First Upper Body Workout
I didn't realize how exhausting a full upper body workout would be (I've never really done one), but I finished in about one hour.
Strength is definitely up. When I went to warm up with push ups (with no weight), it was kind of odd how much easier they felt. I only did 20 to warm up for the weighted push ups, but I felt like I could have gotten to at least 45-50. With the 50lb backpack I was able to get 8 reps on the first set and then 5-7 on the next 4.
Another good indicator was the pullup negatives. As I've mentioned, I cannot do one single pull up with an overhand grip. I was able to lower myself in a slower and more controlled fashion than in the past. When I first started doing this, I would pretty drop in the process of trying to perform a negative.
I was also able to increase db shoulder presses to 40lb db's for 8 reps on each set.
I decided to up the weight for ez-barbell curls also on the last two sets. I managed to get 60lbs (+the bar?) for 3 reps and a 1RM of 75lbs (+bar). It's a Cap barbell (not Olympic size ends); I'm guessing it weighs around 10lbs, though.
It was a workout where I hated my life for a short time, lol, but I was definitely able to see some results.
