Alright, so I've been talking to this girl and I have been trying to convince her that I'm not a violent person (drawback to MMA). She is skeptical, but she's giving it a chance, which is all I can really ask for. Anywho, I went out drinking last night with 2 friends that are huge (1 is 290, the other is 250). We had a blast at the bars and then we went back to his apt. As we're getting out of the car, some drunk d-bag starts talking sh!t to one of my friends and go to try to break it up before anything happens. So, naturally, the retard turns to me and starts berating me. I was cool for a while, but then he decided to throw a punch at me...bad idea, bro. I ended armbarring the guy and opening a few cuts on his forehead. It was fun to beat the hell out of a drunken d-bag, but then I remembered the whole, "I'm not a violent person spiel." Yeah, shot myself in the foot. Luckily, she wasn't mad because I didn't throw the first punch, but I still managed to make an ass of myself.
 
I have had very similar problems with women.
You waited as long as you could, you did the right thing.
If she is a keeper, she will see this.

Yeah, well he saw and probably thought, "I'll take the small one." Little did he know. The best part was that his friends were like, "You don't want to do this." He wanted a one-on-one fight and he got it. Best part is that they gave us beer afterward; not sure if it was from respect or fear...

They were saying it to me. I was pissed because I had him in a triangle, but I slipped and lost position, which is when I pulled out the armbar.
 
I just don't understand how the dude couldn't tell by your physique that you weren't someone to mess with. Tards.

Hell, tell her to log on to AM sometime so she can see how much the guys here appreciate you. (Just don't let her see the posts where I call you scary/intimidating/psychopathic :))

She wasn't mad since I was basically defending myself (granted I know what I'm doing:twisted:).
 
I still love hearing these stories every time. Stupid drunks always thinking size is all that matters, youd think theyd learn something with how mainstream MMA is and the fact is that there are some 150lb guys out there that could knock the head off a set of 200lb shoulders in a blink of an eye.

A buddy of mine got into MMA last summer, and we were talking once about how it was working out for him.

He said "Dr, dont EVER go looking for a fight. You see people in my MMA class all the time around town that look like normal people. These people could kill you. From now on, when someone starts **** I'm backing up unless shots are thrown at me."

thats what im saying.... remember cole one of the kids on the ultimate fighter? not intimidating looking big goofy ears and he dominated most the guys he fought.... some really nerdy lookin guys out there are closet animals.

There was a dorky kid in my junior high that everyone picked on. I felt bad for the kid because he WAS such a doofus. I knew one thing about him that others took lightly, and that was the fact he was a 2nd degree black belt in Karate. He was basically Millhouse from the simpsons except he had red hair.

One day some kid decided to start **** with him, and it was blindingly fast how many times this kid got hit. It was over before it even started. I don't think anyone ever messed with him again after that, and people harassed the **** out of the kid that got a beat down.
 
I forgot to add that I really hate street fighting and that I do pretty much all I can to avoid these kinds of situations.
 
I get my ass kicked by tiny dorky looking asians in my muay thai class all the time lol. I dont start with ANYONE anymore.

I think the biggest issue with this personally is you never know whos gonna get there assed kicked then stand up walk to there car and pull a gun or just do it off the bat for that matter.... this is another reason why I try not to be in a confrontation period. Until I have hands flying at me Im walkin or talkin and nothing more, just safe.

Too true. There is a dude in my BJJ class that is such a baby-faced guy that's around 170 lbs, but he is a beast. He's a high level purple belt in BJJ, a 3rd-don in Judo, and has been wrestling for 20 years.
 
wen i went to my first bjj class i thought **** these little *****es im way stronga ill beat em up wow wat a rude surprise i got, i am much wiser now moral of tha story. its always tha little guys that **** u up
 
I think the real point is not whether you are violent but rather are you:

A) An Agressor and on the offensive looking for it

OR

B) Defensive and defend yourself and others when it is necessary

Violence is relative...I would make that clarification with her.
 
You were clearly within your right to lay the smack down. That was a self defense situation.

Once you hang out with this girl more, she'll realize how nice of a guy you are, and that you dont go around beating up on the elderly.

That situation is just bad timing IMO.

Definitely horrible timing. I think the fact that I went and had a few beers with him at his apt and then evaluated his arm says a loy as well. The dudes GF (I think) was confused; she kept checking to see if I was the one they he fought because I was telling him how to treat and rehab his arm.

hey man,... any ideas or tips for finding a good mma school in south florida.. i mean there are a ton of martial arts schools in the area, so finding one wont be a problem, just dont want to waste time/money at a crap school...
never fought before other than boxing a few times in HS for fun, but definitely something id be interested in doing on the side just for fun

fcfighter.com has a database of MMA schools. There may be an American Top Team affiliate near you, which I would highly recommend.

Looks like American Top Team is based in south florida... theres 5 locations within 30 minutes or closer to me. Thanks for the info... ill check them out in the next few weeks
 
im suprised he didnt bite you, when your arm is like that and you cant just tap out to make it stop, your in a pretty critical situation. im sure you wernt going to turn his arm inside out but he didnt know that. either way, good for you man.

What happened is that I locked up the arm, heard the pop, and then I swept him over and I was in mount. Plus, I think he was in shock of the whole situation, too.
 
Yeah, just look at Jet Li....teeny little dude, but watch out!
Yeah, fighting these days is just a bad idea. Too many guns, knives, etc. Can't stop a bullet. Sad reality of the times we live in. Used to be, a brawl was a brawl. You fought, went home. Now you might die. Screw that.
