Re: Labor Day sales, you planning on continuing leanness or add a few lbs coming up? I've been eyeing up Lean Cream for a while from IML, but will probably just stock up on some 4-andro.

Also, sounds like you're a little banged up. Maybe time for a little refeed / reverse for a bit to top you off?

Can you remind me the name of that gym in Vegas you went to?
We fly down to Vegas sunday for a couple days to chill by the pool, then we are road tripping route 66 from there, eventually landing in Phx to fly home. even though we have plans, I am pretty sure we won't be at the gym each of the 7 days and I think calories will be a little looser.

so next week will probably be a diet break for me more or less, within reason, and then resume the cut through sept/oct. From there I'll have to make some decisions about maintenance, reverse dieting, etc...

But today I may have flown too close to the sun. something totally wild happened.. I was getting ready for work and my wife complimented me on how lean I'm getting. I did not see that coming.

Hot chick shows up to the cable racks 2ft from me while I'm jerking the bar grip down and I just about died laughing. Could barely contain myself.

Saw another chick leg pressing 16 plates today. That was impressive!

Jerk off grip just means it was 2 handed right?

anything worth doing is worth doing right!

it's the single hammer style, it's not a rope but a steel bar. but it has the single eyelit at the top. it's like this rope, but steel (I assume). I can't find a picture cause I can't remember what you even call that grip style. But my buddies main fault in the deadlift right now is his grip. I think he has a 500lb pull but can't hold 465. so I thought for tri accessories today this grip would be a nice bonus to build his grip strength and I like it with a slight cross body movement that really nails the triceps beautifully. we had an awesome pump.

But basically like if you are facing the cable pull down machine, you're holding this 12" rod in your hand and with the ROM I had choosen to hit the spot, I was running that rod up and down the middle of my chest. IIWII lol

We do not count by total plates, my son, but rather only plates per side - this is the way
Brave of you to assume I didn't!

I honestly thought about that but 16 sounded more impressive.

Still not sure how many dudes I've seen stack 720lbs+ even on the press.

And she was smoking hot. Probably on the Brazilian volleyball team.

Well, I can’t Legpress 16/side, and the number of women I’m aware of who could possibly best me is such that the odds were decidedly in my favor to assume

No not even close - Spud makes a product called the Squat Buddy if you want a slanger for squat; it’s cool.

The last generation of neoprene sleeves was tighter and more supportive than the Rehband stuff you’re used to. Not nearly as great to wear through an entire session, but you could probably get a few lbs out of them. I always told myself I can get 10 out of switching to them. They typically cost around $70/pair and don’t have the longevity of the Rehband style because sewn seams failed after a while.

But the newer cylindrical generation of neoprene sleeves are more like $120 and so stiff you can stack weight plates on them without collapsing them. They are hard as hell to get on and especially off, wear out even more, and people talk about getting 30+lbs from them. I have taken them off others and am inclined to believe it.
My A7s Rigor Mortis are a pain getting off. Truly believe for me they are giving at least 30lbs on a good day. Equal to a lower end medium/ heavy wrap.

Landed in Vegas early, since room won't be available for an hour or two we opted to hit the hotel gym with our time to kill.

It's simple, but enough for a bro session.

Dragon's Lair, it's Flex Lewis' gym. Just about 15 mins off the strip.

I've also wanted to check out Powerhouse Gym Las Vegas, as I believe it's run by Hidetada & Iris Kyle...

Jealous! Is it December yet???
Have fun and can’t wait to see some food pornz

Hey take a pic of where you are at the end of this cut so you have arecord before you blow it out with vacation food. :)

weird! I'm basically unaware of it at this point. No sense of euphoria at application. I do look forward to it because it smells great, but the carrier is completely light on skin, no need for lotion etc. I have a feeling it would be a wicked addition to a bulk/strength cycle because my numbers are staying strong despite still cutting fat/weight and I did have that squat PR last week.

I peaked at 207 in Dec and averaged 200-203 in June.
So far this cut has me down to 186.8lbs this morning.
I wanted to see if I could hit 185 by Sept 1 when we head out on our trip and it's looking really close so far...

haha I saw that. I'm not even sure what I'd get though unless I was just going to buy more gear cream to stock up for later...?
Well, I think your adductors are aware of it, it that session would have typically hurt you in the restroon, and didn't on a nice deficit then the gear cream is working very well!

Amen to that. I am enjoying the cut and the way my clothes feel. every time I drop another couple lbs I say "abs are getting close, just 5-10 more lbs" 😅

dysmorphia and mind fucks abound. I'm depleted, so there is that, but on the treadmill I was looking at my arms thinking damn, have they shrunk that much? I just want to be about 185lbs, shredded as Kleen, but built like you and Hyde. is that so much to ask?

Being light and lean feels absolutely amazing. I haven't felt this good in my shirts in 2 years. But now I really am already starting to miss the feeling of how big I felt 21lbs ago this past winter.

I have no problem admitting that this juxtaposition is very difficult for me to balance....

The worst part is I'm not sure my wife notices anyways so it's not like gaining 20 or losing 20 gets me more ass 😅😅🔥
Yeah depletion is a bitch but once you get used to the idea a one or two day carb up is all you need to refill and see how much leaner and more mscular you actually look with some carbs in you. The flat depleted look will get in your head but seeing leaner self with 5-10lbs of glycogen stored in the muscle will change your mind. You may even want to go back into the cut to get the rest off for a really good rebound.

Legs day, sorta.

Leg press

Back squats

Super set front squats

Threw in some random bicep work and tricep work cause wife and I were lifting together and she wanted ideas for her tricep day and bicep work. (Today was back and bi for her)

PreWO
Two cups of hotel room coffee
XPG Carnitine

I love packing my normal sleeves, wraps, shoes, and shorts because it makes the hotel gym sessions more intentional and productive mentally I think. Invalid Link Removed

I always enjoy the hotel sessions when I do them; probably just the novelty but it’s worthwhile to me!

Honestly me too, I feel like training has started to develop a direction again lately and become more intentional.

Today we drove from Vegas to Boulder City to grab a paper map, as is our tradition (no GPS allowed)

Through Kingman, AZ into Seligman where the Pixar movie Cars was filmed, on to Williams, AZ where the great PooZeum is holding prehistoric poo, but it was closed. So from there we drove into Flagstaff for a bit to walk around and raced to Sedona to catch a sunset hike.

Supposed to do a sunrise hike tomorrow, then drive south to the Scottsdale area for a couple days.

Feeling incredibly decompressed away from work!

Such a great feeling when you stumble across a hotel gym that has ACTUAL real life equipment! Those pics look beautiful man, soak up that tranquility.

Beautiful pictures, and awesome gym for a hotel gym.

A GHR on the balcony overlooking the pool and that view - I don’t know what else you could really want out of life

For real! And it was one of the cheapest hotels in Sedona but crazy nice facilities. My wife said next time we need to stay a couple more nights and just embrace the "shuttle to the trailhead" cattle prodding side of hiking public trails instead of trying to find the hot spots early enough to get parking.

Today was a heavy driving day south, dropped my wife off and took the rental car back. Sixt was a solid choice. Not sure I like driving a BMW but it was nice and the price was like $60/day.

Only agenda tonight is clean dinner and pool. We are toying with hitting the LA fitness in Scottsdale tomorrow before we pick up friends at the airport joining us for the weekend.

OK now we're talking! Solid gym, even some outdoor equipment, and man that view! Enjoy it brother. Soak up every minute of that desert sun!

First time I had to pay for a drop in ($15) on this trip but it was a solid gym! 10/10 would hit it again.

No belt so didn't push squats, but got some work in. Sprinkled in some back and biceps since those areas have largely been neglected this trip.

PreWO XPG Carnitine was hitting the legs hard today

The weight area out by the pool was awesome but this was the most creeper pic I was willing to take lol. I figure randos didn't need me taking their pics.

Thursday was a no gym day. Wife and I chilled most of the day then hit the aquarium in Scottsdale before picking up friends at the airport.

Friday morning we hit the salt River for a tube float. Lasted about 3 hours. Wild horses everywhere, lots of cool and very large birds.

FWIW we all agreed we'd do that float again in a heartbeat but probably do the half trip instead. 3+ hrs was a bit much even starting at 9am on what would become a 110f day

Dude, I am jealous, where is this again. That float looks amazing, and the wild horses, c'mon what a special treat! That gym and one by the pool look awesome too!

Loving all the pics; sounds like you guys had a great time.

That Sissy Squat by the pool, with the rope so you can hang on for dear life as you torture your legs into failure while people casually swim laps, cracked me up!

Looks like you are having a great vacation. Would be hard to really training hard with all the natural beauty around.

Great views! Definitely making me long for another trip somewhere... keep on living it man!

It was a pretty great trip, I love the open road when you get out of WA and there is not traffic. We flew into Vegas and stayed at the Tuscany Suites just barely off strip. It's way cheaper than strip hotels and they had the $175 Cabana (which we didn't even use) and a fridge/kitchen so we stocked it with real protein/meat to help keep nutrition tracking. we stayed there for 2 days, then took our rental car down south to route 66.

We drove through Kingman, Seligman, then Williams, AZ along 66 before stopping at Flagstaff briefly, then down to Sedona where we stayed at Los Abrigados. That one shocked me because it was one of the more affordable hotels in Sedona but the complex was fantastic with that legit gym that had the mountain view. We did a sunset hike the day we arrived, then a sunrise hike the next morning. Grabbed an egg white omelet, walked the downtown area, and basically we were back on the road by around 10-11am headed south to Fountain Hills, AZ right outside of Scottsdale.

The gym I dropped into there was Peaks Athletic Club Invalid Link Removed
Definitley a place I'd probably get membership if I lived there. I think next time my wife and I visit I'll look at the 1 week membership.

The river float was about 25 minutes south around Lake Saguro on the Salt River:
Invalid Link Removed

we decided we would DEFINITELY do the float again, but we'd do the half float since 3.5hrs was a little long, and we'd likely take our own floaties. the river was mild enough that you could honestly get any lounge style pool float and not necessarily need their industrial tire tubes.

The aquarium is over in Scottsdale, I've driven past it on the highway many times so we finally hit it on our way to the airport to pick up some friends of ours. We had dinner reservations at A Different Point of View where we have done sunset dinner before but opted to skip it this time to avoid the drive and $$$ Invalid Link Removed

but it's a great place for a sunset dinner if you end up in AZ and need a place to take your lady friend!

That SIXT car rental ended up being $217 total. We rented it Sunday when we arrived in Vegas and I returned it at the Phoenix airport Wednesday evening then took an Uber back to the house (I had dropped my wife off first so she could get groceries). Maybe I'm nuts, but $217 to drive a car across 2 states and 12 towns over 4 days seems like a hell of a price! and that includes a $57 refuel fee because I returned it with a half tank. I had hoped to find a gas station at the airport but didn't so I figured I'd jsut take the hit. I feel like I've seen car rentals higher than that per day in other places.... (which is why I usually Uber)

That is an exceptional price. It can often be $100/day or more for airport car rental, nevermind the big fees for dropping off at a different location.

Man sounds like you had a great time. You can’t beat finding good gyms with a view on vacation. And wild horses while you swim in the river, that’s really cool. The aquarium looked pretty good too…..everywhere my wife and I go, now that we’re older, we always check out any aquarium we can find. We have passes to the largest aquarium in the world, the Georgia aquarium, which is awesome, but we always find one to visit when we travel.

oh for sure. I think a chevy mailbu was the cheapest car I could find outside of SIXT for like an extra $10-20/day so I figured I'd give SIXT a try, slightly less expensive with a BMW X3. I'd never driven one before so I figured i'd give it a shot. I liked the higher ride than a car, but I don't think I'm a BMW guy, I definitely like the drive of my Chevy's and Cadillacs more. Still, amazing price. I thought they were a new rental company but I guess they're like 100 years old??

That's awesome, I used to go to the Seattle Aquarium all the time but it's been a while since just driving into Seattle has become a pain in the butt these days. I was very very happy to get home and see my tank was thriving while we were gone, dirty but thriving lol. I changed up my light settings on it before we left and my corals really seem to love the change.

The wild horses are still sorta surreal to me cause I grew up around horses so seeing them walking around in water felt like just cruising through someones pasture, it's hard for my brain to understand these are wild animals 😅

I know you’re a long ways away, but if you ever have the chance to visit Cumberland Island here off the coast of Georgia is really cool. The island has wild horses and is a beautiful rustic place to camp and hike around. I think it’s the only unmanaged group of wild horses on the east coast.

That's awesome. I definitely want to do a tour of the region and I want to better understand Alabama and Georgia both. I almost came down to Hotlanta when I was in south carolina on business but couldn't persuade my co-worker to make the drive south to check it out with me. only other time I was even close was snow goose hunting in Missouri but damn that was blizzard season... a bit rough lol

Last weight before vacation was 187.x so we'll see how much comes off in a day or two of slightly lower sodium eating. we were probably 90/10 eating the first 5 days, then a bit more lax when our friends met us but even then if we ordered a burger we split it. Egg white omelets for breakfast or fasting etc.

yes I pulled out the slingshot today lol. 285 moved fantastic and I was feeling plumpy with the extra calories so I wanted to feel heavier weight in my hands.

My next travel day is 8 weeks out so I want to see what I can accomplish by then. to be honest I feel like a moderate diet break last week, and CNS recovery, is a great lauching point to kick off another cut.

Those dumbbells were FLYING today when I got started. Felt like a great session all in all.

It always feels good when you come back from a vacation or trip rejuvenated, and you’re ready to get back into your routine. It always feels like it’s a good time to kick it up a notch. Sounds like you guys behaved yourselves pretty good on your diet. That’s a hard one for me, ha, because when I go on vacation I do tend to eat a lot. But usually I’ll do some kind of cut before a trip, then I can use the trip as my refeed time.😜

It's always nice to have a trip on the horizon because it feels like I'm setting a peak week and I know I can trash myself before I go. We often times split meals and do a lot of walking/exploring when we travel so it helps balance out calories a lot. My wife tends to be a wine drinker so on this trip she ordered a lot of iced teas and when she had a drink it was a vodka soda. I'm not much of a beer drinker except the occasional IPA but a couple times when I had a drink I'd get a bourbon + diet coke to make the drink "bigger" without adding calories and alcohol.

All that said, weighed in at 186.8 this morning which is technically a 1/2 lb lighter than my last weigh in before our trip so something must be working! When I saw how quickly the scale corrected I pounded a protein shake this morning first thing and put another half scoop in my coffee.

holy **** that session tore me up. I left so much on the table I wanted to do but pulled the cord because I didn't want to do so much I watered down the effect. Threw my shirt in the trash half way through, glad I keep 2 or 3 in my bag at all times 😅

You hulking out of your shirt or just that sweaty?

Haha a little bit of both. It was an old redcon shirt I hadn't worn in a while. I noticed a smell after a bit. Then I was sweating through it. Then suddenly the neck was like triple sized, the sleeves all stretched out. I was like that's it, I'm out.

Sounds like you got a little metabolism boost from your vacation calories and the body is happy about it. Allowing for a new drop once calories are regulated again. That is the magic of a well executed refeed compared to a gluttonous food vacation.

@Hyde on my exit survey Sixt emailed me I mentioned that our rental car had a substantial cigarette smell, although I gave everything else 5 stars. staff, pricing, and car were great (although they will struggle to fix that smell cause it blows straight out the vents at this point). They gave me a huge price reduction/credit on the trip we just completed (i just received an email back from them). I'm blown away by this company, I'll definitely be using Sixt again. Great price, awesome service.

I was hoping for that! 2 months of caloric deficit with cardio, then a hard push in the end with daily TRF until our trip knowing I'd be on a bit of a diet and training break (although I still behaved pretty well). Today weighed in slightly lower, at a new low, of 186.2 so we'll see what happens from here. I can definitely slow my roll a bit since I'm setting halloween as my next target date for this extended cut (we have an event on 10/30).
