Sight seeing in LA, need some ideas

I will be taking a little trip south this month and wanted to find some sight seeing places in the LA area, this is not my first visit there and it seems I always stop by the same places, Hollywood area, Griffin Park and Santa Monica beach, I'm looking for new places to see, you got any tips?

TIA

south central or compton is always a fun place to visit - reminds you of how great home is :)

don't follow my advice.

Griffith observatory is a must see, I loved the view from up there. In N out burger.

It sure is a great place to visit, specially around sunset the view is one of the best I've ever seen.... I've had a chance to see the planetarium before and was impressed by it, last time I was there they were closed for reconstructions I'm sure by now they're operating full time. I will consider seeing it again!

lol... I heard those are great places to visit... specially late a night while playing loud heavy metal music with your windows rolled down... it really brings out the best of the locals :D

Go to San Diego, well worth the drive and then go to Cornado Island. It's like you are entering a tropical island. In LA you should try Village Pizza on Larchmont street, it is real NY pizza and will blow you away!

I go to SoCal every month, absolutly love it there and I know just about everywhere to go down there now.

I was planning to make to SD during this trip to check out some of the parks there but we decided to shorten our trip and not go that far south... after disneyland which is the main reason we're going I'm planning to stay in the LA area for an extra day or two for resting and sight seeing... I'm considering stopping by Venice beach and check out gold's gym, maybe catch some muscle heads working out in preparation for the Olympia :D

I went right after the renovations and it is just amazing the amount of money and effort they put towards the observatory. It was cool to see it in the transformers movie too.

If you're in LA, "Roscoes Chicken & Waffles" and "Diddy Reece" are two places you need to eat at.
came to post.

in n out of course.

pinks hot dogs on la brea. pretty good, but mostly awesome because of how famous it is.

amoeba music is a must if you are into music. tons of rare items.

universal studios and disneyland are pretty cool to do if youve got the cash and the time. can be pricey, but theres a lot to do. just make sure you go to either on a weekday and it wont be too too bad for lines and stuff.

Muscle beach is just a term used for whatever beach I happen to be visiting.

lol... thats quite a moving target then..... but then there's this other little beach known as muscle beach just south of Santa Monica pier... I'm actually going to stop by there on the way down, already placed it on the map

i have never heard of this place but it seems very popular, seen some videos on youtube about long lines but cant figure out why is so popular... are the hot dogs really pink? is the food that great?

its near muscle beach (which is in venice beach btw to be more specific). if you google it im sure you will have no problem finding directions.

i would love to hit that place up tho. now that summer is here ill be able to im sure.

ive heard it is a very humbling experience eating next to gigantic doods.

thats what i did, i looked up the address and entered to gmaps and was able to find i quickly, the biggest challenge was finding the address, that took a while but once i found i check out for parking places and all

The Getty is a 3-3.5 star museum, and its free. May not be your bag though.

I don't really like LA...Disney, Universal, Getty, done.

I sure would like to visit The Getty Museum but I've heard its hard to get in there, I'm not sure you can walk up and get in!

you could visit different areas like Downtown LA has the disney concert hall, the nokia live area next to staples center, the musuem of natural history, La brea tar pits, Little Toykyo is always nice. Catch a Dodgers Game, or a Theater show.

But if you like to go to the beach area you could go to santa monica or hang with the crazy people at venice beach

hollywood blvd manns chinese theater

La brea Tarpits is always a good visit

As of last summer I was able to. I went mid-week and it wasn't even busy. Hope this helps
