I Hear you guys on the long arms thing.. Im almost 6'3" prolly more like 6'2.5" who cares.. anyway my reach is like 6'7".

you really dont want to be that tall trust me.. hard to find clothes at regular stores, and some lifts suffer.. although I do regularly hit 315lbs on the flat BB bench with my reach, which I'm pretty darn proud of, but squatting is a no no for me.

I'm 6'3 and my height doesn't bother me.

Look at the late Dave Pasenella here squatting 1,045 at the height of 6'6!!! And his bench was 600+ if I remember correctly.

I've got to agree with Thunder on this long arm discussion.

I've hit some fairly hefty weights on all 3 majors with supposed long arms. You've just got to pound away and build that power. Obviously there will be some lifts that come easier than others but they are all workable movements. I would say the only guys who could really complain are the really tall guys much like tattoopierced1. 6'7? those are some long arms to be benching. and he has still worked himself to having a solid bench.

But like TG has shown us it can be done. Just DO IT!
 
he looks a bit more proportioned than I am though, BB squats are very hard on my knees, so I stick to hack squats
 
I wonder if squats aren't hard on everyone's knees once you get to a certain point in life. I too have gotten away from them for the same reasons. Now its hacks or presses. Both higher reps and lighter weights. Lighter being relative of course. But shorter rest between to really get that pump going.
 
I'm not complaining! I still beat it up. I think this time last year I was deadlifting 160 or so. Flat bench is just much more agreeable when I have a spotter. I've dropped the sh*t on my neck before.
 
I bench in my power rack with the pins set for protection for that very reason!! Got stuck once and will never do that again.

I hear you both on the safety issue. Getting stuck is never fun. I've done the old dump and run on the bench before and its not the best feeling in the world. Big weights or not.

I think the talk of having long arms and not being able to bench big from guys who are just above 6 feet is a little much though. And really though, do any of us need to have that big of a bench? What are you going to do with it besides tell people? How much ya bench!

The furthest thing from what I said is that I don't like benching, or that I am not going for a huge bench press with my goals. I bench 275 and I bet I can beat that, and I have a long way to go and a lot left in me.

What I was saying was I have a lot longer of a distance to move the weight than some dude who is 5'8" with a relatively similar chest size as me. My arms go FAR beyond parallel to touch my chest with the bar. I know dudes how can rest the bar on their chest and their elbows are barely past 90 degrees.

Not complaints, I have no desire to be short at all. Just some compound movements don't have to move as far depending on how tall one is.

I didn't mean to touch that sensitive nerve. I never thought that you said you didn't like benching. I just don't think that being over 6 feet tall lends anyone an excuse for not having a bigger bench than they think they need. I'm 6'1, my reach is more like 6'4. Not short arms. Every bench I've ever done has been to the chest for a pause and back to the lock out.

I'm hearing you that shorter guys do have an advantage in this movement. But how tall are some of the biggest benchers in the world? I don't have the stats in front of me but I would think in the 6 feetish range?

And I'm with you. I don't want to be short. I like being average or better height. But I just can't buy that line of speak that I have to move the bar so much further so it makes my bench weaker. Work the weak spots and improve. Because like you said, we've all got a long way to go and have a lot left in the tank.

I don't want you to think I'm trying to give you sh*t. I have learned a tremendous amount from your threads and look forward to soliciting more advice from you in the future.

I thought I was in the fetal position for a reason. G was asserting his dominance and I was on my back with my tail between my legs! And I'm a taller guy.
But it is just a physics thing. Leverage and angle and all that stuff. I wish I had those shorter arms to get those weights up and off but other wise I'm good with being over 6 feet.
And I get poon like the short guys unfortunately. very sad...

You are a serious, intense guy from what I've learned and want to make sure you are fully understood. I get it. People can draw the wrong conclusions and it can piss you off. I've been there.

No way. Keep that attitude. That character trait has probably been responsible for many of the positive things that you have accomplished in your life. Lose that and lose the edge.

That added chemical aggression should lead to some great gym rage stories! I do hope your girlfriend has a patient side to deal with you and that intensity. The yin for the yang right? A little balance is a good thing for every one.

Ive got long arms thats all i said, i get it done, no complaints. I can jab guys in the face from a deceptive distance. When fighters stand sizing eachother up, i pop them in the mouth when they think they are safe.

Plus when your moving with long arms you take couches, cabinets and washing machines while other "normal" armed people wrangle boxes.

Me and my lifting buddy felt some knee pain first set... probably from our last leg beatdown... so we did an extra set at 135. Felt heavy. Then we did 225 - 8 is damn respectful for me, but then I racked it up again - he shouted at me and the retard strength kicked in... 10 @ 225 is a rep PR - a full set of 12 I believe was supposed to be my end all goal for squats. Then of course the obligitory

Leg Press - Close Stance
10*180, 10*270, 10*360, 8*450, 6*450
Pretty standard here... but when we were done - we spend about 6 minutes rolling around on the floor trying to get our legs to work again. I'm so glad this dude and I started doing legs together - bringing sh*t to a whole 'nother level.

Lying Hamstring Curl
12*110, 10*110, 10*110

EZ Skull Crushers
10*85, 9*85, 7*85

EZ Curl Dropsets
3 at failure w/ 85, 65, 45

Dual Cable Curls
10*30, 40, 50

V Bar Press Down
One of those double pulley things... So I can't tell how much I was doing (I know it wasn't 140 like it listed)... anyway, I did 5 sets ramped down to exhaustion each set.

Feel great today. Slept well for the first time since the cycle started last night... 7 full hours with no tossing / turning. Be surprised how much that helps I guess. Money also suggested a stim PreWO to combat some of the lethargic feelings I've been having. The RPM I had in my cupboard will be a staple for the remainder of this cycle.

Tell you what, nothing quite like needing to use the railing to get up from the basement squat racks to do arms. Some dudes look at me like I just got railed in the ass (probably excites them a bit)... But my pain is beautiful... Go f*ck yourselves.

Really can't say enough about how well this has been going the last 3 workouts. I'm very impressed. Just as a side note - I dosed 20mg of Nolv last night, and I'll split another 20mg pill over the next two nights - then cease.

I feel sorry for Grilla... :lol: if you try to have a 35 minute "workout" with me - I'm going to beat the everloving sh*t out of you. :buttkick:

just to clear my name!!!!! I ALWAYS WORKOUT FOR A LONG TIME!!!! When I was with GMG I had a short amount of time and a bunch of ****ing girls texting me and calling me, telling me they wanted to drive back! so don't get any idea's that I am a ****ing slacker!!!
