Not entirely. Many situations retaliation is not necessary or called for, of course. That's why a person needs to take serious consideration in their actions. But, as a human, I have no problem with hitting someone back if they hit you, for example. Of course this isn't all black and white. If a guy hit me when I was 12, and I ran into him when I was 30 and he was a nice guy, I'm not going to just punch him. LOL.Whiskey Steve said:How could the quote (about us all ending up blind) not be true?
Those kinds of attitudes (take an eye and a lip) are what make this world such a foul place. I would encourge your to change your philosophys on that.
I don't know how you interprted it that way. Its obvious that's not the meaning of my quote. Its obvious that I was implying that if someone believes they can hit me for no reason, I would feel obliged to return the favor. There was NOTHING that indicated I WANTED to get hit. I'd rather be treated with kindness so i can return that. that being said, turn the other cheek doesn't work for me, not unless the consequences for my actions would be too heavy to justify my retaliation. And your "cleaver" interpretion of the quote: "do unto others as you would have them do unto you" is a stupid one. What you are saying is you want others to punch you in the face because thats how you think all of us deserve to be treated.
