Red Sox take series !!

Already 0 for 2 against Detroit. What a way to get ready for a "make-it-or-break-it series" with the evil empire. I hate to say it, but it looks like the fat lady is getting herself a drink of water before her big performance.

All in all, it was a decent year and definitely one to build the future with. Time to turn to football and as irony has it, Madden '07 will be out the day after the weekend massacre to soothe all us Boston fans for yet another lost season of what could have been. :drunk:

I think your giving up a bit prematurely and a true fan wouldn't be. There are still 50 games left in regular season play......more than enough to have an interesting end of the season. Don't forget it's the yankees themselves that represent the greatest CHOKE in baseball playoff history.....i can hear them starting to hack right now.

yeah, it's too early to count them out. 3 GB ain't sh!t. hell, they were 1 GB again a couple days ago. it can switch on the flip of a hat. my only assurance is that matsui and sheffield still aren't part of the equation.

Yeah, I know what you are saying. After watching them tonight I think they might have a run left in them. Wells is getting up to speed, Papelbon seems to have his issues worked out and it only gets better when the DL empties out.

Did you know, the Yanks are a better team without them two (Scheff and Matsui), check the stats. So I can't wait for them to get back either. JK

Anyhow, here's to a great finish to a great year in baseball!!!

I don't know about that. We are the toughest fans in professional sports and will give up the ghost at the first sight of trouble. But you are right about the biggest choke in sports history.:nutkick:

Anybody seen that bullet I left lying around? I don't think I can take 3 more games of what I just saw. Little league teams play better than they did today. Heck, Luis Tiant and Bob Stanley had a better shot at getting someone out then the clowns they put out there today. Even Bill "The Spaceman" Lee got people out from time to time.

I honestly can't believe that jason johnson is still in the starting rotation.....to say he is god aweful is an understatement. The pitching is killing us right now.

someone tell me, because i just don't know. is it 'good' when your team loses twice in the same day??? doesn't sound 'good' to me, but i just wanted to check to see what the boston fans thought.

:D

Depends on what you consider losing. I always thought that if you gave up over 12 runs a game, it counted as a win for both teams - no? My bad.

I know it must be great satisfaction seeing us Sox fans suffer this humiliation but, can we officially change the title of this board to: Yankees win the division - AGAIN
:bow28:
Just calling it as I see it.

Im looking at my broom in the corner of the room just looking dont want to get it out untilt he final out of the final game because sox could take the next 2. But according to ESPN the other day the sox would win 3 of 5. I can't wait to see what they say monday. They always slob all over the red sox knobs when they win and win they lose they make petty excuses for the red sox. How bias can espn be really. I hate espn GO YANKEES!@#$%^

I can answer this quite simply for you. They like everone else are tired of seeing the yankees buy themselves another playoff spot.

Bro it has nothing to do with hate.......it's the flat out truth. Remember what happened in 2004.....hmmmmmm..... yeah yankee fans like to forget about their big CHOKE. It ain't over yet my friend  GO SOX!!

yes, that one year must have been something for sox fans. maybe in another 86 years, it'll happen again.
Yes, and maybe by then the yankee payroll will reach the billion dollar mark and they can just pay off every team into submission instead of the actual formality of buying everyone elses talent that can't afford them......oh what fun baseball will be.

The yankees remind me of that Simpsons epsidoe where Mr. Burns buys the All-Stars for the company softball game against the Shelbyville Nuclear Power plant. :icon_lol:

i'm sorry. all i hear is 'boston massacre' with 4 games straight so far.

yes yes, yanks are the root of all evil. every other team makes pennies, including manny's 18 million + salary. how dare yankees spend more money in a city that has the highest cost of living than anywhere else in the nation, where the average shoebox apartment is 40-50K per year. and if the salary does reach one billion, i hope they spend it all on better players. why shouldn't they? because boston fans don't like it? fuel the hatred and jealousy that has grown over the decades. excuses are dime a dozen. at least boston is consistent with theirs.

Looks as if David Wells better be your savior today if you guys even want one game. I don't think you guys do want 1 game though. Used 3 pitchers in one inning when you should have just brought in crapelbon to begin with. Way to manage a bullpen.

All I can say is this really hurts , I expected to at least come out with 3 wins... this is the Boston massacre all over again.. arrrrggghhhhh....:run:

truth be told, i'm surprised too. i figured yanks would still come out in first, but i figured they'd only win 2, maybe 3. i can't complain though.

no complaints here either all smiles Go Yankees I really think getting Abreu has put us over the edge he seems to always get on base and he knows how to work a pitchers arm

yeah and Johnny Damon killed the red sox nation with what he said this weekend

THE WHOLE CITY OF BOSTON IS ON SUICIDE ALERT!!!!!!

You boys can talk all the trash you want......we'll have our turn don't you worry. If you think that this breaks my spirits your sorely mistaken. Win or lose i'm a sox fan to the end......GO SOX!!!!!!.....it's funny though you haven't heard the yankee fans talk smack all season and now they come out of the woodwork when they're starting to win.....you can talk all the shi* ya want but last time i checked we spanked ya when it mattered and won it all. Plenty of games left my friends so we'll see where is all ends up.

still talking about that ONE year. none of the other years matter, when boston got spanked repeatedly. selective memory i suppose. and who the hell talks 'smack' about a team in second? boston? apparently so. *high five* i, too, am thrilled that they're in second. yankees are shining once again, just because we didn't trample around the board whining about other teams and all that 'woe is me' sh!t doesn't mean we quit supporting them. now, back to your whining about salaries, boston fans are waiting.

Well at least there is another 4 game series in september in which I hope we have a better outcome.....I'm sure the sox are going to be quite hungry going into that series in new york looking for a little revenge.....I'm sure we can all agree where would baseball be without the yankees/redsox rivalry. There isn't a better one in sports IMO.

Man, I've been asleep all weekend. Did I miss something? I had this God aweful dream the Yankees swept 5 from Boston, in Boston.

Huh, what? ...... :FUfinger:

Just means I can dedicate more time to Madden '07.

We'll be back!!!

This is more like it!

Talking smack is not neccessary when you have 26 titles. 2004 was a glorious year for the Sox but last time I checked it's 2006 and right now the Sox are in danger of playing golf in October. You should continue to support your team but Go Yankees:gas:

It ain't over till it's over.....and yes we proved it agaisnt the good ole yanks that it can be done.

I am really dissappointed after that series. I am not a fan of either team(sox if i had to pick). But damn that just takes the fun out of watching those teams for the next month. The sox just showed incredible weakness, while they Yankees are starting to peak. This kinda takes the fun out of watching the last month for these teams H2H. I mean Sox need to get back on track for the wild card. I hope they make the playoffs as a Wild Card and we can have another epic battle(said in bill waltons voice) between these rivals. Besides that the AL West sucks to watch(went to a Texas game and it was just terrible baseball). Detriot wont close it out IMO, Chicago's pitching kills me but they still win. And the NL is jsut boring besides me loving to watch Reyes and Wright dominate. And since my D Rays are years away from doing anything(like .500) and the Astros were joking around with everyone all season, pretending to be a wild card team(while if you look at their lineup they are horrid). I have nothing really to look forward until the playoffs start.

Can't hold back any longer...

I know I have been hard on the Sox, but they have too much talent to: 1. be getting swept by anyone, 2. continuely losing series and 3. just not playing good baseball.

IMO, the week prior to and ever since the Yankee sweep, there are not even thinking about baseball. Everyone seems to be hurt and calling it quits. I don't think the Yankees would have responded like this if they had gotten swept. So what is it? Are we seeing a young team out of gas, an old team unable to withstand the rigors of a long season anymore or a bad coach who can't refocus his players on baseball?

Realistically, the future looks bright. However, the future is not October this year. And by the time they get healthy again, they are going to be in such a hole they'll be fighting with Toronto for third. So hat's off to New York for perservering through their hard times.

We had a great run this year, but now I'm ready for some football!!!
