So, I just finished a great day of shoulders, and have an awesome story. I don't know if it would qualify as douchery, but it was frakking funny at the time.

The following story takes place in a squat rack:

The whole time I was there, there were these 3 gangster twigs (~5' 11", 150?). They did their squats with 135, ok, whatever, they had alright form. They then proceeded to put on 315 for their last sets... I'm fairly certain their knees didn't bend... at all. They finished 1-2 "reps" with 315. Then they all cheered and high-fived and looked around to see who checked their awesome brute-ness.

I thought it was funny, but kept to myself.

When I went to leave, they all came back from getting water(it's a ways walk) and one of them put 225 on the flat bench. I was thinking, "Dang, maybe these guys have an OK bench, let's see". He then asks his buddies to spot him. They give him lift off, and then help him bring it back up, finishing his 1 rep(he went down MAYBE 1 inch :/). They all then applauded loudly and high-fived, yet again. I laughed so hard, I'm pretty sure I'm going to be shot soon.

Join the herd. That's right. Get right in there one of these days for an epic white-guy high-five session. See here:



Once you've infiltrated the herd, begin adding more weight to the bar. Gain their trust, and add little by little - by 50lb increments. Become trusted as a spotter, then work your way up to be the main spotter. Work to be the SOLO spotter. Work with them to elevate the position of spotter to that almost as high as the masterful work they are doing either in the cage or laying on the bench. Lifter - #1, Spotter - #1a. Then, load the bar, and spot. Why??? Keep this in mind...




Drop the bar on the li'l puke. Then, whip it out and pizz all over the poor crushed sap. Establish dominance in front of the pack, then yell loudly "WHO WANTS SUM?!?!?".

If they EVER come back to the gym, be prepared to stop your workout immediately. Walk to your locker or gym bag or wherever you keep your stuff, and grab out this:

If only I could give you more reps already... lol, that's awesome.

I'm going to try this master plan, I'm going to need more white guys though, I don't think they'll accept me if I come alone. :/

I thought Hollywood loved to destroy my dreams by casting people that do not look the part for the roles of superheroes. I'm not complaining, I'm just surprised they got one that, so far, looks right. And...I mean come on, we got Natalie Portman in there for some eye candies. Can't wait.



This one on the other hand, makes me cry inside. Ryan Reynolds would make a better Kyle Raynor, NOT Hal Jordan. But, I suppose I should give it a chance.
 
HOLY CRAP am I in a good mood this morning!!!!!! Not sure if I can pinpoint why exactly, but it might be some slight overstimulation (2 StimX + 1 AlphaT2 + 1 large coffee?). Still, I have the very distinct urge to go play in a ball pit, then get out and watch The Big Lebowski while drinking White Russians. Then maybe just for kicks, I'll go to taco bell and buy a family pack of tacos, then chuck them to random people on the street. Or maybe at them instead.

Maybe I'll just go give away some samples instead. I dunno... I feel goofy for a Thursday, especially one that I have to work late. Sucky part of being salaried - NO OVERTIME!!! Ugh...

Welp, I/we will definitely be doing that soon. Just hesitant to open the floodgates just yet. I've run like 3 contest in as many weeks, maybe more, I don't even remember! Definitely fun, but a tad tiring cause I throw myself into 'em constantly. :lol:

Speaking of... my girlfriend thinks she's preggers. And she's pissed at me, until we know, and she won't take a test. :sad3:

We're using BC + condom + pullout though...so I don't understand how she could be. And we're supposed to be going to her hometown next week, life is going to suck so hard. Blllaaaaahhhh.

Had a great leg day though :)

TBH, I don't think she is... the stuff she is saying she has is stuff that can mean her period is coming, and she is highly stressed and gets very little sleep now (:smirk:)

Trying to talk her into taking a test so our Thanksgiving isn't bad. She says she's not mad at me, just freaked out... :liar:

Kidding!!!!! Been a dad for 2 years now to a li'l girl who is the spittin image of me - brains and all. (Poor kid...) For a guy, I think that even a planned pregnancy is still unplanned and unexpected. Life surely changes, but it is what you make of it. I didn't speak to my wife for nearly 2 days after she told me. I regret that now because it's been the most wonderful experience of my life.

Then again, if it's a false alarm, laugh it off and just be extra careful! :)

TBH, I would love a kid... if I was ready. I'm in school right now, and plan on going OCS(Army or Marine... maybe AF if I fall in love with golf :P). I couldn't afford it, nor do I want to take that much time out of my life for one right now(I would if needed, but it's not my first choice).

Kinda makes you not want to have sex. :sad3:

Dude... been there, done that. Pretty sure that's the same thing every dad goes through, or atleast the good ones. We worry about everything, and most of the time, we don't need to. Things have a funny habit of falling into place. Come what may!

We've been married for a few years. One day, we decide to have "the talk" while out walkin' the dog. I finally caved in and said "if it happens, it happens". Second 'time' after that - boom. I'm superman. :lol:

Volcom - you're never financially ready unless you're financially 'proficient'. If money is ever a concern, then it will always be a concern. But, ya make do. My philosophy was always that I can't buy toys for someone else until I have all the toys I want. Then again, Izzie was born in July. That December, I bought the bike. :D :head: :D
 
im goin to be a daddy in a few weeks, my ex gf is having alot of complications been really close to have a miscarriage, shes schedule to get a nice c section on december 28
her birthday is dec 30 so having a nice scar on her gut wold be her xmas pressent from me and a baby :)

Gute Gott!! Are those guys still around? No bands quit anymore. And if they do, they somehow pull off a reunion. It's good when you like a band, but bad if you don't. Some bands should just lay up their instruments and call it a day.

So, lately I've been paying attention to who does and doesn't listen to music in the gym.

I RARELY see anyone serious, not listening to music. How does music affect you guys? Especially you big dudes... does the music give you concentration(I think that's what it does for me) or does it just get your blood pumping and ready to lift?

Just curious, how many of yall listen to music while lifting? I seem to be less motivated without it (unless I have a partner, which is rare now that my bro-in-law is 3 hours away).

Finally got my Indiana state license too :D The BMV is the worst place ever... there was an old lady in there getting her license that had to ask the guy what the paperwork said that she had to fill out... I swear she killed someone on the way home.

Hands WAY up in the air here, making fists and alternating devil horns!!!! I'm highly musically inclined, haved played a SLEW of instruments throughout my life from violin to bassoon to electric guitar. I'm the type that is listening to a playlist in my head even when there's absolute silence around me.

In the gym, I've developed an uncanny and VERY handy ability to tap into my darkest most rage-filled side. I'm a very happy person most of the time, dark humor mostly, but I do get angry. I learned long ago to bottle it up, which wasn't great...until I started to lift. I can tap into it, and can get the adrenaline flowing (rushing!) on-demand these days. And what is most often the catalyst for that flow into my dark side? Music. Heavy, angry, loud, and mean. I rely on my music to bring my intensity out. When I don't have it, I simply can NOT do anything. I have tried, and failed, and when you're a diehard "go hard or go home" guy, I often just pack it up and go home.
 
I sometimes spend as much time looking for the right songs to match mood & exercise as actually working out. I use a zune that has around 90gb of music on it......

Sounds like you have it down to an art... lucky. :D

Every few weeks, my gym days just start to be... blah if I don't add new music or change up my music. It's almost like it's become essential for me to lift :/ Which is another reason I was asking... it kinda sucks if I HAVE to have great music to have great days.
 
I don't listen to music while I'm training, but I usually have a song in my head while I'm lifting. The beat I'm usually tapping out between sets NEVER matches that bullcrap gym music. :)

I Pre-game with some metal before I head to the gym. I'd be worried about getting dependent on an ipod or something like that just to have a good workout.

Think of it this way...

Every time I go to the gym without my iPod, people see that I have no iPod, and it must be perfectly fine for them to talk to me. When that happens, nothing gets done. Sure, I go to socialize a little bit with some buddies, but I'm primarily there to do work. Don't mess up ma work ethic, son!!!

exactly-besides i am a crabby old bastard and i enjoy the solitude my headphones give me.

i tend to grunt rather noisily when lifting heavy-i am aware of it when i don't have my headphones on. when i have my headphones on i am oblivious to it and could care less. plus for some reason it helps when i don't hear myself breathing heavily-don't know why but i do much better with the headphones on.
 
I have yet to see anyone besides myself squating in the new gym I joined.and this one douche is really annoying talks too much about nothing bad corny jokes.ahhhhh

I am very aware of my grunts when I am without headphones, but I can only imagine ho wloud I am when I have headphones on lol.
