Show Me Your Mutt(s)

Good looking puppy

I've always wanted a red husky and it was kind of a spur of the moment thing. Me and my girlfriend were looking at shelters and online and most breeders litters were sold months before they were even born. We found him I was like, "Yep, we're getting him." Lol we drove 15 hours round trip to get him and had to stay in a hotel, so it turned out to be a pretty expensive dog but it was 100% worth it to get exactly what I wanted, and he's a great dog too.

That's an awesome story behind it. You end up finding a breeder or getting him from a shelter?

My crazy girl. I have 2 dogs (posted earlier also) but love this little girl lol. First pic is her crazy ass eating a piece of mango and the second is her sleeping on my pillow when I was away on a work trip.

He was from a breeder. All the shelters huskies were gone within the first day they got there.

My girlfriend wants our next dog to be a rescue, though. She's always wanted to volunteer at a shelter too, so hopefully she can do that soon when school and work slows down.

Is she mixed with anything? My girlfriend is also in love with the show Pitbulls and Parolees lol she's talked about rescuing one of their dogs some day, or going down there just to meet them.

Nice. Ya my first dog was from a breeder, my second a rescue. There's a lady that lives near my parents in Washington that once a week goes to the shelter and takes a dog out for a car ride and a puppychino from Starbucks lol. I think that's pretty damn awesome.

She's pitbull and lab mix. (we think)

That's what I was thinking it looked like too. I've never heard of a puppychino lol

I have more of a soft spot for dogs than humans lol

My Bianca makes the same face when spoon fed lol She got sick within the first few weeks we rescued her so she had special food we have to give her with a spoon. Like I needed more reasons to treat her like a human baby lol

Lulu is starting to get comfortable here now :D

Looks like a beastttttt, how much does he weigh?

He is not bigger than a regular sized male pit, weighting about 80 lbs. His father (Fila Brasileiro) is huge, like 160-170lbs but the mother is a smaller Pitbull.

Can't recommend that mix to anyone, really. He has the prey drive of the Pit and the stubbornness- and "stranger hate" (called: ojeriza) of a Fila (B.Mastiff).
Very difficult dog.
But I love him!

Thank you it's much appreciated, specially the guys on this thread know what it's like lol but luckily it's something that after surgery he'll be back at 100 within a few weeks, I joke he'll be IronDog now lmao

That is a f***ing awesomely funny look on her face! Dogs can be real hams sometimes ... most of the times.

He loves everyone.

Adopted him 3 weeks after my best friend passed away after 15 years. I couldn't cope. Flew 3 hours then drove another 3.5 one way for this one. He had the same look in his eyes.

I wrote about my best friend, and happy to share it here with you gents.

15 years ago today, I opened my heart to a precious gift, and now my hand lay on the keyboard searching for the words to honor my friend.* He was abandoned in the rain I was told probably for days, and then he was gifted to me because someone thought I needed him. *It turns out they were right, but we needed each other more than I could imagine.

I didn't want him.
I said no at first, I don’t want a dog.* I then said, let me think about it for a few minutes.* So, I placed him in an office and as I closed the door he squared and peed.
Without pause, I closed the door, turned and said, I’ll take him.* A few minutes later I left to show my wife and ‘ask permission’ to keep him.*

He was a baby, and cried all night, he wouldn’t eat either so I slept on the floor in the kitchen so my wife could sleep.* I fed him by hand until he could eat on his own.

As he grew he was rebellious like a teen, but he was gentle and kind.* He seemed to age well, and was like a puppy until recently when he began to falter and became sick. * He was now like that abandoned puppy, in need of great care.
This moment has me left without a voice, so I write because it saves me from choking on my words.* My fingers know where to find them and I’m thankful because my eyes are filled with tears.
I’ve said my last goodnight, and goodbye to my best friend this day.

What else is there to say?
This is the first time I have ever had to let go in such a way.* A kindred spirit; my shadow; and conscience, he was all of these and always a friend who looked up to me.
Ready to play, any time of day, he was not without energy and of good spirit, he was my buddy.

In his last hours he came to me and I could see it in his eyes, he wanted me to help him, and he was desperate.* You see, he couldn’t breath, and not much could be done, so I picked him up; carried him to the care and we went for a last ride together.*

Some might not understand the bond between dog and man, and I hadn’t realized how strong until now.* I couldn’t let my friend linger in pain, so I let him go.* It may sound strange, but he was like a son to me.
I’m an artist, but my imagination fails me when I try to think of life without him. Sitting here my words are less filled with love for myself because I am responsible for ending his life. * It doesn’t seem right. Could I have bought him a few more days; weeks or months? Could something have been done to lengthen his life, or would I have bought him more agony and suffering because I selfishly wanted him to stay with me?
As naive as this seems I always thought dogs passed away in their sleep, but I had to choose for him.* I had to choose for him.* I had to say the words. *

I couldn't stay, I couldn't hold him till his last breath. *It was too much for me to bare... so I walked that hallway alone that took far too long to reach the door. The exit... and then I sat on the curb at 3 in the morning, and let out a whale of loss, a primordial scream for the loss of my friend. *Then I wept uncontrollably.
It’s said that dogs live short lives because they have nothing to learn but everything to teach.* They are gentle and loyal; loving and kind; forgiving and thoughtful.* Their time here is short as their hearts are so pure. *I can't stop myself from crying.

I miss him so much.* My friend.* My buddy.* My son.* My gift. *Buddy died on the same day, and the same hour as my father 2 years ago this day.

So sorry for your loss,
I know exactly what you mean our English mastiff of 11 joyfull years was diagnosed with bone cancer and we had to do the unthinkable just like you.

Congrats on the new addition !!!

Bought this little girl for my wife after her miniature dachshund that he had for 16 years passed away. Not typically the "little dog" type but shes just so sweet. Chihuahua/dachshund mix. Invalid Link Removed
