Calves gotta get 1 3/4 inches bigger at LEAST.

A guy at the gym I talk to every once in a while pointed out that my upper body is built in such a way (large rib cage, wide shoulders, naturally large arms) it's gonna make my legs, and more notably, calves look small. Never thought about that but it changes nothing really. They still gotta grow a lot.

I really don't know that your upper body is going to make your calves look any smaller. If you just have tiny calves they will look tiny no matter what but you don't have tiny calves, they are nicely developed. Not huge but not small and in all honestly calves are not going to be the clincher in a contest. Keep working them, crush those legs to just keep adding size and don't worry what anyone tells you other than a judge. Sure your tiny V waist sweeping down from that thick back is going to make a huge sweeping taper from the top. All you have to do is learn to pose to create that same illusion that your outer quads sweep out beyond the width of your hips. That is more presentation, things like foot position, hip rotation, presenting the legs at different angles. I know there are specific tricks for each body type to enhance a certain look. I don't know the trick off the top of my head for narrowing the view of the hips while enhancing the width of the thigh but I can assure you that it is out there for the finding.

I have often entertained the idea of using a rolling pin to break up some knots in the legs or in my back. Let me know how that works out for you. Seems it would be extremely painful but would definitely work.

It actually works very well on the quads and calves....just make sure it's high quality cause I've broken a few handles applying enough pressure to get knots out.

Now for back....it hurts bad lol

But come showtime I'd just say to shoot for an extreme level of conditioning while holding onto as much muscle as possible..

As opposed to looking at a target weight / class.

Yes sir. I'm really inbetween classes tbh. Any real weight gain going into the show I would have most likely over shot LH and I know I can only gain so much mass in such a short amount of time to try and make a good showing in hw.

Snags has preached conditioning from day one, so no matter what I weigh come show time I'll be shredded and ready to go.

Limiting weight gain just to make a class for a single show wasn't something that I really liked the thought of after thinking on it. My goal is to compete hw at the top of the class so we are moving forward and if it takes a bit longer to hit where I want to be then so be it.
 
So Monty, you rollin with 20 or 30mg of glutamine/day?

This last week was 20. Bumped to 30 for two weeks starting today, then depending on how I'm feeling well depend on the fourth week. Either back to twenty since the Mecha should be kicked in, stay at 30 if I haven't noticed any sides, or drop all together if the two together is a bit much.

Honestly option two will probably be the scenario.

yes switching up flavoring is always helpful with that stuff, esp the chunk light (bleh)

On a side note. Last week I started my glutamine (sd) a week early :) started feeling it about five days in when the pumps ramped up. Started Mecha today. Epic gains incoming.

None for me, till the snow melts and things dry up.

If you want to really shake things up, try overhead lunges. They suck horribly but involve a lot of core stability, balance, and mobility. Definitely fun to accomplish.

I have been doing no cardio recently btw, just maneuvering cals around, lowering a bit to tighten up
skin is shrinking, cuts showing out more, weight 207, leveling out some as I drop to lower bf range

getting real close to phase II now....I might go into hiding until I hit next phase for a bit

I weighed in at 223 this morning :) up 19 lbs and of course a bit of fat but still not too shabby so far.

yeah, actually the 207 surprised me (but I guess it shouldn't have); thought I would be holding more weight .. the reduction in cals, tho slight, was enough to cause some major changes
damn fast metabolism I got anyway...

and yes, you are looking quite stout my friend, very pleased with your progress and drive, as always!

Leg day.....kinda low voume this week for some reason? Dunno but the Meadows Man hasnt let me down yet.

Lying leg curls – 2-3 warm up sets. 2 strict sets of 15 reps. 2 total work sets.

Leg press– 2-3 warm up sets of 10 reps. Keep pyramiding up until you can’t get 10 reps. We will count the last 3 sets you do as sets. Use a medium width stance with feet towards the upper part of the platform. 3 total work sets. (All of these are sets of 10.)

Hack squat - Do 2 light sets of 6 reps as a knee warm-up. Let’s pyramid these too. I want you to keep going up until you can barely get 8 reps. Go deep, but don’t pause. Fire back up to ¾ lockout. Keep continuous tension on those quads. We’ll count the last 2 sets on these. 2 total work set.
No hack squat free so I did these on Smith Machine with my legs out in front a good bit. Scared i was gonna slip lol.

Walking dumbbell lunges – Do one leg at a time. Use straps and heavy weight so you can only get around 10 steps on each leg. So step forward with the right leg and then bring the left leg up to even (so feet are beside each other), and then step forward with the right leg again. Go until you can’t do any more on the one leg. Rest 30 seconds, then come back on the other leg. Do 2 rounds. 2 total work sets.
60s to failure on each leg twice....around 12-15 reps (FUK! I didnt realize there was a 30 second rest between legs.....i just turned around and suffered back without resting lol..)

Dumbbell stiff legged deadlifts – Do 2 heavy sets of 10 on these. Keep a little bend in your knees. 2 total work sets.

thanks man...for awhile there I was kinda worried about them, experienced quite a bit of soreness and they just dint seem like they were growing (always have more difficult time with wheels growing anyway, couple injuries I've had)
but last month or month & half or so, they really been strong and pain-free, been able to hammer them nicely & thoroughly

Lol no..not at all. I'm guessing you've seen that we broke a record for most snow in January in the history of the city. What was it like 30.4 inches in January alone or something stupid like that lol. Another 6-10 isn't exactly appealing especially since I have to drive home from work at mid night tonight in this crap.
