Supplement for dad & mom

Hi All,

Basically my dad was diagnosed with colon cancer last February which was removed in March 2015. No chemo was done just prescribed drugs post surgery were given and he's scheduled for regular check-up's every 6 months. Last December due to having slight elevated BP he did a stress test which he passed with 92%. Also his latest blood tests were normal. The doc prescribed him a pill for the BP but what he told me is not really doing anything.

Obviously he will speak to his doc about it but in the meantime was thinking to give him Ep1c Unleashed for the overall health benefits. Same goes for my mom who is diabetic.

What do you guys think? Is there any other supp that he could use?

Thank you in advance for taking the timw to read this!

I would post this in the supplement section to try and get more feedback. Interesting question. I honestly can't see anything wrong with your suggestion. However, I would post this in the supplement section for sure.

I mean i have heard recently that epicatechin can help prevent cancer if im not miss spoken. I'm not sure what it can do if you're already diagnosed with it. I don't think it could heard supplement an epicatechin product in there though. There are a lot of on cycle products that I would assume be good to take for overall health and lowering BP levels.

ummm, no.

He has a diagnosed illness and is being treated by a physician.

Give him nothing.

I would recommend speaking to the doctor before any medication, but I would suggest two things that are staples in my own cabinet. 1.) CEL Cycle Assist and Nimbus Nutrition Cadence.

For the CEL I take 3 caps a day and 2 caps of Cadence.

The research on Cadence is incredible, and Cycle Assist has a bunch of well dosed ingredients for overall health.

How is his physical activity? Is he able to walk daily? This would be where I would start, getting them moving. Exercises effects on blood pressure are remarkable and manifest within a matter of months.

Couple that with BP medication and you have a very effective BP lowering protocol at minimal cost. Check with your cardiologist if vegetable nitrates (like beet roots) can also be used safely in conjunction with the BP medication.

Yeah actually he was told to walk even more, as he retired just over a year ago and kinda spending too much time on the couch . He used to go cycling in the past and walk the dogs.

Tomorrow we'll go see a physician for my mom and obviously ask questions for him as well.

Apart from the boredom that hit him with the retirement and last year's surgery which brought him down, I can say he's fine. Perhaps the medication needs changing but I'm thinking something natty could be of use to him.

This answer,
Only this answer.

This.

That said, quality multi-vitamin/mineral product and things like fish oil (EPA/DHA), coq10, and NaRALA all have health benefits and are good products.

But again, this isn't an advert to say these should be used to treat him.

sounds like you are falling victim to the naturalistic fallacy

why natural supplement over medication? There is no logical/reasonable purpose for this. Medication is typically more effective as treatment and almost always more reliable that was in on the label is in the bottle. We take supps here for fun reasons like to give us an edge in the weightroom, but when it comes to a clinical issue where professional treatment is necessary, medication > supplements 9 times out of 10

Encourage it. Hell if you have to then walk with him, or if he has a partner or wife, encourage them to do the same. The more people that get behind him, the better off he will be.

There are most certainly products that can have an impact, but you'll want to be sure they wont cause an issue with existing medication. While it isn't a supplement, beetroots can have an awesome impact on BP.

Get an exercise habit started first though, thatl help in more ways than you can imagine

Just to clarify, not looking to substitute his prescribed meds but something to take along with but this will be after consultation with the doc.

Yeah totally agree & that's what i'll do!

Yoga.

At any age Yoga should be part of everyone's regimen but as you get older Yoga is also wonderful for the body. I would honestly see if you can get him and your mother doing it as it will greatly improve quality of life

Great plan and some excellent suggestions here. As people get older and begin taking multiple therapies from multiple physicians, it sometimes does not take much at all to bump them into a dangerous area so I would be extremely cautious in recommending anything outside of what the physician is already prescribing.

And this is often looked down on by guys, but this **** is hard!

I was very humbled by hot yoga in the summer. I was so horrible and felt so imbalanced. It really changed my view on fitness and yoga in general.

Yep! I do not do enough Yoga but I try to do a hot yoga class every month, always makes me realize how much more I need to do it.
