The New Product Release Thread

It looks like the Xtend vs Powerade study is up:

Going through the diet I was thinking it looks very much like Chuck Rudolf's diet and sure enough it was his.

So Xtend group did not lose muscle. Both groups gained strength. They were cutting.

This paragraphs shows what happens when you diet with no refeed for 8 weeks:

Finally, the BCAA group decreased RMR (−412 ± 67 kcal/day; p < 0.05) from pre to post observation, however this change was not different than the CHO group, who exhibited no change in RMR.

So metabolism went down significantly in Xtend group but not significantly compared to carb group where it must have gone down insignificantly as they claim it did not change. Interesting

Lol same issue here,
Though for a while we had reps around that could hook is up from TO I'm not sure anymore how best to order anymore.

Odd being in Canada and still ordering it internationally,
That being said I'm not spending money on a protein marketed as a weight loss aid as this one is. (Just personal preference, and probably going to be pricier per g protein)

Yah BB.com doesn't have any warehouses in Canada and your at the mercy of only one warehouse. I agree on the weigh loss protein part, plus i've got a ton already. The only way this protein might be beneficial is pre-contest prep, and that's about it. Personally if I want a weight loss product ill go buy one, with proper dosages etc.

Seems like the cliffs:

The BCAA group lost fat mass (−0.05 ± 0.08 kg;p < .05) and maintained lean mass, while the CHO group lost lean mass (−0.90 ± 0.06 kg; p < .05) and body mass (−2.3 ± 0.7 kg; p < .05). Both groups increased 1RM squat, but the increase in the BCAA group (15.1 ± 2.2 kg; p < .05)was greater (P < 0.05) than the CHO group. The BCAA group increased 1RM bench press (7.1 ± 1.6 kg; P < 0.05), while the CHO group decreased strength (−3.7 ± 2.3 kg; P < 0.05). The only change in muscular endurance was an increase in repetitions to fatigue (5.3 ± 0.2; p < .05) in the CHO group.

Studied Group:
Seventeen males (between the ages of 21 and 28) who self-reported as resistance trained (defined as consistent whole body resistance training for at least 2 years prior to the onset of the study) volunteered for the study.

Dietary Features:
The caloric-restricted diet was designed as an 8 week “cut diet” for reducing body fat, and used a modified carbohydrate-restricted diet approach (percent of total calories for workout days were 30 % carbohydrates, 35 % protein and 35 % fat and for off days were 25 % carbohydrates, 40 % protein and 35 % fat)

Supp Protocol:
Each participant was randomly assigned to either the BCAA supplement group (BCAA; 14 g of a BCAA nutritional supplement containing seven grams of BCAA prior to and following each workout for a total of 14 g of BCAA in 28 g BCAA commercial product) or the carbohydrate nutritional supplement (CHO; 14 g of a carbohydrate based nutritional supplement (POWERADE ®) prior to and following each workout, for a total of 28 g).

Conclusion:
However, our data suggest that under hypocaloric conditions, those who participate in heavy resistance training can maintain lean mass and muscular performance by utilizing a BCAA product pre and post workout. Further, while this protocol resulted in a loss of lean mass in the CHO group, the improvement in lower body strength and repetitions to fatigue suggest that minimal CHO supplementation on a cut diet may help to maintain some performance measures.

Looking forward to new Quest C&C protein powder myself. Apparently it's even thicker than the other flavors and loaded with cookie crumbs. Let's do this.

So ANS is Canadian from the last time I check, yet have never once seen them in any store up here. Anyone seen them up here? I've boughten ANS products before and were pleased with the outcome. Flavouring seems on point from what i've tasted. I thought it was funny at first seems like the only way to get them was through BB.com. (US). Buy Canadian from US lol.

Update: Just checked and the spinach man (popeyes)seems to carry ANS now FYI.

Healthy Planet carries Ritual and a few of their other product. I've also seen their line in a random pharmacy of all places, but I think the owner knows the ANS guys that is why.

Ok if it tastes anything like the bar, I'm in.....all the way in.

Over 8 weeks the xtend group gained 4lbs of muscle and lost 2lbs of fat. There was a protein group not mentioned in this study for stupid statistical reasons journals make up. We released that as a 2nd study: Invalid Link Removed

The protein group, which took over 50g of protein, gained 2lbs of muscle and lost a pound of fat. The carb group lost no fat and gained a 1/2lb or so of muscle. These people were taking in decently high levels of protein.

BCAA's have always been about dose. Competitors underdose their product and that's why they don't work.

How many grams of carbs vs grams of bcaas? Isocaloric? Intrigued good sir

This is the current xtend formula. Xtend free just has no artificals. The new version of Xtend is a 44 serve and comes out in feb

The original Xtend with Watermelon and Blue Rasp flavoring was amazing. Once they changed it the new versions were pretty bad a lot of people switched brands. Would love that original watermelon again!

This was said 2 pages back

The original was horrible lol. We took out more than 1/4lb of flavoring. Think about that. That's back in the day when we didn't really know what we were doing when it came to flavoring. We'll have a limited edition series coming end of summer a lot of you guys will like.

This thread has become a commercial for Xtend now.

Oops. Continue your extend banter.

While in gatlinburg stopped by a popcorn store and picked up a few bags of heaven. Cookies and cream caramel corn. Fresh made caramel corn with crumbled Oreos and white chocolate drizzle. You talk about wow.

I think you took a wrong turn. Pretty sure this was meant for the food porn thread?

Ha. Yea. I was just on that thread. Lol. Must've changed and forgot. Lol

How about this, everyone that has commented since it turned into an Xtend thread will get a free bottle of my joint product when it comes out in 6 weeks? Didn't mean for it to turn into that type of thread.

As far as our flavors becoming worse, my worst selling flavor now (we make a dozen) sells better than our best selling flavor did before the change. Making a flavor that works for everyone is impossible. People that constantly consume high level of artificials liked the old flavors. The bad part, it alienated every other consumer. Especially those over 30, when your taste buds really start to change.
