SFreeds 8 Weeks to the Beach cut

Just jumping in on the "spot reduction" thing. When people say "spot reduction" is impossible, what that has historically meant is that it is a MYTH that training an area of your body will cause fat loss in that area. I.e. - sit ups burn fat on your abs, triceps exercises burn fat in your arms, etc. When you burn fat through exercise, you burn fat from a systemic viewpoint - so spot reduction through exercise does not work.

To say you can't reduce fat in a specific area through other means is obviously wrong - think of liposuction. Of course I can spot reduce fat on your abs, I can slice you open and pull the fat out physically and sew you up.

It is a good idea to be skeptical of anything that says you can lose fat by taking it. It is an even better idea to be skeptical of anything that says, "Just rub this on your skin and you will lose fat". And it is a REALLY good idea to be skeptical of anything that says, "Rub this on your problem areas and lose fat." I don't blame anyone here.

On the other hand, there probably are ways to make fat loss more effective IF you can target the fat cells. For instance, Glut4 translocation will help your body utilize glycogen better because it helps transport glycogen from your blood into your cells. Increasing Glut4 expression will get more glycogen into cells, and decreasing it will make it harder to get glycogen into cells. Long story short, increasing glut4 in muscle tissue is good for body composition. Increasing glut4 systemically or specifically in fat tissue can be bad for composition. In reverse - what if you can reduce glut4 in fat tissue without effecting muscle tissue? A localized, non-systemic delivery system that can deliver a chemical directly to fat cells through the skin and thus not effect muscle tissue would be an obvious answer....

Don't forget the other hugely popular..And proven spot reduction. Coolsculpting. It works by directly targeting and freezing fat cells...So there's another example that spot reduction can be affected by noninvasive means.

Definitely would like to know how the results go for you. I'd love to use it if it works.

I knew you'd be along with the scientific answer HIT4ME. That's why we all love you so much. Well, that and that other thing you're good at.

I didn't realize I was good at anything beyond typing out unnecessarily ling posts that go on and on and just ramble and ramble with no clear point in site.

Well, yeah, there's that too. But you're still the smart one.

So smart I can't spell long.

What? You don't have any meme for this situation?

Made it to the gym (only because it beat staying home arguing with my wife) 48 minutes of intervals (4 minutes @ 8 mph / 2 minutes at 4 mph) followed by 30 minutes of abs. Not really feeling it at all, but made the attempt anyway. Really looking forward to vacation next week and spending a few days in the woods.

In the woods or with wood?

All I think of is Desperado and Selma Hayek's glorious breasts.

Today was 95% of 15 rep max day. I'm really enjoying the HST program, and will probably stick with it for a while. And my new favorite pre-workout is a scoop of Radiate and a scoop of MaxReps. Energy, focus, sweat and pumps! What more could anyone ask for. Been doing 3/4 scoop of Radiate in the morning and the appetite suppression is pretty strong. Also been doing SuperNova in the morning, and Abliderated in the evening.

Weight today was 195, and since I have 6 weeks left on this cut, I've changed to goal to 185. Should still be do-able, if I can take it easy on the Mexican food and margaritas.

Mexican is a weekly staple! I just stay away from rice and tortillas.

Yes people, there is Mexican food without tortillas.

Glad the HST is working for you. You know I like it. how's the achilles tendon feeling?

I've avoided a nasty bug that's been going around until today. Wife had a Dr's appointment this morning so no gym today. If I'm not feeling any better, probably won't be going tomorrow either.

I'm sorry, I thought someone said YOGA PANTS. I'll take this down... in a minute. I'm busy.

Sorry for neglecting everything guys. This bug has really stuck my dyk in the dirt. No gym since Tuesday, no Pull ups yesterday. Just trying to get over it so I can still make my backpacking trip.

That bug took me out for 3 days and took another 3 weeks before I felt normal. Heal up.

Damn it seems like everyone is getting hit with something. I don't know if it's a actual thing going on or just my perception.

It was in my house and hit my kids bad. I made it out with just cold symptoms. It could be placebo, but I swear by Shakeology giving me that extra boost of nutrients and helping me avoid or at least shorten sickness.

I am a machine and don't get sick soooo.......

Unlike ryane87, I am not a cyborg and do occasionally get sick. Starting to feel a little better, call it 80%, so today was my first gym day in about 5 days. It was also my 100% of 15 rep max HST day. It was a real struggle, which wasn't a huge surprise. Endurance was down, strength wasn't quite there yet either.

Also decided that I'm going ahead with my backpacking trip. So tomorrow morning I'll be making the 4 hour drive down to Southeast Missouri to spend a couple days hiking on the Ozark Trail. Let's see what 30 miles in the mountains over a couple of days does for me. Should be able to check in a couple times, when I'm on the top anyway. Should be back around Wednesday night.

That sounds like fun and like a lot of cardio lol.

Just to clarify... habajaba is the guy that takes a vacation in order to prep for vacation and then follows the vacation up with a vacation in order to recover from the 2 previously stated vacations and then starts the process over because the meer thought of returning to the real world is simply exhausting!!

good work if you can get it, lol:smoker:

Enjoy the hell out of your trip homie! That would be fun.

Haha! Somehow I missed the original post. Thanks to big T for replying so I saw this. :-)

Vacations are hard work man. I brush the beard out a lot during that time and it really hits the biceps.

I did just get back from a trip. But it was business this time... Maybe I should start looking for my next vacation.

Nice work, man. Those are the days that matter most. When you aren't quite up to it, but you push yourself and make it happen anyway!

Safe travels and hope you enjoy your trip!
