Radio Station: Anyone have ideas on what to say?

Okay guys we need more feedback. We are going to be advertising on local radio stations in Northern Florida (where I am located) and Southeastern Louisiana (where IBE is located) and start getting some sales as a foundation before we branch outward.

We need some ideas on what to say. We have 60 seconds to advertise and we don't want it to be like every other fat loss advertisement out there. We want to advertise to the mainstream not just bodybuilding community and market this as an energy/focus/fat loss/appetite suppressing product. This will be for X-Force.

Thanks again for your help guys. We are newer to the general supplement world so we sorta have to start all over with advertising and getting the word out and we really appreciate everyone's help!

I would say something about either job performance and focus, or something about losing fat and getting more women, or both...feast on the insecurities of your listeners. :gas:

My first idea is to contact some local university communications department. I bet you can get some advertising students to share their embryonic expertise for course credits or a case of ramen noodles.

As for my idea:

I'd suggest a commercial that has a driving musical beat in it (to suggest energy and movement). Then the voice message would be the repetition of a couple simple but slightly cryptic phrases:

"What's the difference between average and excellence?"
"What's the difference between drifting and driven?"
"What if there was a product which could help you achieve all that you've been striving for?"

"X-Force IS is the solution!"

"Energy!"
"Focus!"
"Fat loss!"

Available blah blah blah (blah=your website or wherever your distribution channels are).

"X-perience ENERGY. X-perience FOCUS. X-perience the fat burning power of X-Force."

Or, used alternately with..

"X-treme ENERGY. X-treme Focus. X-treme fat burning"

"Why take the legal risk of using an ephedra-based fatburner and energy booster like Ephedra when you can experience the first-class boost in alertness and fat burning power of X-force? The proprietary mix of ingredients in X-Force surpass the energy boosting and mood lifting of any other fat burner out there..legal or illegal."

Eh, sumpthin like that.

"X-treme ENERGY. X-treme Focus. X-treme fat burning"

Ridiculous, I was just about to suggest this exact same thing...beat me to it.

Well, honestly it's not quite this simple. Have you already picked out what station(s) you'll be advertising with? Ideally you would seek out a station that fits your demographic instead of trying to make your product fit the station's, but if money is a factor things don't always work out this way.

Different stations will obviously have very different strengths and weaknesses when it comes to their key demographics (and the cost to do business with them). Try and find out if the station(s) have any "added value" that they can offer and ask about doing traffic spots (10 second snipets that basically get the name out and a quick message...great for frequency as well as associating a catch phrase/info with your company's name...frequency will be the big thing for you since you'll be a new name to the listeners...you'll want to be very consistant with your message and pound it in). Weekends are often cheaper and rotators are dirt cheap, but there's no guaruntee what time of day they'll play.

Some radio stations also offer pretty good internet packages that are relatively cheap in comparison to radio spots. It's a great way to add to the overall number of impressions you make and it's great for raising frequency with that particular radio station's "core" followers.

Last, but not least, try and get together with somebody from a radio station and see if they are willing to put together some ideas for you (a good station will do this for free in hopes of a partnership). They should be able to come up with some unique ideas for you if you can give them your target demographics, what you want to happen, and a quantifiable way to measure that goal.

IBE said:
Good post, we have met with them before and they had a package exactly what you just said. but that was last year so things might of changed but we will meet with them again soon as we come up with a good slogan

The radio station should be able to help you out with that based off of the info that you discuss together. A good station will try to come up with a marketing plan for you and others will just throw spot rates and packages at you without knowing how/if they can even help you.

This kind of stuff sticks in my head, so I'll see what I can come up with based off of what LMD said in his first post. Do you guys know what station(s) you'll be going with?

I'd concentrate on a variety of demographics. Ideally, lots of different demographics need energy and are willing to use stimulants. If you look at the explosion of energy drinks and packets of energy powders or pills offered at convenience stores, it's easy to see there's a big market there.

The key is to get out the message that X-Force is different and lacks a lot of the sides that ephedra or mega doses of caffiene have. Getting X-force sample packs into Circle K along with your Matrix drinks would set you up nicely.

The party crowd, truck drivers, endurance atheletes..I see a wide array of people who would dig these products.

60 seconds is a lot longer than you think when putting this kind of stuff together.

Still writing some ideas down but I'm thinking along the lines of:
X-cept no boundaries with X-Force by IBE. X-force Provides needed Focus to make it through a day at the office or that extra set in the gym. X-Force synergistically Optimizes fat loss by Reducing your appetite while still providing Clean, jitter free Energy.

X-Force, X-cept no boundaries. A product of IBE.

This would somewhat work on a print add as well. Still would need a lot of work, but it's a good start if you like it.

Edit: X-Force's energy X-cepts no boundaries.
I keep wanting to say X-pect...whatever...but that's Xyience's thing, isn't it?

That's pretty good!

The only problem is that 60 seconds is two to three times longer than that. Some stations only run 60 second spots. If you guys have problems getting to 60 you could record two 30 second spots that would just run back to back.

i second glen's idea. :)

or you could also add to that it will add 5" to your penis size.

ANONYMOUS POSTING (I will reward this user candidly if it is chosen)

"
""Experiencing lag?"
"Experiencing a lack of focus"
"Well then experience the revolution, experience X Force!!"

And then at this point you, or conversely IBE would come in with a candid description of the product. Something along the lines:

Here at IBE we are confident that the introduction of X-Force will usher in a new generation of cognitive aids, making older Ephedra-based buzz stimulants a thing of the past. We sought to create more than a stimulant, and give the user a cognitive aid with wide-reaching applications. Whether it be at the office, the gym, or simply at home X-Froce's revolutionary matrix of ingredients will help the consumer focus at the task at hand without the negative risks associated with other 'energy' products. No crash and burn, no shakiness, no overtstimulation just a pure, clean and focused energy.

"Don't be part of the past, be part of the revolution. Experience X-Force!!"
"

Tired of the same old energy drinks? Need something to take you beyond the bull of "getting wings"? X-Force is a new generation energy drink that will ROCKET you to the top!! Our
proprietary formula containing (insert technical blah blah here) will give you a clean smooth ride to the top and last for hours with no crash at the end. Whether you need it to focus for that big meeting, study for homework, hit it hard at the gym or just party late into the night we have you covered. Let the Xtasy of Xforce rev you up now!!

How will the people know where they can buy the drink?

I am guessing it will be available in local stores so you probably can get those stores to go in on the cost of the advertising.

Just be careful radio salespeople can tell you exactly what you want to hear and build up the expectations for sales you will receive. I should know I was in marketing of radio advertising, but from the other side, MANY years ago.

You probably already know or have heard of the 7 time rule. Generally for a new product a person has to be exposed to 7 times before they will buy. Doesn't mean that every person who is exposed to it 7 times will buy, but you know what I mean.

So will those people be exposed, meaning ACTUALLY hear the commercial, not change the station, and listen to what is being said?

I am not too far from where your ads will be playing, and know w few of the players in town, if there is anything I can do to help just let me know.

BTW IMO Lake is onto something BUT that plays well in a magazine ad, a forum or a website. Way too may big words and sentances too long for radio. Listen to some radio ads for well established drinks and see how they go. You may actually notice that not too many drinks are sold on via radio advertising EXCEPT when it is back up for other advertising. I would say this product is not served well by radio (better to say that now rather than after you have paid for the spots) advertising but respect all your efforts and am sure it will rock.

thanks for your input, the radio is for X-force only not the energy drink. you are correct about energy drinks do not really go with radio stations.

oops
sorry about that I thought X-Force was the energy drink.

X-Force is the pill form of Matrix basically. It will be available at quite a few places in Tallahassee and parts of Louisiana where IBE is located. It will be a good start for us but I am going to be selling it at all stores that don't require a corporate approval (a.k.a. most franchises), then when the legal stuff gets worked out we will start pushing more towards selling to nationally commercial vendors.
