Pre-bootcamp workout program anyone??

Leaving for usmc bootcamp in April and want to change up my routine, leaning towards military based exercises or exercises that'll be more useful during training besides laying on a bench and pressing as much weight as I can. Besides the obvious running I need to prepare for, is there any suggestions towards a program/exercises that will get me ready for boot? To any active/prior servicemen, is there anything you wish you could have worked on prior to attending boot? I'm in great shape as is but would feel more comfortable with hearing from anyone with any suggestions or experience. Thanks guys.

Hey man looks like so far your doing well and shouldnt have any issues with a PFT. Like you already stated running is a big one, lots of pushups, crunches, mountain climbers, jumping jacks, jogging in place. Basicaly a lot of calisthenics ( sp? ) is whats going to help you. Im not good at that type of stuff as my cardio has always sucked but i still found bootcamp pretty easy. Pushups n whatnot were easy for me though, but just move fast and be loud and you will be good.

Yea obv the running is a big one, start maxing out your runs instead of sticking to a certain distance every time. The only way your gonna get better is pushing yourself, another big one is ruck sack marches... Go for a long hike with around 60 lbs on your back to get your feet used to it.

Lots of pushups. When you train pushups, work on different forms like triceps, regular grip and wide and go to failure on all of them. Work on weighted pull-ups just to give your body something new to adapt too. Do mountain climbers and 8 counts, look them up if you don't know how to do them. They punish you with exercises that you wouldn't think to prepare for. Look luck man! I am a sailor but we all do the same thing when it comes down too it.

When I went through Army basic training, and I'm not trying to start any Army/Marine *****ry arguments, muscle endurance was much more important than strength. They're gonna push you until everyone is falling out so it's best to be the guy still standing after a good smoking. Hold a 10 pound weight in straight out in front of u, we used our M4's, and go into a full squat, then hold it till you fall. That's what I got for talking out of turn lol.

Look into something like Crossfit

like someone mentioned above, hiking with weight is a really good idea.
While you are in boot and mct/soi you don't get to eat well and your body suffers. We had a ton of kids get recycled because of broken or fractured feet.

Also, on your pull ups, make sure you are going to a full hang, and when you go up you are going chin fully over the bar. Some Di's are harder than others about what they count and it also matters how much they like you.

and I would start running 4 miles 2-3 times a week. PFT is 3 miles but if you go in the summer it feels like 4.

Will you be going east or west coast? and what is your mos
