Training and Fasting

well a $100 for me, to manage is a bit difficult... I don't earn nor do I get a fixed pocketmoney... but still I think I can manage some money after fasting on the eve of EID.

we'll see.

from which web u ordered?

I use Ebay to buy everything... If you don't use supplements usually & also if cash is an issue, try using a good PWO to begin with...

so how would one minimise cortisol after training before breaking the fast.
assume: training at 7am, finish by 8:30am (5x5 and then cardio)
break fast, 1-8pm...
thoughts if "CORTISOL" is what we are trying to reduce especially for abs

What hours of the day are you fasting zubda? Just the daylight hours? If so are you eating prior to sunup?

Well I eat before sunrise (can't eat after that).. that is like just before 4am. 5-10 mins before, and after some days it'll go past 4am too I guess.

and I break the fast AT sunset that is like 6:58pm (which was today) so I guess yeah, it's only the daylight hours!

I usually start to eat at 3:20am or some time like that, but if I am hungry before that I might also eat at that time...

Usually ebay.com don't ship where I live....

well I have used SOME supplements before...

I am soo soo damn pissed off! I am all angry at my family members! They won't give me money, won't buy me a bike! and when it's my time to go to the gym it's either they give me some work to do or they need the bike and it's unavailable and I can't go to the gym! it's happens ALOT! I can't go to the gym WHEN I want to often! Now today my father took the bike and returned home at 10:30pm when the gym is closed!

I really badly wanted to train today! I got in me proteins to break the fast and I was ready to hit it hard today!

****IN UNPLANNED OFF DAY!!

Cortisol during/after weight training isn't really something to be feared about unless your doing a 2 hour high volume high intensity workout aka marathon workouts, I see your doing a 5x5 protocol then cardio(how long? high or low intensity?), which isn't going to be too stressful so I wouldn't worry too much, it really comes down to getting in your daily macro nutrients, if you got them the day before and your not killing yourself in the gym you should be fine. :)

Why don't you try the warrior diet? It would fit into you Ramadan fasting. It's 20hrs straight fasting with a four hour feeding window. That way your not breaking your fast in the morning. muscle catabolism will not occur until over 36 hours from memory.

How is that good for muscle growth?

Just because it's a small feeding window doesn't mean you eat any less food. You just have a lot of food in 1 - 2 big meals. One of the major benefits of fasting is it's effect on HGH. Fasting long periods can increase HGH by up to 200%.

Well.... I think I can do that, but sometimes in this 15.5-16hours of fast I feel a bit hungry... and if I decide to do it I'll prolly have to manage ALOT of healthy and good foods + green salad to help me NOT feel bloated... I don't think I'll just start it right on, I'll think about it today and then post up what I thought....

You need to see horizon, bbc documentary. 'eat, fast, live long'

Today to break the fast I had a Fried Chicken breast, some salad, a lil fruits, pulses, and baked white bread.

TRAINING:

Delts:
Behind the back standing shoulder presses: 25kg x 10 (smooth and controlled)
Seated dumbbell presses: 18kg dumbbell pair x 8 reps.
Side laterals: 10kg dumbbell pair x 10 reps. (Not letting the dumbbells hit my legs, controlling and keeping tension on em)
Reverse pec dec: 7plates x 10 reps.
Barbell Incline front raises: fat bar without weights x 12 reps (THIS - KILLS!)
Wide grip upright rows: 20kgx10 reps. (end 3 reps were hard)

NOTE: This is what I was SUPPOSED to do yesterday!

after gym had a glass of milk, and after 2 hours of that had an icecream and 100grams of noodles (70grams carbs + 10grams proteins)

So are you managing with getting your calories in now? I'm still struggling with that, but my workouts are going great...

My arms have gained & my chest measurement is down only due to fat loss though, so it's a good thing... Got to get all my measurements done... I'm just to lazy... I do girth measurements too often on other people... I prefer the mirror & measuring my performance...

I thought about it! It's that I can't make myself do that from tomorrow, to do that I'll have to extend it (my fasting time) slowly... Like form 16 hours (in which I do feel hungry if I am not sleeping/slept for like 7-8 hours of my fast) to 17 hours and make it go all that way to 20hours...

Remember if your going to be fasting you should fast the same time every day so your body can become accustomed to when it's time to eat. Since you've only been fasting daylight hours but you've been eating after sunset and before sun up your not really fasting the full 16 hrs or so. Make sure you actually fast the whole time straight so you get the maximum benefits :)

Well... Yesterday my internet connection was all messed up... couldn't get here...

I took an off day yesterday ate goo, slept well...

Now it's been about 80mins since I broke the fast... Had some nuggets a bit of more fried food, mashed eggs and potatoes, a lil fruit and salad...

Gonna go to the gym in like 20-30 mins.. it's gonna be a makeup day or prolly a power hit day today...

I am fastinh for 15 hours now.... I was fasting for like 15hours and 45 mins before...

what do you mean I don't get you...

Ate good today.

Did a high threshold workout today...

Seated overhead presses: 5 sets for 1-2 reps each
standing push presses: 7 sets for 1-3 reps each
seated shoulder press: 6 sets for 2 reps each

Barbell power cleans: 3 sets for 5 reps each. (Light weight) (was totally gassed at this point...)

reverse pec dec: 3 x 8
side laterals: 12kg dumbbell pair 3 sets for 8 reps each
Seated dumbbell presses: 15kg dumbbell 2 sets for 8 reps

that was too many reps I don't exactly remember my weights I did... so not gonna post the numbersss...

Well are you eating at night then sleeping and then eating in the morning?

Just finished a 36 hour fast, first ever. Really felt euphoric after 16 hours, empty by 24 and lean like Gandhi by 36.

Look forward to the next few, it really feels like your being vacuum packed from the inside out!

Used to do the 16 hour+ daily fasts but rarely got much effect under 17% bf... although it got me down from 26% so that's brilliant, especially if starting out.

WOW man! a 36hour fast... that must be epic! How you got that much energy to go through all that time without food?

Again an unplanned off day today... Had to go with my father to take care of some work.... couldn't get to the gym///

I'm fasting as well and while it is difficult to only eat within a 6 hour window, I cant argue with the results. My strength isn't gone as long as I lift, but I've lost a decent bit of fat.

Fasting for 16-20 hours has been shown to increase HGH levels in a man by nearly 2000%. Compound that with HIIT exercises and/or lifting and your body should be surging with anabolic hormones.

Try fasting for 23 hours.. I been doing it for the past week. It's really not that bad with 10hr work days and goin straight to the gym after.. It's wen I'm sittin at home doin nothing wen hunger really kills me

Are you fasting for the entire 16 hours straight? That's what I was getting at lol

You prefer it for bulking or cutting? I think cutting, right?

YESSS! fasting for a straight 16hours. :P we are all rolled up I think lol

The gym was good today...

started with 5 mins of HIIT 30secs on 45 secs rest...

Barbell clean presses: 25kg for 10+10+8 reps. 20kg for 10+10 reps. to be honest that 25kg killed!
Jump deads: 80kgx5+5 reps. 90kgx5+5 reps. 100kgx5 reps.

Ended with 5 mins of HIIT same as started.

SUNDAYYY!! mean it was an off day today... no training... but I had chicken to eat... it's been some days.... gonna eat again in like 1.5 hours :P and get ready for 24th fast :) YAYY!

feeling a bit bad on my stomach today... i guess its cause of low water intake, or prolly no water intake atall during daylight hours... i was thinking of maybe taking an off day from fast and properly hydrate myself and refocus and recover...

How much water are you drinking on average?

Would it be so bad if he is just drinking water? I think that's what he's is talking about... Correct me if I'm wrong though cos I'm only assuming that's what he meant cos Ramadan means no water during fasting hours also... I understand the religious side, but it's not too good when in training to not drink water...

zubda345 you probably know that you should be drinking at least a litre of water per 25kg body weight, & an additional litre for every hour of exercise... Do you drink anything during your workouts?

For the record, I hate assumptions so I'm hoping I will be corrected if I'm wrong about the water & Ramadan thing... It's all learning...

yeah man, I can't drink water too... that's the religious side... and it's not good for training...

in usual days I do drink good amount of water but in ramadan it's like 2 liters and an additional 1 liter during and pre training per 24hours :/

I think that's less

Would u be frowned upon if breaking the fast(water only) for your health?

Well, I still did my workout today... I was alot better at the time of training after like 2 hour of breaking the fast... At 1st I thought I might not go to the gym today but then again I rested and went and trained after wards.... I think I made the right call because tomorrow 14th august is the independence day and gym is gonna be closed, If I wouldn't have trained today it have made it 3 days off straight... yesterday was off, sunday, today ( if I didn't trained) and tomorrow also because of a national holiday...

Would u be frowned upon if breaking the fast(water only) for your health?

yes... Breaking the fast without any solid reason (like if someone has got a serious health issue then he can break his fast - mine was not that serious) it's a Sin having a fast and then breaking it just cause I am thristy or any **** like that...

So you workout once you break your fast, not during the fast? Also are u still getting bloated?

What I had to break the Fast: Mango milkshake, some chicken, a lil fruits and about a liter of water...

I ate in large quantity, my belly was all bloated and it still feels like it's commin out... ana I gotta eat again, It's only 40 mins in the next fast....

GYM:
Romanian deads: 70kgx8 + 80kgx7+7
Straight leg calves press: 1st set with 7 plates for 40 reps. 2nd set with 6 plates for 40 reps. (this kicked ass! I was doing a controlled movement in a constant was without stoping at any position, it was like a 1010 tempo)
Bend knees calves press: 1st set with 5plates for 15 reps, 2nd with 6 plates for 15 reps. (3131 tempo... about at the end of both calves exercises my calves were just bouncing and were sore...)

ABS
Lying leg raises: 3 sets for 20 reps each
Lying side crunches: 2 sets for 20 reps each (was to do 3 but didn't cause I had to head home)

So you workout once you break your fast, not during the fast? Also are u still getting bloated?

yes, I workout once I break the fast.... yupp I am getting bloated... it's gotten up a bit since I started eating more...
