NTNM - Diet , my un-scientific approach to leanness

Depends on where he is doing it and if he keeps his tightness. I would definitely stay away from intentionally creating and working through fatigue in any area that is injury prone. However if he is in a position that his knees feel healthy doing that then it shouldn't be a problem assuming he does not push it too far... Almost blacking out... maybe a bit far if he wants to avoid hurting the knees but HGP loves to push things too!

He's not human you know??

If you are in a good position with them you should be okay, I would take building up to 100 reps slow to give your collagen time to build up. You are strong your muscle will get there way before your connective tissue and you don't want to push that too fast...

Training has to be a challenge, if it's easy peasy I may lose interest.

I really don't wanna do 100 reps squats with 135lbs, so I have to stretch time under tension somehow, dipping works great, no hassles so far.

You could always do them SUPER slow...like...imagine how you'll get into and out of a chair when you're 80.

You know, when you see that geriatric person working out and they have 10 pounds on their back and they are moving like every inch of movement must be precise, as any movement at all entails imminent danger? Like that, except...it won't look so bad with 200 pounds on your back.

Had a mediocre workout yesterday, decided to re-do it today -and implement some rotator cuff strengthening+lower traps exercises.
Hopefully I find the time to get my lab test tomorrow. Have to check if everything is in range before hammering the liver again, with a cutting cycle.
Thinking about 220mg test/w with 80-100mg tbol for 6 weeks.

Good Idea!!

We "mature guys" have to do extensive joint care exercises, if we want to stay in this game. It's about 6 exercises for rotator cuff and two for lower traps (fixing "rolled forward shoulder" posture). Theoretically you could dedicate a whole day for that.

Think all of us can benefit from more rehab type stuff - stretching, rolling, resistance band stuff etc

As ever your leading by example HG

Well, its more "self defense" than being "wise". After injuring myself recklessly, I have to do those "puzzy-exercises".
When it comes to weight loss, YOU are a far better example of how its done. I'm not disciplined enough to lose my "rest-fat", LOL.

Ummm...if you don't have time to do it right the first time, when will you have time to do it over!?

Oh, oh yeah, tomorrow.

Was not time related, more a "sh1tty workout day", due to being an old fugger, needing 3 days for recovery between workouts, instead of 1 day of rest, like you do. My puberty days are over. :)

Yeah...but...well, I still gotta bust your chops.

Today was "Injury prevention day".

7x rotator cuff exercises with cables + 2x lower trap exercises + slow-mo smith squats + slow-mo leg extensions, everything 3 sets to failure.

Felt good. The slow-mo (TUT 4.2.1) squats with 155lbs were hellish. The last reps each set, I had a serious vein showing on my forehead, lol.

Don't think veins are suppose to show in your forehead during squats. Lol

It's not what's popping out of his forehead that he was worried about...

I probably looked like that a few times years ago with 500 + lbs on the bar !!

Do squats very slowly, you'll see. Sudden vein like a garden hose, on the forehead.

Johnny's goal was to bust 3 nuts next to his dream girl in science class. Unfortunately he underestimated the friction levels and set of the fire alarm instead...

About the "squatting heavy" or "azz to the grass squats", especially for us older guys. Between my lack of exercise equipment in my home gym (no squat rack), lower back issues (bulging discs L4-L5-S1) and knee/flexibility issues, I did a bunch of research and ended up buying the plans for and building a "Quad Blaster", designed by the Body Builder Carlos DeJesus (I think I got his name right), who had an injury that prevented him from being able to squat at all. I think I read he won at least one, maybe two, competitions after that diagnosis, after he designed and started using his quad blaster. My experience with it has been pretty positive with noticeable growth (over a several months use) despite not being able to squat with any kind of weight here.

Pull ups
11/10
chin ups, holding 15 sec on top with legs 90 degrees
x 1/1

DB bench press flat
2x75lbs x10/9

Then, a friend came in. He is a national champ in MMA. I asked him to do sparring for cardio.
Rules:
-open hands, half opened fists
-no gloves (didn't have any)
-no grappling
-leg kicks above hip, not to legs (my knees are bad)
-no elbows or knees

WTF! After a few seconds it was clear who the boss is.

I did 4 rounds of 30 seconds, barely holding on from round to round, making noises like a steam engine, while getting my azz kicked.

After that, I could not finish my workout, I was literally obliterated. Needless to say, I wouldn't stand a chance against that "animal".
At least I stood my ground, never flinched -or showed my back. Some of my attacks got through, most didn't. My lips and one eyelid is a bit swollen, true signs of a good sparring, LOL.
This beating was for free, LOL. The guy charges about $25 for 30 min, will think about signing a contract.

Today I gave blood for a huge lab test, including: total test, free test, Vit-D, minerals, cancer markers, E2 and whatnot. Will be really interesting. Next Wednesday I'll have the results.
It helps me to evaluate the quality of gear I'm using and to dial-in my AI.

Damnit what is the first rule of fight club?!? We've been over this... Shhhhhs!!

"Never talk about Fight Club!" LOL

You have to try this! Those Muay Thai dudes have limbs as hard as iron, damned. Just now I'm realizing that my body is full of bruises (his not, I guess).

But its fun! Too bad that the old Viking times are over, I would have liked traveling to unexplored countries and beat the flimsy natives up, LOL!

I so agree. I miss my days in highschool, when I was under 18, and didn't have to worry about getting arrest for getting in a fight. Nothing like beating the sh!t out of someone who deserves it.

Haha but in honesty I've been in 3 real fights. 1st was because my best friend fuked my girlfriend, so I dumped her ass and beat his ass. 2nd was at a concert when I watched a guy punch a girl, so i beat his ass. 3rd was random dude who punched me in back of the head during class, so I beat his ass. And all ended in them getting knocked out in less than 10 punches.

Well, I never had a fight. It was either: I was beat up (once by sucker punch) -or I did beat up (about 12-15 times), never an interchange of punches.
My last time was about 10 years ago. A guy swung a chair at me -and regretted it a second afterwards, LOL.

Edit: 12 or13 times, did the counting. Mostly when I was bouncing, 28 years ago and there was no other option left.

Haha. Nice I'm just so anti confrontational and easy going most of the time, not to mention I have always been WAY bigger and stonger than everyone my age so no dared to fuked with me, plus idaho is a very laid back state. so I haven't been in to many but I do wish I was in more, I know that sounds terrible. But none of that means I'll put up with any sh!t, because I won't.

I ALWAYS try to avoid it at all cost. There is a certain moment when I snap, especially if someone throws food -or a drink at me, a shrink could probably explain why, I don't know, LOL. Only then I go off without any warning. I don't really miss it, as here where I live, most people are armed -at least with a knife, no fun in that.

I think your shrink would have to starting seeing a shrink after he took you up as a client ;)

I haven't been in a fight since high school in the 70's ...

the difference between you and me is that I would know that was a bad idea and passed on the beat down. plus im a big fan of getting out of bed the next day! lmao....
I would have loved seeing you get your ass beat. The plus was it was free!
Come to think of it, I have had my ass beaten a few times for free before. except for a few trips to the emergency room and or legal fees.

I used to pay to get me butt whooped lol. I used to train muay thai and jiu-jitsu and mma with professional fighters and loved it. I held my own pretty good though there was a few guys there though that i would try to stay away from during sparring but usually ended up sparring them every time anyways. Thats how you get better. If you've ever heard of trevor prangley that was one of them. Dudes a beast and doesnt know how to spar light lol

HGP and I are way too old to be doing any kind of MMA. that is for the young and health not the old and injured. lol
I'm just glad this and crossfit wasn't around or popular when I was in my prime.
After football was over for me I took up powerlifting for 26 years and that took a good enough toll on my body and didn't add to the brain damage.

Now my son did the MMA thing for about 4 years and still tells me he misses it {his business took off and he just doesn't have time). most of the jiu-jitsu stuff came easy for him, but he was a 2 time state champion wrestler. In his matches once he got someone down it was pretty much over with.

Gym today was a sh1tload of rotator cuff exercises, chest and abs.
...AND... some cardio.

-over and out-

You might need to send me some of those rotator cuff exercises

I do all of those exercises, but with cables.

Watch your form! Its very challenging to keep the right form! Start with really low weights and be sure to only involve the muscles in the shoulders. Its about rotation, not so much about strength.
