Test Results

OK - I'm a 40 yr old male, 6'1" and 240 lbs.

Went to my doc a couple weeks back and let him know some of the issues I have been having. Lack of energy, endurance, sex drive, etc. I know that most of those symptoms are supposedly a part of getting older, but just because I'm 40 doesn't mean I want to slow down or suffer performance wise.

So - he had labwork done.

Test - 338 (250-1100 ng/dL)
Test - Free % - 2.61 (1.5 - 2.2%)
Test Free & Total, (LC/MS/MS) - 89.2 (35-155 pg/mL)

I picked up results from lab - will see the Dr. later in the week. I'm expecting him to say that is normal. What alternate courses aside from TRT should I hope that he'll pursue? I know that TRT probably isn't needed, because while 338 is on the low end, its not catastrophic.

I've read alot of threads here and at other boards - but I'd like some opinions on this from you guys. Thanks.

Oh - all the other bloodwork was normal, cholesterol was really good too. My diet isn't bad, but I gain weight WAY too easily.

You're free test is so high I really don't see how he could prescribe TRT. Maybe he will give you some vialgra? :) (Just joking on the latter, not sure really)

Please have the thyroid and adrenals properly evaluated by a trained physcian because testosterone is only one piece of the puzzle. In my experience alot of people fall through the cracks and 20 years later end up with dementia and also osteomalcia from lack of proper hormones. Not a pretty sight.. New report just released is that obessity is the highest it has even been in the united states. You can thank technology and computers for people sittting on their ass all day for that one.

LOL - yeah, I think my main concern is the lack of endurance, stamina and easy weight gain. Losing weight is a freaking chore.....and I don't have the energy for all the cardio. My only vice food wise is beer, which is anywhere from 2-8 a week. Not severe.

I've never run a cycle or used any t-boosters. I have strong bones, etc. Never a bone break except my nose in a fight.

I'll mention the thyroid thing, I guess I should pay attention to that because I seen the other thread talking about body temp, and mine is rarely above 97.3

Thanks.

Normal does not = healthy remember that.
You need to post all blood results in order for us to get a better over all pictures. With high free T then I would expect an altered e2/t ratio and possible insulin imbalances as well despite lipid profiles. when a Dr tells or i hear patient saying every thing else is great I need to see if for my own eyes. My dr told me my cholesterol was best he have seen ..Yeah total cholesterol was 90 ....Thats great ...NOT. One needs to take in factors as genetics to the equation as well. Free and Total testosterone does not = total bio T which is what one needs to look at not just these 2..

36.30C= 97.34F
36.25C= 97.25F

I do not know what your weight mean.
If you are not fitting into 34 size pant, you are fat.

Do not even waste time on cholesterol, glucose, insuline testing.
But do those testing after you put in 34 size pants and zip it in easily.
In the mean time drop from your diet any
wheat
potatos
rice
sugar
hig-fructose
anything high GI
----------------------------

Your low temperature may be a reason for a weight gain (and other problems)----thyroid.

Attempting to fix thyroid bring attention to adrenals.
--------------------------------------------------------------

When testing testosterone (and E2), type of tests is very important.
There is a lots of useless tests.
Out of the three numbers that you posted only TotalTestosterone is worth looking at.
The other two numbers are worst than useless, they are reasons for confussion and arguments.

Test - 338 (250-1100 ng/dL)

Off hand that is wery low number.

This number alone tells you nothing about how to help you.
There is number of approaches depending on your othere tests (that you have not done).

If you have insurance,
it would be much easier if you could get my whole list of tests.
You would then have pretty good idea which way to turn.

My list is on post #44, between blue lines, here:

http://anabolicminds.com/forum/male-anti-aging/66268-jans-bloodtest-april13-2.html

Best do those tests at Quest Diagnostics, blood drawn at Quest.

Just print all between blue lines and have your doc sign it, do not let him transpose that list into his own forms, will not work.
On blue prescription sheet doc can write, tests as per attachment.
