Topic of the Week: What is most underrated ingredient on the market today?

Betaine HCL with each meal for digestion, especially in a bulk.

Vitamin D - Even though I live in FL (Sunshine State) I still make sure I get in at least 10000 IU's a day
HBCD/EAA/Intra - I think Intra's in general are underrated and I am a BIG proponent of them

can't believe SAMe and tudca don't get more love!!!

Isn't SAMe pretty expensive?

it can be, but like everything else there are deals out there....well worth the money for me-noticeable improvement in joints and mood plus it has reported benefits for a healthy liver and I am a recovering alcoholic. I FEEL better/healthier when using it, noticeable drop off when not.

L-Citrulene (conversion to L-Arginine for NO)= amazing pumps, endurance, and recovery, for me. Even staight L-Arginine worked well
Vit D3

I'm going to go with Water, in the sense of intentionally forcing yourself to make sure you're getting at least a gallon per day.
Water helps muscle volume (especially w/ creatine), toxin removal, joint hydration, pump, mood, endurance, reduces cortisol, central to overall health, etc.

Being dehydrated even affects testosterone/cortisol ratio post workout, up to around ~20% less testosterone was released and almost 2x the cortisol, just from mild dehydration:

A high protein diet, exercise, and supplements like creatine, caffeine, etc. further increase the need for proper hydration.

Personally, I realized recently that I haven't been drinking enough water and am probably perpetually dehydrated (especially b/c I take c-hcl, lots of protein, and coffee). I've now started drinking 1.5 gallons per day (~8 of my 22 oz thermoses full) including 3 pre-workout. Energy is up, pump is better, mood is better.

how much do you dose per day?
Im 43 and looking to add this to my daily supplements.

thanks!

I try for 800mg daily, sometimes I go with 400mg, but at 400mg I start to feel a drop off in affects after 3-4 days.

try to start at 800mg for at least a few weeks to get level up. it is a very worthwhile supplement!!!

Fenugreek for what?

I had no idea not so long ago. It is useful for stomach disorders, mouth ulcers, sore throat, inflammations, weight management etc.
You can check thehealthsite for the 15 health benefits of methi or fenugreek seeds and leaves.

In the bodybuilding world vitamin D is under rated. In the medical field it's highly rated by medical directors and physicians. The amount of attention it gets in the field is absolutely at the top along with omega3.

I'd like to throw a good curcumin product as underrated for overall health. Maybe probiotics too, I just feel like it doesn't get a well deserved attention.

Latest research shows Vit. D has hormone like effects on the body..every single cell has receptors for it which is unusual for just a vitamin apparently..what's everybody's thoughts on Cordyceps?..I seem to respond well to it..underrated for me

What type of response do you experience with cordyceps?

Vitamin D is actually a secosteroid. It is involved in 100s of know gene expressions. If I take 20,000ius a day I notice a large jump in libido and breakout on my back a little. Def number 1 supplement for overall health/athletes

Do you take vitamin K2 with vitamin D3. Can 20k IU cause blockage to your hear.

Yeah I take a combo. Have taken just d3 before and it was still effective. I will only use it at that high of a dose for 6-8 weeks then drop down to 2,000ius a day. You liver stores D very effectively and you will be able to maintain optimal levels once your levels are up/high with a lower dose. I haven't found any toxicity data or anecdotal issues with anyone I've recommended high doses. MD's routinely rx 50,000iu pills @ BI weekly dosing. It's very safe due to the way your body handles it

Does it help build mass being a secosteroid.

Fresh frozen liquid Klamath Lake blue green algae by E3 Live. Most people feel it in 10-15 minutes, this stuff helped me get through college on bad sleep nights. Just makes you feel good for some reason.

Yep. 600mg twice per day.

Can you explain why? Everything I've read about Garlic is the active compound Allicin isn't present in these (and most Garlic supplements) and you can only actually get it's benefits from cutting/crushing raw garlic cloves or the brand Allimax/Alli-sure...

I've got a couple threads on it, but I meant to put an asterisk for >35 yo.

Benefits are enormous, primarily dramatically improved memory, energy, mood boost, and anxiolytic effects. If low, the improvement can really be astounding.

I'd consider a lot of things under-rated...

Closest to the top for me may be Agmatine.
Here on AM many of us rate it highly but it is still looked over in many pre-workouts and still banned in many countries (which we all want rectified so we can get it back into more internationally sold products)

Glucose control benefits, ergogenic and recovery benefits, neuroprotective...
It is something really only used in a pre-workout setting by most and its benefits extend far beyond this.

I have been using bulk (thank you SNS for having my back here) to add into any pre missing it, and before very large meals.
Some users also like it before sleep, others just want to bolster an all day pump, it can do a lot.

I remember when MAN released BLUEPRINT, it was touted as the holy grail of supplements.

Meh Agmatine is on the same page as fish oil in my book. Don't actually see or feel anything from taking it but still hoping for the best.

ALCAR in sufficient dosages is my pick. Obviously a known and praised ingredient, but usually only used at a 500mg dose. When I use about 4 grams a day, I have a better all around sense of well being, especially taking that dosage after a few weeks, along with the immediate benefits to energy and subtle focus benefits. Also the fat burning effect is much more pronounced at these dosages... Ive read 'studies' or alcar's page on examine.com that negate this claim, however... they are full of ****. Ive gone through kilo's of alcar, same dosage, same way, same effects. Never a complaint. Sense of well being, focus and energy effects, 1000 little other benefits, and a substantial recomp effect at a cheap, cheap, bulk price?? No brainer. Just up the dosage.

After some research I added this to my next supp order. Thanks for the share

wow, really? From a "pump" perspective? Or for overall health? I find this curious coming from someone with knowledge - stuff has tremendous benefits that aren't "felt" IMO. But, yeah, there aren't any supplements out there that actually make me feel a pump.

Not saying it doesn't do what alot of the studies suggest it does, but I have used it for a very long time consistently now and can safely say I don't feel much from it. Still hoping it is doing something beneficial though ;)

I don't notice any pump from agmatine, but I use it anyway in my pre. I do get a noticable pump from inositol arginine silicate and hydromax.

Id say a lot of these ingredients arent underrated.

My pick goes to lutein and zeaxanthin. Has awesome data for eye health and cognitive function and should be a staple for anyone with eyes
