I wonder if that overactive thyroid is also hurting your weight gain as well.
Nick Best is ~50 I believe and he has a squat-based session Wednesday, presses Saturday and pulls Sunday. That to me seems like a pretty great way to go on a limited schedule. I train wed/fri/sun currently with my schedule, but that would be my next choice.
I went from 200 to 150 in a month last year when this first happened in winter 2016. I couldn't lift anything over 20 lbs without trembling and getting winded.
I used the A-B schedule to get my bench up to 315 and my high bar wraps no belt squat to 425 x 3.
But I have decided to try a three day schedule again. I started last night with a bench-Incline-dip-row session. While I'm decent on bench and dip, the incline press revealed a real weakness in my pecs, particularly my right one.
Plus I was struggling to get sets of 135 on the incline despite the ability to rep 225 on the flat and do full range dips with 90 lbs added.
I'm considering making incline presses my main pressing movement. Even when I had a solid 315 bench, I couldn't get 225 on the incline. That tells me that the flat bench isn't quite the keystone movement I thought it was.
By comparison the high bar back squat improves all my other lower body movements: front squat, conventional deadlift, vertical leap... Obviously I have to practice the other movements to maximize them, but the back squat clearly drags the minimums to higher levels.
The bench improves my dip, and to a lesser degree my standing presss, but something is still missing. So I'm going to focus more on the incline for a while...
Flat Bench (heavy)
Incline Bench
Dumbell Row
Unilateral Row Machine
Back Squat with some paused reps
Front Squat
45-degree Leg Press
Deadlift heavy alternated with SLDL
Weighted Pull Up
Incline Press
Standing Press
Weighted Chin
Rope handle Upright Row
Obviously I'm looking to hit some perceived weak points and use machines to get more volume. That Rope handle upright row is my main vanity movement; my shoulders get the most attention from women so I really want to fill them out more.
