Square shoulders as I find that harder to achieve than big traps

I have achieved square shoulders (took ten years of work), but big trap I have never had ......

Heavy farmers walks, suit case carries and pryamid barbell shrugs blew mine up

try 10 shrugs then 10 second hold shrugged, repeat all the way down to 1 with as little rest as possible... Absolute killer

For me I prefer that levrone pic, but both look great. I’ve always had some nice traps, but have been doing fence work since a kid. Mixing cement, heavy wheel barrows, post diggers, so when I started lifting my traps always responded well. For me I find dead lifts, sumo dead’s, deads to shrugs and trap dead’s are all I really need.

Considering I have both but most guys will call out the size of my traps, I go with them. To me, strength looks like big traps, forearms, calves and glute. If that is going on, chances are you are a strong MFer and/or fit as hell.

With Big Traps (and no shirt) you look strong as heck, in a dress shirt, square shoulders win. I guess it's a double edged sword....... the other part of the equation is neck size a Fat / Thick Neck make for a Very Powerful look

Yes, but also a pain in the ass to get nice dress shirts, all of mine need to be tailored. 18" neck with a 33 waist doesn't work for anything off the shelf.

I’m the same, about 18” neck with 32” waist, it’s challenging. A few years back when I still was fighting and did a ton of neck work I had a 19,5” neck...

Going to give these a try in about 10 minutes !!

The thicker the neck more chances that you’ll need a cpap machine to breath while you sleep. Fuk Dat!!

You can get the illusion of big shoulders by wearing certain styles of shirts but you can't fake traps so I'd take traps.

Traps in the making !!

I'll stick with the Square Shoulder Look.

For the general wow factor then both, or big traps as long as shoulders are not deficient. However really 3D shoulders are the most impressive to me. If the shoulders are full and well developed from front to back that is really impressive to me and also pretty rare. Normally medial and rear delts are lacking and everything slopes to an overworked chest and anterior delt.
