The Arachidonic Acid Help Guide

I'm running x-gels + epi plex right now and having pretty good results. Haven't noticed any diminished effects of ArA yet. Decent pumps and fullness all day and insane pumps in the gym. Would like to run epi for a full 60 maybe even 90 days but my supp budget is about spent for a while.

How long have you been on that stack?

Unsure of the actual amount of time. I had a little over 3 bottles of ArA and I'm into the second one, so not that long. Started the epi plex at the end of the first full bottle of ArA.

I just told him to take it

I guess its his call.
A lot of the studies show benefit to saturated ARA levels overall so I would still take it the strait 50 days, I'm still growing on off days,

I know a lot of guys are more on it for the acute pre effects, so they go 50 workouts instead

I forgot to take mine before my workout... Can I take it with food when I get home or just skip it?

I dont know if taking it with food is a good idea, considering what its fate is likely to be, but after a workout is still all good IMO. Just wait to eat

Yea that's what I was thinking but I'm too hungry and want to get this rice into my biceps sooo that's that

Hey, does the xgel, ara, HCA, stack F with sex drive?!?! I'm married but usually take care of business once a day on my own. I haven had desire in frigging days!!!!

Neither of the two should have any negative impact on hormones and/or libido.

Has your diet fat intake changed/dropped much?

Definitely consider outside sources - if you are stressed, tired or literally 100 other things, it may affect your ability to perform. It'll come right

Ok, it is considered novel food in Europe, that is why it is so complicated to get it. Mystery solved

Interesting. Its hard to find anyway not in supplement form haha

There used to be bulk suppliers which sold it last year. And I can't find X-Gels at any of the known stores (all of them are out of stock :(

If its bulk, just be mindful it might be a 5% concentration if ARA, so you have to dose it pretty darn high to get the studied dosages

Just began taking XGels. Should I follow the bottle and take them everyday, or just on my workout days (5 days per week)? Do you guys think taking them only on WO days will produce the same results?

workout days only unless you workout less than 3-4 days/wk

I am a week into taking Xgels (first time) and already experiencing mild DOMS. I feel like I am not recovering like normal. Kind of backwards, I normally take supps that help with recovery soreness, not revers it, LOL.

Based on everyone's feedback on this form, this stuff yields some good results around week 3. Ill keep you guys posted on the progress (and the pain).

Yeah it's weird at first because (for me at least) I felt like it was hindering dem recovery gainz and setting me back. But I took an extra day of rest in the beginning when I felt I needed it. It got way better and I'm able to recover faster but it doesn't hurt to autoregulate if you're feeling real chitty.

I think he was saying that he's not used to being "supposed to" feel doms... As in that's the moa of ara that it causes extra inflammation and muscle damage to induce growth. It's not really a recovery thing but just that there was more damage than normal and thus doms that weren't there otherwise

Yup, definitely more damage then normal. I can normally get in a killer workout, and feel a good mild ache the next day. On ara, I feel like an achy old man, getting woken up in the middle of the night with sore muscles. If this doesn't subside, I am not sure I can run 2 bottles of this stuff.

Does it get better, worse, or do you just deal with it? Also, is there anything you guys have done that helps curve it?

What supplements shouldn't be take with ArA?

I know fish oil, cissus and any anti inflammatory should be taken 4-6 hrs away from the ArA.

I ask this because, I'm starting to take combustion which has (higenamine, alstonia scholaris, caffeine, B-Pea, Morus Alba and forskolin)

Or should I just hold the ArA off until I'm not in a deficit.

Depends on the person. I don't get any extra doms for instance.

If you absolutely need it, you could take something type of anti inflammatory but just make sure to dose it as far from your ara as possible.

What would be the ideal dosing if working out 3-4 times a week?

If 4x a week, you can prob get away with workout days only and maybe a slightly higher dose (1.5-2g) but if you're obl at 3 I would dose it 1-2 non workout days, fasted and away from a meal if possible. If you're even doing cardio or something around that would be ideal.

I personally love ara in a deficit so I'd say go for it. Forskolin is synergystic so that'll actually help.

As far as other stuff, you pretty much covered it. Only other thing is ideally no -epi as it's mildly anti inflammatory.

Or dose the -epi away from the ArA.

I actually have run ArA and -epi together 2-3 times and didn't notice any negatives.

Final update, ArA is not for me. I know this product treats each person differently; it just didn’t work out for me. I took it just under two weeks. I am sure if I only lifted, I could have powered through the inflammation, but since I do sports that require my full body it didn’t pan out so well. Last night’s ride was the catalyst for me to stop.

I have been riding MTB for a LONG time, and my legs almost never burn. Anytime I hit a hill of any size it felt like my legs were on fire! I had to slow down, regroup, and peddle again. If you are a sports person (more than lifting), I am not sure if this would be the best product for you. However, take that with a grain of salt, everyone’s body reacts differently. Other guys on this site have taken the same product for years and not reported the same reaction, this is just my personal experience.

Now it’s time to figure out what to do with the other 60+ caps :/

This seems a bit odd as typically the results of ara aren't felt within the first two weeks, especially not to any extreme degree... That said im sure it's possible.

However, what you are describing is not typically an effect of ara either. You're talking about lactic acid buildup and fatigue which ara has zero influence on. The only things that ara should make you fee are doms (after the fact as its pain from damage incurred during the workout) and pumps (which could be what you are confusing for "pain"). I'm not sure if what you're experiencing can be correlated to the ara.

Have you changed anything else or gotten more intense with your training or schedule?

Hey bro, thanks for the feedback. I ran on Tuesday, and rode of Thursday. I was already experiencing doms from the run, which I think may have contributed toward the LA burn. I know my body very well, and LA burn never affects me (15 years’ worth of riding). I have kept my diet identical. I know it seems a little odd, but I am only expressing my personal experience. I am def not downing the product, it seems many people have benefited from it; I guess I am the exception to the norm.

Honestly, its not a knock on the product, it just seems that you are using it in a situation that it doesnt fit. If you need to be able to recover exceptionally fast in order to perform in rapid succession, then its not the right choice since it stimulates muscle damage. For endurance sport(s) it's not the right choice for sure.

I would have to agree with that, I didn't realize this when I first purchased it.

I thought the point of endurance training is to get that runner high on the pain? I believe ArA to be great for endurance. Endurance training usually is adaptable and sustainable for some time, but it can take up some time. So increasing some variable(speed, weight, supplementation) to make it more challenging would make sense to get better and close gaps in goals. It would give some crazy pumps and doms in the beginning for some but in the end you would see better performance. I've looked through some studies, but it has been sometime so I'd have to look for them again on this subject.

I thought the point of running was to post your Fitbit information on Facebook and to show pictures of your participation in organized running events so people know you run

Being it was under 2 weeks you supplemented with Arachidonic Acid, I imagine it was not even fully saturated. That being said, ArA certainly could have played a role in what you were feeling/experiencing due to increased localized inflammation.

How many days per week were you dosing and at what dose?

What about doing a non-traditional approach to dosing for those who suffer from extreme inflammation and a longer cycle. so instead of 50 days straight dosing, maybe do it once every 3rd day? has this been performed by anybody?
