The Arachidonic Acid Help Guide

Hey guys,

I've been dealing with an on again/off again shoulder issue and I was planning on starting a cycle of ArA soon.
Is there a dosing scheme I can utilize that would potentially minimize the chance of ArA aggravating this issue?
Noting that effectiveness may also be reduced.

For example, dosing the ArA after a workout or splitting the dose?
Something along those lines to reduce the acute inflammation while I'm lifting.

Thanks

hey guys,
I'm pretty new on the board,
this is my first post!!
haha
the board it's full of precious suggestions by experts on the supplements!!
i would like to start take ArA and i know is best prewo 4to6 pills,
the question is can i take it with a hydrolyzed whey drink with ArA 30 to 45 mins prewo??
thank u!!

i know its better to take ArA on empty stomach for better assimilation but hydrolyzed whey theoriccally digest very fast so it shouldn't be an issue.
just to know the experts point of view.
thanks again.

I haven't seen a specific dosing regime for anyone like this. People in your situation typically get told ArA isn't for them. If I were you I'd trying running 1 gram pre-wo only, if it bothers you, stop the ArA or experiment for yourself

Even if it comes down to it and the ArA isn't for you there are so many other great products out there (Follidrone, ABE, etc)

Start with 4, up to 6 if you feel the need to. (6 is the sweet spot for many, but you may respond just as well w/ 4)

ArA is reccomended to take on an empty stomach. Take your shake atleast an hour prior to your ArA dose or save it for after

There is a few things you can do to minimise the chance of aggrevation:

1) start at 500-750mg pre workout only and gauge from there after a week or so. You can then bump it up to 1g and reassess.

2) start at 1g but run a joint help product (Cissus XT, Joint help, Joint force to name a few). Dose 4+ hours away from Ara.

thanks bro,
its because it will not go in the skeletal muscle and risk to be waste and store in as fats??
thank u!!

This is why. Whey is insulinogenic (promotes the secretion of insulin) and so it may cause the Ara to be directed to adipose. You could use the whey closer to your workout or dose the Ara intra (after a warmup) instead.

No reason to drop the whey altogether

Similarly, dose ara 45 mins prior to workout and then dose bcaa immediately pre workout ?

Yeah, absolutely. I know exercise blunts insulin secretion, but i'm not quite so sure as to how this increase in insulin pre-exercise would affect where the Ara is shuttled. Coop says it is fine so I trust that, so I guess the rise would soon be mediated by exercise.

Basically, it is fine lol

This is my 8th week (2 left) and already started with some elbow discomfort….have been doing weighted dips, OHP and bench press like crazy…so if I take ANIMAL FLEX 8 HOURS apart from xgels I'm in the YEAH YEAH side right?

hahaha funny…damnnn shouldn't have asked =p

what about the ANIMAL flex q?? hope I get only a YES or NO =p

It's actually not a bad Q; I was just being smart lol. The reason why we suggest to avoid n3's is because they compete for metabolism with n6's.

n3's work to decrease the inflammation response of AA in 3 ways: Decreasing tissue concentrations of Ara (displacement), lowering the output of Ara (competitive inhibition) and through counter action (which is when one action grossly counteracts the action we want from Ara use).

In short, this is why n3's are directed to be taken as far away from AA supplementation as possible as they work to negate the effects of Ara supplementation is 3 separate ways.

Thank u very much Jiigzz!!
i'll go with the ArA and follow your posology!!
I can't wait!!
haha

No problem! Feel free to PM me if you have any further questions

Jiigzz, I had one more random ArA question: I do Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and try to end training with a couple 3-5 minute rounds of hard rolling. This is strenuous in terms of anaerobic and isometric work, but it's definitely not the same kind of workout as lifting. Would taking ArA before BJJ training still be helpful? If it's relevant, I've done daily BJJ and no lifting for about a month at a time once in a while, and during those times I observe (very modest) strength increases but certainly no hypertrophy.

Thanks!

--ACJ

(And to any BJJ folks: I'm not very good. If I were, rolling would be much less of a workout. Someday...)

Personally I think you may benefit more from something like COP, Amentomax or from a product geared toward focus like Focus XT or something.

Ara is geared mostly for strength and hypertrophy moreso than ground work IMO. Alot of what you do requires concentration to work your way in and out of many holds.

Yes strength is needed to overpower as well, but I feel as though you would benefit from something else for this

Thanks Jiigzz! I'll save the ArA for moving up a weight-class :)I'll steer clear of the Amentomax out of hepatic caution (no foreseeable lamotrigine problems, but my doctor gave me some alprazolam for occasional insomnia, so I want to keep my CYP450-3A4 in good working order), but I'll definitely use some Focus XT and check out COP. BTW, I couldn't resist the temptation, and I've been using ArA (+ALCAR +GMS) for the last three days; while it's too soon to meaningfully measure size/strength gains, the pumps are just insane! Very excited to see the results after 50 ArA-powered workouts...--ACJ

-How much should you expect to gain from a cycle of Ara.
- is a high volume training routine recommended, like phat.
-can I pre dose with hemovol.

- ill come up with more question. I ordered a bottle yesterday.

- also I have psoriasis-- going to 2 pill for the first week then 4 following if all is well

Depends on the user. Usually 5-7 lbs I would say.

Any training style works with ArA.

Hemavol + ArA is gonna make for some epic pumps!

Hey guys need more of your help. I used up first bottle of C20 (new version) and have a new bottle of old version. Don't ask, not real happy!! The old version does have the symplocos racemosa. Will the old version be effective? Thanks, again not real happy. I will fill you in completely, if the issue is not resolved in an appropriate manner!!

Effective in what sense? In the sense of inhibiting ArA being broken down into luekotrienes, yes.

It still includes the ingredient need (lodhra bark aka sym racemosa). But I've not used the old version so I don't know how effective it'd be outside of that

Actually, the old version is bada$$. However, I wanted it to contribute to my Ara cycle as suggested in this thread. As a stand alone, or stacked with something else, I do like the old version. Just real unhappy how I ended up with it.

For example if I take an NSAID 12 hours after my ARA intake on monday, then tuesday is my rest day and I take an NSAID again and my last intake is 8 hours before my ARA dosing am I ok?

I was feeling like **** yesterday, sore throat and a strong headache, right now feeling better and still have xgels for 5 training sessions...

thanks!

If the Ara is causing a few headaches, try dropping the dose for a few days then build back up.

NSAIDs should be avoided where possible but if you use them, don't worry to much about it :)

no, I'm sick, this is my second bottle of xgel I'm about to finish…thanks!

I can't recall if this was asked.. Using the new erase with x gels? Will there be too much anti inflammatory action with the erase?

Erase is anti inflammatory? I havent looked at the new ingredients in any detail

I personally wouldn't worry about stacking Erase Pro with X-Gels. Does Coop mention in his wrote up that Erase Pro is anti-inflammatory?

I have seen multiple people report being "sick" during their Ara cycle. Is this the Ara causing an increase in allergy, head cold, type symptoms? Does this indicate we may not be achieving the results we want bc we aren't doing something correctly? Smart guys please chime in, in English please.

I thought it might have just been a coincidence :/

Well, in my case, last week was so stressful , no sleep during the weekend (I'm a wedding photographer) so…lack of sleep, work, stress…was the reason for me for feeling seek…nothing that some tylenol can help with...

Some times, don't know if its a coincidence , but I felt a little bit depressed…but around workouts always feeling good.

Wow the pricing on this looks much better. Always wanted to try out ARA and it seems like now I can.

SNS to the rescue again :)

X-Factor is actually less expensive than gels on NutraPlanet and elsewhere (it is also the original, and the formula subjected to multiple human clinical studies).

The site that I order from it is $10 more and on nutra the 60 cap is $2 less than the 100 caps of SNS :/

Definitely give it a try! We have xgels for sale for 34.99 if look :)

IT IS THE SAME FORMULA.

Yes, thank you for scientifically validating Ara but to make X factor appear 'better' than Xgels due to this is false. Your validation carrys across to all Ara products.

It is also underhanded to try pull customers to your product in the way you do.

Had no idea brother. Its only a real issue if it interferes with cox 2 ( like an NSAID) or if it interferes with Ara metabolism (fish oil and other n3).

Not to mention he knows for a fact that SNS and MN both source their ArA from the exact same place.

Hey,

I am going on my first ArA cycle in about a week's time and I have a few final questions so I can get myself sorted.

(1) I'm currently in the middle of the 12 week DS stack (TZ/AX/subbing Reduce XT for LX) so I will be running the ArA for the final six weeks (or a bit more depending on how I end up dosing). Anyone see any issues with this? Specifically re joint pain. I didn't suffer much in the first six weeks but I have been taking a joint support with Glucosamine, Chondroitin and MSM along with fish oil. I understand to ditch the fish oil, is the joint support stuff still okay? I note there's no cissus which I also understand to avoid.

(2) Before I found this thread and the other on BB.com, I couldn't find definitive info on whether OG XF or XFA was better so I bought two bottles of each with the plan of taking two of each to make up my four caps per day and in theory get best of both worlds. Is this a good idea or should I just run say the OG XF and put the XFA away for another cycle?

(2) I'm not really familiar with GlycerGrow but have some on order. I usually take a scoop of Hemavol which contains 1gm GMS. Should I just ditch the Hemavol and just use the 6g GMS from GlycerGrow? I really love Hemavol but I don't want to waste my cash if it's not going to add anything to what I'm already getting from the GG.

(3) In terms of dosing, I was going to take four caps every day for the first 10-14 days, to "saturate" and then go to 6 caps on lifting days only after that. Is the saturation thing bunk? I lift four days a week and have an abs day, still worthwhile taking on abs day?

(4) I do fasted cardio usually five days a week.

(a) Should I cut out cardio for a bit to maximise gains?
(b) If not, on lifting days where i plan to take six caps would I do 2 caps before fasted cardio and four caps before lifting or just do all six caps before lifting?

(5) No problems gulping these down with my PWO drink (1 scoop Xtend, 1 scoop DEFCON1) half an hour before lifting or should I split out the timing a little?

Just so you know, your numbering for your questions went funny (you listed 2 twice) so I've re numbered them in the quote and answered accordingly. Just in case people reading get confused as to what i'm answering.

1) Joint issues are user-dependent with Ara, If you have pre-existing issues then Ara MAY aggravate the issues but it also may not. You can continue your joint supplements but use them as far away from Ara as you can (4+ hours).

2) I would run XFA first, then OG XF and not combine the two. I posted here about why it is best to avoid fish oil:

It's actually not a bad Q; I was just being smart lol. The reason why we suggest to avoid n3's is because they compete for metabolism with n6's.

n3's work to decrease the inflammation response of AA in 3 ways: Decreasing tissue concentrations of Ara (displacement), lowering the output of Ara (competitive inhibition) and through counter action (which is when one action grossly counteracts the action we want from Ara use).

In short, this is why n3's are directed to be taken as far away from AA supplementation as possible as they work to negate the effects of Ara supplementation is 3 separate ways.

Because omega 3s (n3) decrease the inflammation response in 3 separate ways; I would much rather see people avoid taking fish oil with Ara where possible. So you may as well run the XFA solo and the XF solo so as to not limit the potential of both runs. Just make sure you have time off between cycles where you can re-introduce n3.

3) The GMS content in Hemavol won't do much for emulsifying the Ara, but if you enjoy it as a pre-workout, then you can continue to take it. Alternatively, you can buy bulk GMS through AS and continue Hemavol. If you have Glycergrow on hand, just use that instead.

4) Don't worry about saturation. In my OP I state why but i'll simplify it here. Ara is best taken pre-training as the exercise stimulus will shuttle it to skeletal muscle and away from adipose tissue. When taken at other times (unless fasted); it won't end up where you want it. As it also enhances the anabolic response to exercise, there's no reason to take it at other times as on off days, there's no response to amplify. I wouldn't add it in on ab day buts that's just me.

5)
a) Up to you entirely. Don't let a supplement change your training, let it compliment your training.
b) All caps pre-lifting.

6) I would dose Ara with water 45 minutes pre then Xtend with Defcon 1 closer to my workout (maybe 15 minutes pre).

Awesome, thanks very much for the response - I think everything covered now. Really looking forward to this.

Have had great results from the DS stack so I'm expecting this should be a great six weeks.

EDIT: Sorry, one last clarification:

6) I would dose Ara with water 45 minutes pre then Xtend with Defcon 1 closer to my workout (maybe 15 minutes pre).

Would I take the GMS and LCLT with the ARA or mix it in with my PWO drink?
