thoughts
wow, that's all i can say right now is wow. that my friends, was an experience. after i got into the shirt, i had big clay take a look and adjust it, so now i know what it's supposed to feel like. after that, i asked marc, the filipino dude and tony, who benches 500 to keep an eye on me so i didn't kill myself. i honestly don't remember the first couple w 315, guys were adjusting the velcro in the back, pulling down the shirt and putting my belt on, it was happening pretty fast. got under it and had my pinky on the ring, which was a mistake. it came down easy enough, but my god that shirt puts a hurtin on you.
that became more evident when we tossed 350 on it, that's when i started to notice the pain. i'm gonna have a few bruises tomorrow i'm sure. we widened my grip on these and it helped. i rushed the first one and lost tightness in my back and had to fight it to a 4 board. slowed down on the second and it was a little smoother, but hurt like fck. 365 to the 4 board i think was my best one. to the 3 board it was an exercise in pain tolerance and the bar won, couldn't get it down. i also thought my right wrist was going to break on the last one, no wrist wraps, i know...stupid. i'm going to check efs out in a couple minutes. these are going to be a must.
my shoulders are going to be wrecked tomorrow. i need to figure out a set/rep scheme that is low volume but accomplishes what it's supposed to. i haven't stuck to my 531, i'm just doing what those guys are. oh yeah, i have bruises on both my palms from the quad mini pulls the other day.
for a guy who prolly could bench 275 right now, and has never had >305 in his hands (20 yrs ago), today was a trip...
