It's at 930 am on a Sunday.. Bas!ards

Observations:

Ursobolic cannot prevent the heartache of your daughter and only child heading home and leaving you apartment empty and quiet again. Sigh...Miss her already. Anyway back to real life. Abs are a little blurry, but I ate unlimited quantities of whatever I wanted. Still not able to return to my clean diet as I will not let the leftovers go to waste. I think its a sin to waste food. Other than my depression over my daughter leaving I feel pretty good. The shoulder feels better but it is not healed. My elbows feel worse, how is that possible? I am now contemplating another week off, tomorrow still for sure. I was at walmart and as I was checking out the lady at the register commented that i looked bigger and more ripped than last time she saw me. Not what I was expecting after a week off. I will return my eating to my baseline slowly over the course of the week and hopefully my razor sharp abs will come back soon lol Prolly just water anyway ate a lot of sodium and carbs there is bound to be some water retention going on. Anyway gotta catch up on my sleep. More tomorrow

Observations:

All the Krappy food while tasty has left me feeling sluggish and not peppy. Ursobolic has helped but I do believe I have aquired some fat over the course of my food fest. Now we can see if when I take it to maintenance if can peel the little bit of fat off in a hurry. I am glad to be almost back to my normal way of eating, sitll have a few left overs to polish off. Also I am going to work out tomorrow. It's leg day and I intend to smash and bash them to make up for my sloth this last week. They are a ok and good to go. My shoulder is feeling much better but may still rest upper body another week to make sure we are all healed up and good to go. Don't want to rush it and wind up at square one. I have some spicy Ghost pepper dip to polish off may save that until after legs. Hope all the subbed had a great week end. I am ready to be healed and ready to f'n crush the GD gym!!!

Yes I write it all down have to document my crimes lol. I hope the shoulder heals up as well. I hate not being able to go all out and push like a mutha' uuugh! Monday's suck!!

Workout:

Was going to do legs but not feeling tip top and since I've been off a week I decided to to chest shoulders and tri's instead

Chest: Chest:
FreeMotion chest press, It allows for great contraction as you have free range of motion and you can bring your hands together at the top.
Did my work up sets and then progressed to working sets, the following numbers are per side. 80 x 15, 90 x 15, 100x12 x 3 120x8 x3

Plate loaded incline bench press machine 2 wheels and a quarter per side 6 sets x 12
I did not do cable flies as they aggravate my injury. Chest was good and swole

Shoulders:
Did hammer strength shoulder press went up to 120 per side 3 sets x 8 had rather have done DB overheads but too rough on my still nagging injury

Machine side laterals: 5 x 85 x12

Stopped it there could have done more, but was smart enough not to

Tricep:
Nose breaker simulator- was feeling good took it 10 lbs higher than ever before and got 8 reps x3 dropped back down and got 3 more sets for twelve. Moved to seated dip machine took it to 230 for sets of 10x5 Then on to cable pushdowns, Started at 70 and went to the bottom of the stack in 20 pound increments ending with eight x 4, at the bottom

Observations:
I did in fact push Ursobolic past its capabilities of keeping me lean. I gained 4 lbs I currently weigh 208. Keep in mid I did not at all control my Diet and there were numerous beers I forgot to log. I also did not do anything physical at all all week so it was an extreme test. Its alright, I will get my diet back on track and will erase what little bit of love handle that has crept up behind me lol. Sneaky little bastards. I was not going to let leaness get in the way of me enjoying my daughters company and eating the special things I cooked for her nor all the goodies my mom made for her. It was worth it and to be honest I find myself craving healthy things not junk. At least untll my girlfriend gets here in December. We are both gym rats but we also both love to cook, when we get together its trouble. Of course there will be physical activity.....hey get your minds out of the gutter, I'm talking about the gym.....wink wink :fing02:

Yeah, I thought better of hitting legs as I do tend to go all out after a break, guarding my shoulder prevented me from doing that that on chest. I'll be ready for legs tomorrow. I had a migraine headache today at work. It had subsided by my work out but I still felt off and I am certain if I'd squatted it would have set my head to hurting again. Yeah, I ate the last of the bad leftovers today and now I just need to get rid of the junk food lying around the house....hmm the most expedient way is to eat it lol
 
Yeah, I thought better of hitting legs as I do tend to go all out after a break, guarding my shoulder prevented me from doing that that on chest. I'll be ready for legs tomorrow. I had a migraine headache today at work. It had subsided by my work out but I still felt off and I am certain if I'd squatted it would have set my head to hurting again. Yeah, I ate the last of the bad leftovers today and now I just need to get rid of the junk food lying around the house....hmm the most expedient way is to eat it lol

My friend gave me recess peanut butter cups... OMFG, I haven't had those in years... (Japan has none), I ate one, then like 5 more... then because the way my body/mind reacts to sugar/sweets, I went scavenging ANYTHING i could find that was sweet... I woke up the next day feeling hung over... and like crap.. Then I remembered why I never eat that stuff. Then yesterday (that day I woke up feeling like crap), I had to remind myself NOT to eat those again, because that small voice was saying... just eat um all... get rid of um, by eating um... It'll be over and you'll enjoy it... just do it... ;)

Damn little EVIL voice... I didn't listen... but it was hard... lol

I listened, I polished the rest of mine off lol I cannot resist the Reeses, too damn delicious. Oh well Its time to Squat, update later

Took 3 caps 3 times over the course of the day

Nutrition:

Breakfast:

4 Whole eggs scrambled
8 ozV-8

Mid Morning:

50 Grams Whey Protein
43 grams peanuts


Afternoon:
50 grams whey protein
1/4 cup natty peanut butter


Pre workout/ intra workout:

1 Serving Purple Wrath

Post Work out:
50 grams whey
30 grams oat starch

Dinner:
240 grams Grilled Tilapia 2 tbsp olive oil
1 cup brocolli


Pre Bed:
30 grams whey protein
1 cup fiber one and 1 cup whole milk

Work Out:

Legs:
High rep Squats warmed up with 135 x 20, then 225 x 20 x 5, 275 x 12 x 1 315 x 8 x 2
I then did suicides on 225 did not count reps did three sets of as many reps as I could do

Lunges: 135 x 15 x 5, 155 x12 x 3 my glutes and quads were screaming

Leg extensions 150 x12 x 1 ,160 x 12 x 2, 175 x 10 x2, 200 x 8 pr never did 200 for more than a triple

Standing leg curls: 90 per leg x 15 x 2 100 per leg 12 x 2

Standing calve raises 4 sets of 12 with 250 cannot walk, legs are toast cramping hard as I type. Good satisfying sweaty workout

Observations: Was going to go really light today as first day back on legs in a bit. Did not push super heavy weights but stayed in the upper rep ranges, again did not do leg press, substituted lunges instead, I have only done lunges the last three leg workouts and can already tell a difference in my glutes and tie ins. That is one thing I have noticed about Ursobolic, if I choose to concentrate on a body part, in like three workouts there is a noticeable difference in that part. I think it is due to the increased IGF expression that the studies suggest. It would make sense anyway.

I will not lie I did lose some leaness, it makes me unhappy as I've become addicted to my ripped look. Oh well not even t3 could have saved me from the calorie load and lack of activity over the last 7 days, here's the challenge to see if I can get it back while injured and in the selfsame 7 days. ... I can do it!!

Anyway, those squats... wtfs dude! haha. Your leg day usually consist of like 200 reps? Where half are done in 5 sets and teh other half are done at 8RM? jeez... Then top it off with BURN SQUATS? dang... I should step up my squatting... haha

I've been on UA for 48 days now - I've been to the doctor twice during that time, the last visit yesterday. Never have I had high BP, but both of the last visits to the doctor and my BP has been high - yesterday was very high. Anyone else noticed elevated BP while on UA? I'm taking 6x3.
