The Official "I Train Legs Twice a Year Thread"

I hardly do legs, but I have a reason. I compressed my L3 and L4 about 2 years ago doing heavy squats and if I go real heavy on either squats or deads then my back gets aggravated and I can barely move for a week or two. Thus the closest thing to squats I do is hindu squats every now and then.

I wish I could train legs heavy though.

i kill my calves 3-4 times a week. i hit my hams hard with deads once a week but i WILL NOT do sqauts!!!!!

How heavy can you go? My L4 is herniated, and my T-11 is as well. I can do squats without hurting my back, but I am reluctant to go very heavy. It seems that as long as I don't get carried away I can get away with squatting.

I can definately understand your not wanting to take the chance. I have shifted the disc in my L spine a couple of times since injuring it, and it hurts like a *****. It sucks.

they are very strong as is. i really dont want to fcuk my knees up.

if you use the correct technique(which VERY few people know) you put little to no shear stress on the knee.

Actually I havent worked my calves in a while either. So the other day I did 300 calf raises with my bodyweight. Not too bad right?

Well 2 days after that, I literally could not walk without looking like a ballerina. My calves were completely torn up.

If I stood up straight (straightened my knee), the pain was horrible, and could not manage.

Took about 2 days of rest to recover :(

I ALMOST missed my leg workout but lucky enough I found someone else that wanted to hit legs, and beat them up Saturday night. Been hitting calves twice a week, and they're finally starting to grow.

I work out my legs more than I work out my upper body. You want read that bi curls are going to increase your test levels or the weight you see on the scale. I thought it was close to impossible to gain solid muscle with out beating the hell out of your legs but even if thats wrong I will still be in the gym today doing my squats!!!!

Please explain! I'm a big squat fan, and like to think I have some awesome form.. But, what is this technique you speak of?
