So when they abate they just kill the part that absorbs iodine. Not malnurshed at 6'2" and 217#. My BF is higher than I like though
I have slight hyperthyroidism and VA doctors wants to abate (kill) part of my thyroid and give me pills to fix it. Some people who knows please respond
Do you mean hypo-thyroidism?
- Hypo-thyroidism = thyroid is working less than functional; e.g. you have slow to no metabolism and can be overweight or obese
- Hyper-thyroidism = thyroid is working too much; e.g. you will be nothing but skin and bones because your metabolism is too high, so you can't keep on any weight (muscle OR fat)
lol, just dawned on me he might have mixed the two up beast. Though the mention of killing off part of the thyroid is certainly not consistent with anything related to treating hypo.
TSH 0.010 Free THYOXIN 1.9
Yeah.
Are you on any medication? If those are baseline numbers, that's certainly screaming "hyperthyroidism" but being overweight doesn't seem to come along with that unless you're looking at a secondary set of problems like undiagnosed/untreated diabetes or something else.
right, right. Certainly could have been taking something that was artificially suppressing tsh. If that's not the case, then there is certainly a secondary condition with one of the hormones produced by the pituitary, such as cortisol. I guess what blows my mind is that the doc could read the numbers, take one look at him, and NOT think there is a secondary problem and just go right to killing his thyroid, lol. That's not how you treat someone.
I will let them do further test but nothing drastic until I understand every thing No diabetis though
If I take something to lower cortisol would that help?
Is there any health risks to the levels as they are now
You mention cortisol levels. What does that do?
You guys are pretty smart. I did look up the connection between thyroid function and cortisol levels. I have more to study.
Wow. This thread keeps getting better, thanks for sharing some great info.
Question(sorry if it was asked) any thoughts on PES shift (3,3), anyone with a "true" problem thinking about trying it, any body think it will make a diff.

They did not check my E and T levels this time. Bloodwork getting redone in Aug though
I'm glad to hear everything is working out well for you, man. It sounds like you found a good doc. Definitely keep us updated, and if you don't mind, ask him if he has any colleagues he'd recommend in the Louisville, KY area (doubtful, but worth me asking you lol).
I am from Elizabethtown KY about 40 miles s of LouisvilleBump for updated links on Wilson's Syndrome/RT3 dominance on Page 1
These numbers reflect ceasing T4 (Synthroid) in the last week of June and starting T3 on July 1 (25mcg on Day 1, 50mcg from Days 2-7, 75mcg from Days 8-10, 100mcg starting July 11th).
Thanks for posting the update. So where do you go from here? Will you stay on T3 alone or will you add some T4 back in? Ultimately, it is how you feel that is most important. I'm hoping your hypo symptoms have diminished or disappeared altogether.
I find myself very hopeful that as I personally regain more normal thyroid levels I will see some benefits in terms of body composition/muscle gain/strength etc. I would love to hear if you have noticed any difference in the gym or in any of these areas since you've been on the T3.
This is prolly a stupid question but what is sub'd.Gonna be a great thread - sub'd![]()

Okay now seriously! This is a great thread, it's right up my ally, I can totally relate. It's like pulling teeth to keep the weight off because of hypothyroidism. I've been doing research on the topic myself and a lot of experienced guys on here are telling me to do the Alpha-T2/Erase stack. I've ordered both and I can't wait to see the results. I'm obviously going to decrease my calories and increase my cardio. I'll put up a before and after when I'm done.
Did you post something and it not show up?
What is OEP?I've ran alpha t2 with good results. I stacked it with OEP. Let us know how it goes for you man

Most Recommended Hypothyroid Diet
Iodine - this is a very important mineral that is needed by the thyroid glands. It is what makes it produce all the hormones. It helps stimulate the activity inside the gland. Hypothyroid patients are ones who do not eat enough foods that are rich with iodine. That is why during their first diagnosis, high amounts of iodine foods are recommended. We can get this from foods like seaweeds, salt water fishes, and tuna. All the foods we can get from the sea have good amounts of this mineral. You can eat them as an alternative to other meat products like pork.

Had my second appointment two days ago with my alternative doctor. When I left he wanted me to stay at 25mcg T4 and 1 1/2 grains of dessicated thyroid. They also took blood to run a thyroid panel. Just got the results today: TSH 0.32, (It was 69 two months ago) T4 Free - 1.6 (High normal range), and T3 Free - 4.7 (upper range limit is 4.2 so I am high). The doc is dropping me to 1 grain of the dessicated thyroid based on these tests results. I am very pleased that my numbers have come in line so quickly.
well I will add my story. I have always struggled with weight. I was about 215 at around 10-12% bf. With no change in diet or training I began putting on weight relatively fast. Woke up in the middle of the night with a pulse rate of 252 beats a minute, in a fib(irregular heart rythm), spent 4 days in icu. Doc said nothing wrong after every test they could throw at me and on 5th day heart went back into rythm and slowed down. still put on weight and a year later woke with same heart thing, spent a week in the hospital and nothing found again. Heart doc looked for thyroid problem both times cause he said it can cause this. A few more months went by and I could no longer train due to fatigue and after researching I thought I had genetic disorder, hemachromatosis. Doc began testing and ruled that out but finally saw thyroid was acting up and started me on 50mcg levothyroxine.
This is the part everyone should listen to if you are facing this disorder. Find a doc that is knowledgable and will listen to you and is not stuck on treating just tsh. Next, do not use anything other synthroid if you need t4 meds. DO NOT USE GENERIC. Many may disagree with this but my wife is a pharmacist and says it is no good. Name brand meds are required to keep a much tighter control than generic, and when you deal in thousands of a miligram, you need it exact.
My doc was not very eager to really do much and three years went by on 50 mcg and I continued to gain 5-10lbs a year while training and dieting like an animal. I got him to put me on compounded thyroid(like armor thyroid) although my wife was opposed to it cause she says they can not compound that accurately. If a pharmacist tells you that, LISTEN. And still no change and weight continued. Then my doc died.
I just saw a new doc friday, and he is amazing. He saw my labs and informed me I have to been properly treated all this time. My tsh never went below 3.7 and my old doc said that was good. New doc pulled bloods and started me on 150mcg, and I feel amazing in just 3 days. Labs should be back soon and we are going to meet again. He wants to do more blood to check test and est, he is very proactive and a big fan of trt. Anyways I will keep everyone posted. Even my new doc said he will not right a script for anything other than name brand med when it comes to thyroid med because he feels there is too much room for error
I know exactly what you mean. I train like a beast and get mouse size results. But hopefully this will change things soon. That's an amazing story, man.
It sucks that you've gone through all of the years of negatives and a doctor that lived in the "in range" world, but I'm glad to hear you're getting it resolved. I hope you'll definitely update us so we can hear how your progress goes. I know for me, it sucks to watch people barely try and have amazing success when we bust our backs harder than anyone else to make little to no progress.
I'm pulling for you.
