Peptides: Remedy for Extreme Muscle Soreness, PWO?

I would like to ask for comments regarding how (if at all), IGF-1lr3 or perhaps another peptide would help this "condition" I have.

I typically get extremely sore after my usual workouts (example: chest/tri's workout). I will remain horribly sore in the chest and delt/pec tie-in area for days on end. Sometimes when I do deep squats along with leg extensions, leg curls, etc, I will literally be nearly immobilized for days afterwards. Descending stairs involves me using the handrails and walking down them using my arms and a dangling my legs cause they hurt so much (yes, I look like a jackass, but oh well). Can take up to a week to recover.

FYI: My workouts do not go over an hour (even for legs).

Also, as I mentioned in another thread elsewhere, I get sore from doing mundane activities. I recently threw a couple game of darts and my brachialis (side bicep muscle) and forearm were sore. I can bowl a couple of games and my right obliques, forearm, wrist, etc are destroyed.

Will a peptide help with this B.S.? Or will I get even more sore???

What I have done in the last couple of months is drastically alter my lifting regime. I now workout 2-3x/week MAX. I do NOT workout until I am 100% healed (not sore anymore). I do a split upper body workout and a lower bodywork now. I only do a couple exercises per bodypart and I am now keeping it low rep, higher weight. I have noticed I am not only keeping my size, but getting a little bit bigger. Very strange.

Any help & guidance would be great.

I am not convinced peptides will help here. It is actually quite opposite as PegMGF, for instance, is responsible for increasing DOMS in many people that run it. Very common side, not that your situation is DOMS related, though.
My thought, in your case, is that something like Beta Alanine may be worth a shot as it is responsible for reducing muscle pH due to lactic acid build up and thus muscle fatigue. It basically increases intracellular carnosine for a greater degree of H+ buffering.
I definitely feel a difference with not fatiguing as much. It's noticable in my endurance during workouts (reps)... BUT most noticable is when I work my hands (thumbs especially) giving my girl long deep massages. My thumb muscles would cramp and fatigue after a few minutes, and after taking BetaA, I could litereally keep going without the same level of fatigue.

Pumbertot BTW, is also a supporter of the effects of BetaAlanine..

Take Care.

Very cool, thank you! I will read up on Beta-Al and most likely get my hands on some. My Dr. (Nephrologist) had me get some Carnitine tabs and I take 500mg 2x ED. I don't think it's done anything for me, but I will give it another few months. He did blood work on me initially and found I had low serum levels of Carnitine, thus his recommendation for the supplementation ( I also told him about my extreme soreness and he said he's only heard of such soreness in rare cases back in medical school. ugh).

And yes, I do get lactic acid build up FAST! I get a pump in no time. I can get a mad pump doing a simple, very light weight warm-up set. Your advice sounds right up my alley!

Update: I found Beta-Alanine in bulk powder (1,000g for $38). Dosing: 2g 2-3x ED, with one of the 2g servings 30 min. pre-w/o. Thought I would share this.

Cool, I think it may make some difference for you as it did for me :) I buy BA in bulk for cheap. I dose it at 12mg split throughout the day as this dosage works best for me. It is dose dependant and needs to be dosed consistantly to build up baseline levels of intracellular carnosine. BTW, carnosine is not orally bioavailable and is broken down into beta alanine and histidine before absorbtion, thus BA is the recommended way to increase carnosine levels efficiently.

BTW, not sure you were comparing the "Carnitine" you are taking with the "Carnosine" I was referencing, as they are 2 different compounds. Just making sure....

Yes, I was thinking of that....I can't recall exactly now. Oh well....I like your remedy, so I'll get me 1kg of Beta-A :D I have read many good things about it since researching it a bit. I'm actually kind of stoked about it. What I would do to relieve some muscle soreness!!

$37.95 for a kilo here at NP (sponsor at AM):

Invalid Link Removed

I dose it 3 times a day, 4g per dose, one of which is pre workout. I believe consitency of continuous dosing throughout the day makes a bigger impact on keeping baseline carnosine levels high as opposed to just taking a large dose preworkout IMO...

What is your height/weight? Is it weight-dependent? I have read that clinical studies mentioned >6g didn't show improved results. Not saying you aren't experiencing them, but if you're a big dude, then you prob. would have to dose higher. I will work up to 2g 3x ED at 1st, then see if I can go higher and tolerate it (and see if it's making a difference for me). I will look into NP's bulk deal. I have used them in the past with good luck :D

Edit: Do you think I can add the Beta-Ala to my Glutamine (pre-workout), or will there be "competitive absorption"? I take 10g Glutamine pre and post W/O.

hi papapump

i happen to be displaying the same symptoms as u and am very interested in finding out whether BA helps alleviate your symptoms. pls reply as soon as possible

cheers

I had very similar symptoms..stayed sore for a week for about a year. Very discouraging as it feels like you're never really recovering.

I started doing an HGH boosting protocol using IGF-2, niacin, GABA, Glycine, Lysine and Glutamine on an empty stomach before bed. Usually take 9 mg of melatonin as well.

Works like a charm. Took care of 95% of the soreness. Now just have mild, normal DOMS after 48 hours and they go away fast.

I use BA as well, but only in my pre-WO drink with dicreatine malate.

hi bioman. thanks for the feedback.

can i ask how u suddenly developed these symptoms ? mine occured after an injury to a scapular muscle during an intense bulking phase. i tried to start gyming again when all the soreness began.

im also not familiar with 'HGH boosting protocol using IGF-2, niacin, GABA, Glycine, Lysine and Glutamine'

cheers

Can't really pinpoint when it started...just sorta crept in and stayed around for years. I kept thinking "Yeah, I'm 37 and that's when hormones really start declining, but I shouldn't feel this bad."

As far as the protocol...it's mine so of course you haven't heard of it. lol

Dose:

3 caps IGF-2
3 3mg melatonin tabs
2 grams glycine
2 grams lysine
2 grams glutamine
500 mg niacin
1 gram GABA

all on an empty stomach an hour or so before bed. You can also dose this prior to a workout...with the melatonin being optional.

Sleep is excellent on this stack and recovery is a slam dunk.
