Supplement for Carb Up

Just curious, but is there a supplement to help with carb ups pre-contest? I want to avoid bloat and was looking for something that gets digested fast and goes straight to glycogen storage. Maybe something like vitargo or glycemix?

Thanks
Chris

The problem is ive never worked with supplements like glycemix or virtago. I remember seeing an add for virtago saying that it doesnt cause bloat and saturates the muscles immediately. Does anybody have personal experience with these two?

can't say i've used vitargo or karbolyn or glycemyx , but have used waximaize, and used it during a carb-up phase before a show and prior to getting on stage. definitely noticed a difference and helped me get a great pump, and didn't leave me feeling bloated or anything. that and 1 pack of reese's about 30 mins before stepping on stage really helped finish filling me out. plus i know a number of guys who have kept a tub of waximaize with them backstage, used it, and didn't experience bloating or anything like that. but hey, everyone's different, i'd experiment and see if one carb source/type suits you better

Thanks for the info. Im 2 weeks out and tried a carb up today and realized that I couldnt really handle eating 400g of carbs. Ill look into waxymaize a little more!

Thanks

Waxy maize has been settling awesome for me this bulking season. Plan to use it, with a boatload of R-ala in my nedt contest prep! I think waxy maize and oatmeal will be my two carb sources.

nice! how much R-ala do you usually use with meals mike? and for the day of my show, should I consider changing the dosings on the r-ala depending on the amount of carbs im taking in?

In the other link posted above about the hem+chicken noodle, do you have a name for the chicken noodle? Is it a pack or can?

Maybe GlycemYx by DCP like you said in your first post.

Try Glycemyx which is vegetarian friendly, I usually use it in my postWO shake or add some protocol for added taste

I do believe it is Lipton Instant Chicken Noodle in a packet. With 2 cups of water.

Let me know how it goes. I just started the carb depleting phase and picked up some waxy maize for the carb up.

carb depleting ahh the energy levels =(

what show are you doing?

are you training at about 50 % of your normal weightand high reps 20 reps or so..this helps strip down glycogen to acheive the fuller harder combined with depleting and loading which totaly deplets glycogen stores, then you when you introduce all them carbs you look simply awesome ; provided your just about ripped.

personally Ive done this progress twice getting readying for two shows and have used glycobol before. I use about a 50-50 mix of fast acting carbs and slow acting the first day and slow burning the next two days

Im doin the grand prix on the 14th. I took the day off today and just did cardio this morning. Sunday - Tues = full body circuits (minus legs) 2 or 3 exercises, 5 sets each, 20-25 reps.
Carb intake = 0
Still training relatively hard ~ 75-80% to keep muscle firm.
Did a practice run a few weeks ago with pretty good results, granted the carb up was a single meal (pizza)

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ this and agmatine.

so true. the pumps from carbs + na-r-ala + Agmatine (in my case hemavol) are ridiculous, in my opinion at least lol

Look into karbolic from professional supplements. Top quality product. I use it during workouts. No bloating, mixes instantly. Awesome product.

A lot of those guys have excellent diet/training advice but are dated in their supplementation knowledge.

Thanks for the info. What would you suggest during the carb up. Agmatine- dosage?
Ill be taking in around 180g protein, 500g carbs, 30g fats and front loading carbs. I want to avoid bloat which happens to me eating thing like rice, etc.

1g proteinn per lb LBM (not BW). As few fats as possible, set a ceiling at 30-40g. Everything else from carbs.

Agmatine should be dosed at 1-1.5g when ingesting that many carbs.

You are going to fill out nice!!!

AI Sports Nutrition has some nice Agmatine as well. Ive been taking a gram before workouts

hopefully its been keeping via anti-inflammatory effect

I'd still be interested in seeing some study about that possible problem with fat loss and agmatine,
with it being antagonist for NDMA and agonist for alpha2
I know my experience with it was terrible..

Antagonism for the NMDA receptor would have no effect on fat loss.

Agonist for the a2 receptor is transient given that the CNS-effects of agmatine are primarily what persist past the 10 minute mark. Thus, the effects on fat loss would be non-existent. If you're dosing at something like 5g throughout the day consistently, then I'd recommend a cap or two of Alphaburn.
