Hope u can work around the elbow bud without setting yourself back.

lil food pic, since it's been awhile.
before i got to munching on it, was 10oz lean (96%) beef, chopped up with onions and shrooms, can't see the bleu cheese crumbles anymore cuz they already melted.
paired with the usual 5oz salad w/ tomato & red pepper (balsamic vinaigrette/olive oil dressing this night), and couple carmel rice cakes for dessert. (low carb meal, 670cals total)

i twinged my back bending over for a runaway crouton..

my weakness - love me some croutons.

oh, forgot to mention..
i've settled in to a finite postWO nutrition..altho i like switching things up, this is sweet in its simplicity.
i strive to keep macros ~80-90g carbs/40-50g protein, minimum fat for this timing.
been rolling with :

1 can Sierra Mist Natural,
shake of 2 TBS brown rice syrup + 2 scoops isolate

that sierra mist is crisp and refreshing, cheap too.

Man that mist looks mighty yummy, I used to be a soda junkie. I'd drink mt. Dew all day. I'm scared to allow myself soda. Ill have a diet soda with my cheat meals every now and then but every time I have them all I can think about is having one lol

I used to be a hardcore Diet Mountain Dew Junkie. I buy a 2 liter and am throwing out the empty bottle in record time....Been avoiding that aisle in the grocery store because I know how bad I am with it, lol.

Haha seriously my wife hounded me for years about my pop drinking when I was a fat ass that's the first thing I did was cut it completely and lost like 10lbs in no time. I tried drinking a reg soda (not diet) a while ago and felt so sick, I have no idea how I used to drink all that shiit.

this mountain dew talk brings back memories of this guy i used to work with, he drank three 2-liters of dew every day..and that was just while we worked together..was ridiculous.
much like you bean5er, once he slimmed back his use, he slimmed his physique in record time - without even working out.

i only drink regular pop @ postWO, and even that is a relatively new thing for me.
other than that, i can prolly count on both hands the number of times i've had regular soda since, well, the 90s.

man, i'm old. :ugh:

I think I have read that the carbonation also aids in speeding the sugars into the system. Not too bad a choice at all.

I used to be a coke addict. Could rifle through a 12 pack of cokes in a day without blinking. I pretty much only drink Pepsi Max for sodas now. The Gensing in it really takes the diet soda aftertaste away. Not to mention gensing has some decent benefits of its own. It is typically what I drik on the way into work in the mornings but I only get through about half of one before I get to work then it is almost never finished once there.

My crutch right now is the (blue can) zero carb zero sugar rockstar. Fuqq I drink coffee black in the winter but hate drinking coffee any other time of year thoughts on my rock star crutch??

watch out for the hidden sugar alcohols, if you're counting cals.

moving leg day to tomorrow, back is still a lil tight from saturday.

lower body, scheme #2 -- with a lil twist.
back feeling fresh again, but i wanted an addtl day of rest to ensure healing.
so, did some walking DB lunges in place of the deadlifts, and broke the 4-rep scheme with these, instead doing @8 steps per leg since i haven't done them in awhile (kept the squats @6x4)..felt pretty good.

elbow is feeling better too, but not quite all the way back yet. still feels funny when i awake in the morning..
better heal up! Month #2 in the program is looming, and ima need dem elbows at full strength!
(ooooo clean & presses coming..haven't done in a very long time..)

lol DW, wth..never seen that one.

i don't think Chris is a fan of our humor. :o

on srs side tho - a 12-pck of coke/day or any other sugar soda - crazy.
i cannot imagine.

new york recently passed a law that no fast food joint/gas station etc. can sell any soft drinks larger than 20oz.
you can refill it as much as you want, but the container size can contain no more than 20oz at a time.
(oh except 7-elevens - they are exempt)

those east-coaster politicians man..first no trans-fats in restaurants..now this..always on the cutting edge.

that's not really my issue.
sure - makes sense, in a common-sense dietary approach way..
if i made up these rules for my household and guided my kids with these guidelines, fine.
that is my private household business.
government role is not to tell us what we can and cannot ingest, or regulate my caloric choices, sorry.
it would seem they have much bigger issues they could apply their valuable attention to.

the 7-eleven thing, yeah i have no clue - would seem their big gulp's would be the PRIME offender.

Down with big Government! The current temperature of the Government is bordering on heading towards socialism. Don't the people understand they will lose their liberties when they want to completely rely on the Government to take care of them. We need a strong third party of people who are somewhere in between the right and left wing, the body where most of us truly live anyway. Sorry for the political derailment.

anyway - Kleen, glad you laffed along. :biglaugh:

training today: none, rest

interesting meals i been having lately.
last night for supper, i had:
5oz lean beef
3oz black forest ham
3oz roast beef
1/2 cup jasmine rice (Matt Porter inspired the jasmine rice..yum love the stuff)
625cals

<4500cals i put down yesterday -- and weight dint change one bit>

for breakfast today, was:
5oz lean beef
1 cup frosted mini-wheats + 6oz almond milk
then, the shake: 1 scoop isolate + 1/2 cup cottage cheese + 1/4 cup oats, in 10oz of water.
nice lil 650cal meal there, delicious and nutritious and well-balanced.

oh...and dem walking DB lunges yesterday -- they tore me up! :o
(in a good way)

Just jumped on the Jasmine wagon myself...heavenly!!

90% of the rice I eat is Jasmine Rice. :D

I will have to see what the jasmine rice is all about now. I don't know that I have ever had it.

Not to sidestep the convo here but damn bolt what is your body fat in your avi? You look hard as nails and dry to boot.

Kleen,if you have ever eaten chinese food? Which I am sure you have...it's that. Sheer goey splendor. Lmao

Don't wanna derail but that was several months ago at my absolute best at the end of my cut. Body fat measuring is always iffy for me and I like to go by the mirror. With that said it was 6-7% based on Skin Folds, so prob 7-9ish. Was real dry and lean but was definitely more I could have shaved off if I was to approach competition levels IMO. :)

Sheer goey splendor.

huh. well, i wouldn't have drawn that comparison myself, but yeah it's pretty apt.
stuff is nice and moist, buttery-tasting w/o even adding butter.

well guys - me thinx i'm gonna try some upper body work tomorrow, kick lower body back to FRI, and start setting up for month #2 in the program.
no DB tho, will stick with BB to ease in.
i'm ready..been kinda stir-crazy w/o the upper body action.

Me thinks you might be displaying your OCD. Hold of the rest of the week you can do it. Exercise your discipline that you have with food for your decision to save your body. Just because it doesn't hurt with a lack of stressing it doesn't mean it isn't still going to be sensitive to re-inflaming Give it the week, and know you gave it proper rest. THink about it after a week you can come back and grow more with less weight and step up slowly, more points of adaptation via progressive overload equals more growth. Let it ride the week out. Heal it. Just like with a sore muscle you dont want to hit it the moment it stops hurting you want to hit it when it is recovered. Just my $.02 from one old man to another.

good points Chris, surely. i appreciate the contribution.
(love the from one old man to another bit too lol)
i don't really feel i'm making a reckless decision tho - if i went back to DB and tried slinging heavy weight again like nothing ever happened, i'm sure it could resurface with a quickness. i've been diligent in my treatment, and posing/squeezing to put pressure on the area & surrounding tendons/structural support feels notably different. if this was a chronic condition, i would certainly agree and err on the side of caution..but, i've never really had elbow issues, so i don't think there is reason to continue to avoid.
just my thoughts..
obviously, if i feel any kind of discomfort, i can pull back once again. and, i will avoid dips (weighted or otherwise) for a few days yet, to assess.
but i feel i am ready for some basic work.

once again - thanks for looking out. i do really appreciate it.

Some food porn for you bubba..
chicken breasts cut in 1/2 and baked in a pineapple/habanero salsa.

Sounds like a solid thought process, I am sure you will be on the look out for signs of stress on it. No dips is a good idea and no more than 90 degrees on triceps extensions first week back in would be a good idea to to keep from over-stretching it under the stress of weight. I am sure you know all these things but doesn't hurt to be reminded.

Oh wow, is the salsa homemade? I am not normally a big fan of pineapple with my meats but dayum that looks and sounds good. I love mango habanero sauce and not a fan of mango by itself either so this may be right up my alley.

@ Kleen - i may not even do any tri extensions for a few more days..just keep to some simple incline BB/cable pulldown to front, pronated grip/standing military and maybe some standing BB curls first couple times, see how it goes.

@ AZ - oh wow my friend.
yummy.
(glad i just ate) :D

Sounds good on that workout. Tomorrow is my high rep light day. I do 15-20 reps, start with 3 sets of isolation exercise with no elbow movement to pre-exhaust then 2 sets of a compound movement for each body part to finish it off. It gives my elbows a nice rest while obliterating the actual body part.

Don't AZ but I'm looking for new chicken recipes as I'm not a huge fan of chicken. Hoe long and what temp do u bake them at? I'm getting sick of mine grilled. Lol moving back to tilapia and angus beef for a week or two. Any insight on some juicy chicken I'm all ears

as it was written, so it came to pass. :hammer:

awoke in a foul mood this morning - stayed up late to watch the DET-OAK game, just to see my Tigers wrap the series up..led the whole game, up 3-1 in the 9th only to watch freakin closer (?) valverde blow it in less than 5min.
so, had some fuel for the early morn workout, and a good one it was.

very basic, did some incline BB bench alternated with cable pulldowns (pronated), 6 sets working pyramid up in weights/down in reps. started at 225x12 on the incline BB, just feeling things out, ended at 325x4 -- elbow felt solid thruout! no issues at all.
moved to standing military presses, did 5 straight sets @135x8, again just working back into things, dint want to push.
ended with some direct ab work (almost forgot what this was like been so long lol)..no arm movements this day.
just a very nice day in the weight room, very pleased..nice to have teh chest a bit swole again. :D

Damn young man..325 on incline! :hail:

Damn young man..325 on incline! :hail:
was really pretty ridiculous the ease with which i got it too..and, there was no poor form. i take these suckers down to where my neck meets the very top of my chest.
DB might have been smashing up the elbows (i think it was weighted dips too contributing, prolly the weighted pull-ups as well)..
but - dem DBs sure do make strength go up.

I agree totally. For total functional strength,DBs have it covered. My bitch is that I workout at home and the biggest mine go to are 95s. Makes for high rep sets.

price of DBs sure has gone up..i bought most of mine new, when they were 50 cents/lb or less (think my first pair of 'good ones' was @ 33 cents/lb).
haven't added to my supply in yrs, too expensive. :(

nothing wrong with higher reps bro - some self-protection from elbow issues there. :)

plus - shorter rest periods and higher reps would be my preference, in a perfect world.

all kinds of ways to work around limited weights (not trying to preach to the choir here..you obviously know what you're doing) :D

Oh no doubt...and drop sets will take care of business also. :fing02:

Oh no doubt...and drop sets will take care of business also. :fing02:
boom! exactly.
biggest DBs i have are 125s - and they're collecting dust in the corner right now.. :o

on a random note - considering my next approach after i run this freak protocol out..was thinking of applying some DC principles.
i'm still bent on gaining some strength before my next show-prep begins.

You older gents sure keep my ass motivated!!!! Killer workout snags. Keep inspiring!

On another note
I bet that series was a tough one to watch being a Tigers fan! Being an Oakland fan through and through I enjoyed it! :sgrin:
Having played college ball as a catcher it was tough to watch them blow that series no matter who I was rooting for.
Keep killing it snags
