Movies and tv shows discussion

Falling skies is a great B grade Syfi series, got a certain charm about it, just expect some corny acting and questionable CGI... but its got heart... I really liked it back in the day.
Guess I’m going to nope that too. Any other science fiction or horror tv series recommendations?

FWIW, I love archive 81, colony and stranger things.

I would say give it a shot when you got nothing else, you might like it.

Lets see what I can remember haha

FROM- Very good, lost creator so 3 seasons in youre still asking wtf is going on, but it is really good.
See
EVIL- This one I really enjoyed, but the last season they seemed to rush it as the previous seasons were so slow with story progression, but I still think the journey is good haha
Alice in Borderland- little bit sci fi, its like squid game, but better imo (go subs not dub)
The Terror- amazing, first season much better, second still worth a watch (different stories)
The Strain- Different take on vampire like creatures, amazing... again felt rushed in the end, but was great
Penny Dreadful- Great
Midnight Mass- Masterpiece imo
Slasher- Anthology series, if you like slashers this is great, first season bit corny, but get past that and you should love it.
Parasyte: The Grey- sub dont dub it, really liked this
Ash vs evil dead
Chapelwaite
Fall out
The bondsman
Preacher.

I would love a horror-infused X-Files!

Check out this statement, from X-Files original creator, Chris Carter. It's from David Duchovny's podcast:

Carter announced he'd just been given the "go-ahead" to do a director's cut of the second movie, The X-Files: I Want to Believe, from 2008. "I can't tell you how excited I am about this," he said. "Now I have the chance to make the scary movie that I always intended to make. It's really bringing to life something that, for me, was on the page and never got to the screen."

Going to see The Ballerina tomorrow. Its a John Wick spinoff and the more i can learn about that universe the happier i get.

It can’t suck. The john wick movies are surprisingly good. Plus Ana de armas is pretty hot. They were both in the movie “Knock Knock” which was kind of a sleeper. You also get to see her tits in that one.

She also did a great job in No Time To Die. She did the action stuff really well.

I can highly recommend Ballerina if you are a John Wick fan. I think it was a really great action movie with good setup and more lore about the world.

Watching the Strain now and I'm hooked. Only on ep10 in the first season.

I watched Love Hurts. I liked it a lot.
The star (Short Round, from Indiana Jones) is a real life 2nd degree Black belt and Hollywood Stunt coordinator. This role was perfect for him.

Akroyd kick…staring with 1985’s DRAGNET

(Netflix if anyone wanna join in)

Seen this one?
Nothing But Trouble
1991
Dan Akroyd
John Candy
Chevy Chase
Demi Moore

About as silly as you'd expect.
A few LOL moments.

From was great. Can’t wait for the next season. I’ll try Parasyte next.

Has anyone seen Fringe?

It’s not streaming anywhere but I’ve heard it’s the best.

Akroyd binge movie #2 “the great outdoors”
John Candy is in it too, might parlay this into a candy binge as well

Gonna go watch F1 on friday. It looks like one of those movies thats worth seeing on the big screen.
I highly recommend seeing this in the theater. A really great summer blockbuster! Last movie i enjoyed as much was Top Gun 2. Which, has the same director it seems.

F1 looks awesome, I'm super pumped to have a movie in the theater that i'm looking forward to. the past year I've grown to really like going to the theater again as a treat/date night but man, the supply of movies has been horrendous....

started watching Studio with Seth Rogan lately and even though its a train wreck (true Seth style) it's pretty funny!

What's good on Netflix right now?

I need something for the wife and I to start

We like mystery type stuff...the wife figures it out and explains it to me lol

This was solid, one of those movies definitely enhanced by actually going to see in IMAX (nearly the entire movie is in the expanded ratio).

Been a little slow for the year, but things for 2025 did pick up a bit for the summer. Still a few I've got some interest in to swing things in a more positive light for the year, but not sure it'll measure up to the last couple years.
We dont have IMAX here as i live in a small town. But id be all over that!

I watched Superman and i really enjoyed it. Fantastic Four is next on monday, we will see how that turns out.

Thoughts…

Twilight Zone vs. Outer Limits?

I liked the original Twilight Zone better than the original Outer Limits. ..... But I've enjoyed all of the old and new iterations of both.... And almost any other show in that same vein.

anyone else disappointed by 28 years later. Overally arty, to the point where it seemed to take priority over storyline. The characters werent engaging and dialogue was ****. It was like a different genre, then that last scene... lord have mercy. Ok as a standalone movie I would be like whatever, but it is supposed to be linked to the others.

There is a sequel on its way called The Bone Temple and is suppsoed to be out in January 2026. Apparently the "28 years later" thing is supposed to be a trilogy. So we have another one coming after The Bone Temple.

The ending was indeed out of left field. My intrepertation was that it was the kid from the beginning of the movie.

Any particular episodes of any of them you’d recommend?

My favorites so far are the ventriloquist episodes from Twilight Zone.

Yea! It was so bad and so unrealistic. The first movie, Days Later, was actually believable, even how the virus worked. One of my favorites. This new one was garbage.

Fantastic Four was really enjoyable. Best Marvel movie in a long while.

i loved it and the end credit scene was pretty bad ass

kinda figured where it was going when saw galactus

Yeah he was the kid and pretty sure those vivid dream sequences later on was his crew getting killed too... very culty

Bros.... FINALLY prioritizing Rest again (we'll see how long that lasts, LOL).

Any new movie recommendations?

Preferably sci-fi.... But not exclusively.

Have seen F1, and weapons recently. Both amazing. Weapons in my opinion is one of the better horror movies in the past few years. Very different and original.
